I think it also only happens with an 18650, unless you are using a 350 in which case it happens with both.....

Running an 18650.. I just changed out the spring from another mod.. testing... So far no unnecessary warmth.

Now it sounds like a pulsing water jet. Is this safe? lol

I've read thats normal since its switching on/off 30 times a sec. Bothers me you received the old spring though, I thought that was fixed in their latest rev. I've got the stainless on order, hopefully that comes with the better spring.

Both the Vamo and Zmax use PWM (pulse width modulation) to regulate power and it can make that sound depending what you are vaping. Yes it's safe. I don't get that sound with my Term-C but I do get it with my carto-tanks.

Also make sure it's set to n02 mode...RMS (long press + or - button for like 10 sec to switch between n01 and n02). Mine was set to no1 when I first got it.

The SS I got has the larger gold color spring. No heating in the battery cap that I can feel. Though I did stretch out the spring just a tiny bit to stop the battery from rattling.

Glad to hear that Slart, thanx. Vaporbreak was out of stock a month ago, appears he got a shipment of the older chrome/black he's shipping.

The rattlesnake sound comes with the territory for any PVs made with that chipset. It's not a safety issue at all.

However, your VAMO running hot with the original spring is a safety issue and has been known for months. What color is your spring? The dangerous ones were made of steel and the replacements have been made from copper or brass. It was not at all responsible for your vendor to sell you a VAMO without the new upgraded spring if that is what was shipped to you.

Bought it from vaporbreak just like everyone else that is reporting having a gold spring.

Mine was most definitely not gold colored. It's steel-colored. It carried the heat really well, warmed up the bottom of the battery tube.. I took the bottom cap off to inspect it and that spring was HOT. Burned my finger!

I swapped it out with another spring, which works fine.. But it's not the best fit. I know someone posted compatibility with another mod spring.. Which was it? I need this spring back in my other PV!!

Also I just loaned out the VAMO the day I got it... LOL
Friend of mine dropped his PV and needed a backup. Oh well!

it been 33 days since i paid for my mine, and 19 days since it was shipped. Guess i gotta open up a paypal claim soon before my 45 days expires if it doesnt get here soon. guess im one of the unlucky ones.

What does your tracking say? Hopefully it got thru customs. Are you in the USA? Yes, 19 days since it was shipped it should have been there by now or should be there this week for sure. I'd give it a few more days but don't let your paypal option expire.
