#2 I hate hate hate to cook. I liked to say I couldn't, cuz really, I'm not great at it. But last year my husband was very sick on thanksgiving. So I took on the task of turkey dinner for the first time ever. And I successfully made the entire thanksgiving meal myself. I was so proud. Then as time passed, I learned no one believes me when I say I can't cook anymore....

I haven't watched tv in 6 months! I guess I got bored of it. I started watching tv shows online for a few weeks then got bored of that, too. And I haven't been to the movies in years.

Going to the movies as a smoker often took some of the fun out of it, since I had to duck out a couple times to go outside for a smoke. When I'd go back in, I always hoped they didn't think I was trying to sneak in without paying, so I made sure my ticket stub was handy upon re-entering the theater. Plus, I'd have to ask whoever I was with if I missed any good parts!

#3 I grew up way too fast, my mom was diagnosed with cancer when I was 11, and I was the oldest of 3. So I had to help run the house, making sure chores were done, homework was complete and lunch was made. She did chemo and put into remission. It came back six years later, she said if she beat it once she could do it again. So we went back into fight mode but sadly cancer one and she died my senior year of high school. But... I can honestly say, her teachings and life lessons have served me well. I am 23 years old. Independent, proudly serving in the US Navy, graduated with honors with 3.75 gpa dual seal diploma, aced my sats, never been arrested, never did drugs, and I am in process of owning my own home. No this isn't a brag thread so I don't want anyone getting .... hurt. Take care of the family you have, you never know when they wont be there.

Sounds like your Mom raised you really well and she'd be proud of you for staying strong and staying out of trouble. Good on you, bro. Keep up the good work! :D

#1 Newbie, still trying to figure out my new vaping toys. Okay, so I'm a little intimidated by new appliances. Not like Brave Little Toaster or Maximum Overdrive or Transformers or anything, but still...............

Sitting at the computer Sat night, reading ECF, I heard a loud Buzz!Gr-in-d!"Screech!" I jumped up, ran to living room----- and there is smoke. Light smoke filling the room, along with that unmistakeable electrical burning smell.

OMG. First thought: Vaping equipment? Did I blow somethin' up? Gulp. My new batteries charging in laundry room. Maybe I did something wrong---- Run in there.

They were all fine. :p Whew! THAT would have been a castastrophe!

Next: Check the less important things :D breaker box, major appliances like stove, refrigerator, air conditioning, flat screen TV. Everything is fine.

I decide to call 911, since I was afraid to go to sleep not knowing what was malfunctioning. Kinda embarassing to have firetrucks with sirens and lights come to your house at midnight.

Firemen arrive. (why are all firemen always good looking? :hubba:). I, on the other hand, am standing in my 3-sizes-too- big jammies, holding onto my {60+ pound} dogs, both of whom perceive new friends to play with, and proceed to smell everyone's boots.

Nobody can find anything. Outside with flashlights, under the house. More than a few glances at the vaping equipment.... ("those are my ecigs", I say, worrying they might think I'm smokin' the funny stuff).

25 minutes later, one of them points to the 3-light fixture above kitchen sink. "Do you usually have 3 lights there?" I said "yes"---- wincing as I notice only 2 of them are still lit......

Indeed, one of the no-name cheap *squiggly* flourescents screwed in there. Reach up, unscrew it, middle ceramic area is black, with cracks coming off the center. Voila! "Thanks guys, I'll be making a donation at the ice cream social next weekend!" It's Sat. night, I'm sure they have better things to do, but they said I did the right thing, rather be safe than sorry.

I'm pretty sure a lightbulb burning out shouldn't fill your living room with smoke though. Thank goodness, I am still vaping, so all is well!

~best wishes to lettucehead~

I was actually thinking of her today and I dont even know her, just know any kind of surgery sucks, I have it next week but not near that extent of hers. Hers is major mine is not lol. They are putting a plate in my foot and cutting off part of my toe, either part of it or all of it

IMO losing a body part, any body part, is a big deal! I just hope it all goes well for you! Be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers too!
