Could be that your picture is just too big. Follow the same instructions as above, but choose RESIZE FOR AVATAR.

Use the DIRECT LINK FOR LAYOUT option, and past the URL directly where it says OPTION 1 in EDIT PROFILE PICTURE. Should work for you.
