How many would like lighter draw, more airflow for VK batteries?

Would you like a lighter draw, a heavier draw, both, or just keep it the same?

  • I would like a lighter draw than the current batteries.

  • I would like a harder draw than the current batteries.

  • I think the current draw is perfect.

  • I would like to have both options available.

I was out and about yesterday and both batteries I took with me had harder draws. By the end of the evening I had worn the insides of my cheeks raw from them rubbing against my teeth from sucking so hard! (Yeah... I know...) I really need to make sure I don't take only hard drawing batteries with me when I go out!

I vote for a lighter draw! If I find it is too light, I can always do a temporary modification with an easy to find toothpick or piece of Scotch Tape! ;)

Hi,
I just bought an Ultra Kit which came with 2 shorties that I can hardly use because of the light draw. I've been working with Valerie to try to solve the problem. The air holes on my two batts are huge compared with an XL that I have. What is this toothpick trick? I'm willing to try anything, I like a harder draw, more like the PT.

Is there some way to make an adjustable airflow? That way everyone gets exactly what they want and you don't have to carry a bunch of different products. I prefer a lighter draw....my husband is like a Hoover vacuum and just burns up whatever he touches. Yet another reason to love V4L....mine are pink....his are green....he knows not to even get near my batteries or carts. And when it's time torefill....if I see teeth marks I just throw them away because I know they are his. :) Which leads me to my question...whats the chances of a mouthpiece that would fit over the cart for people like him who like to put the "cig" between their teeth or just let it hang out of there mouth ala hands free.....like when they are working on a fuel line or something and need both hands. :0)

The "toothpick trick" is very simple. Stick one end of a round wooden toothpick in one of the little holes under the threads. Break it off and use your thumbnail or something else to make sure it's packed in there good and tight.

I've done that to one "airy" PT and both of the adapters I use on my battery mods. None have ever come loose or caused any problems.

If you don't like the result, it only takes a pin or something to dig the toothpick out.

I adjust my airflow with the positioning of the carto on the battery, lining up the slots in the carto with the pinholes beneath the battery threads for more air or closing them off for a harder draw.

This seems strange Taryn. There are 3 pinholes on the battery and 4 slots on the carto. Seems like no matter how I twist the carto I can only get one battery pinhole to line up with a slot.

Am I understanding this correctly? I have regular manual batteries.

Yes the most you will get is one open hole.

OK. And there is always one pinhole exposed, so how do you adjust? are you just referring to overall tightness? I'm playing with that a bit here and it doesn't seem to make any difference for me.

btw, It's working well and I'm happy with it, but I can never stop fiddling!

More performance on a shorter draw = good thing. But if I'm going to get so much air on a shorter draw that the vape is thin then that is a bad thing. So, lighter draw itself is not important to me, but if it means more vapor on a shorter draw then I say yes.

So I've been thinking more about this, because I prefer V4L product so I'm all for any potential improvements, and I compared draw on my different stuffs.

I think the draw on my V4L manual pass through is a little too tight, not enough air. I noticed this when switching back and forth between my tethered pass through at the office and my Prodigy w/ an 801 to Cartomizer adapter (LOVE LOVE LOVE V4L cartos at 5 volts!). I noticed the adapter has an air flow slot on it like a V4L auto battery, so I assumed that was the reason for the improved air flow.

So, I pulled out my V4L auto pass through to compare the lighter draw it would deliver due to having the air flow slot as the auto batteries do. It was a lighter draw, but the thing I didn't like was that it had enough air flow to really cool off the vapor. I like a warm vape.

So I don't know what to vote. I like a lighter draw if it means more vapor but I also like warm vapor. I suppose more vapor on a shorter draw is more important than the temperature though.

A couple things I have figured out....
#1 clean the battery if the draw is too hard....sometimes the little holes are just clogged up. I use a dental pick. Also...buy a tube of Noalox at the auto parts store

#2 Sometimes it's because I have overfilled the cart. So I just take it off and blow out the extra juice and it's fine.

#3I have had a few carts where the paper label isn't lined up perfectly and the paper is covering up the notches on the cart. Single edge razor blade works wonders. :)

That said........is there a converse to the toothpick trick? I realize I might ruin the battery so I'll be taking a chance but couldn't you just drill an extra hole? Or widen the existing ones?
