So when I first switched to using V4L hardware, my initial impression was that the batteries are designed to give too much airflow, resulting in an excessively light draw for my tastes. After a week or two with it though, I grew to love it and think it was just right... originally I thought it was just a matter of me needing some time to get used to it and change my vaping technique to adapt.... but then today I got a new battery, and guess what? It seems to have way more airflow, and a much lighter draw than I'm used to.

So I think what actually happened was that it just took a couple weeks for the battery to build up enough gunk around the airflow holes to give me the slightly stiffer draw I like.

Anyone else experience the same thing?

take a good look at the holes in your battery just above the threads...
The first two auto batteries I received with my starter kit in August 2010 had TWO airholes.
(HEAVY DRAW...lots of resistance)

The next two manual batteries I bought in lat September 2010 had THREE airholes.
Much better! These work GREAT.

A friend of mine gave me a generic, unbranded KR808-d1 battery in October and its got FOUR ! Maybe a bit TOO light?

The draw is lighter and lighter.....it took me a while to examine them and figure out the reasons. It appears they are radically changing and improving the products in a matter of short months.

Newer V4L batteries all have 4 airholes (all of mine do)... so that's not the issue. The two I'm comparing seem identical in every way, except for the amount of built up cruft.

Personally, I would probably prefer the two or three hole version (though I've never tried them)... that way if I just keep them clean I could consistently get the draw I like.... as it is now, I don't want to clean my batteries, for fear that it'll return them to too much airflow.

Please count the holes by holding the holes as you go. I think you will find that all of them have three holes.
Check it again. (Unless you are counting the hole in the center of the connection). I have been ordering
batteries from V4L since February, and have NEVER received anything but three holes. ??

Oh crap, you're totally right... I feel dumb now. Yeah, they both have THREE, not four holes.

Still probably one too many for my taste though.

Do you mean "newer" since August 2010? LOL ! I thought all my stuff was nearly brand new ; )

I am curious as to why you want a tighter draw. As a 50-year smoker, I don't recall any of my cigarettes
requiring a heavy draw....in fact, the analogs seem to be easier to draw on. ??

A brand new V4L battery seems to me to have a lighter draw than an analog. I don't like a SUPER tight draw... my old E9 had NO air holes, and it was like sucking a milkshake through a straw - hated it. My V4Ls, with the airholes slightly gunked up, is a nice medium that feels just right to me.

Also, too much airflow and your vapor gets "airy"... air mixed in with your vapor, like an ultralight analog.

Some of the members have made suggestions about covering up the airholes. With tape, rubber bands, fingers....so yes, I understand about TOO much air flow.
the ones with too much air flow are noisier too....they make that hissing noise. Drives my granddaughter nuts!

Yeah, my new battery is a lot hiss-ier too... doesn't bother me, but makes me wonder if maybe it actually is different in some way other than gunk accumulation.... hmmm... time will tell.

Sally, deja vu huh! Kodos, I had this same conversation with Sally a while back - I thought the batts had 4 holes as well, but she is right (as always), they have only three since I started with V4L in January. You are not the only one with counting issues - I used to think I could reliably count to 21 utilizing all my appendages, but was stumped at 3
