Got my first mod (a used Vamo V5) off Ebay last week. Was at the local coffee shop, helping a friend with their first setup (Kanger Aero Mega on an innokin clk 1280), and bumped my Vamo off the table. Seems hitting the ground knocked something loose: now sometimes it's fine, other times I get a "LOW OHM" message

At a guess (and going from my Navy electronics training), I have a floating short. Should be easy to fix, but I have no idea how to get at the bloody circuit board

Anyone able to help?

I dont think I can help you.

a used vamo from ebay.

All three should have been red flags IMO.

If I were you I'd chalk this up as a learning experience, throw it in the trash and find the nearest brick and mortar and buy something else (which will at least offer a replacement if something breaks within 30 days)

Found ONE video, that suggests swapping the battery tube and the beauty ring, and using that to "wiggle the top plate loose"

Great concept, but the body is slick as hell, so I can get purchase to apply pressure. Or the press fitting of the parts is that tight (not sure which).

And I already planned on getting a new mod from a B&M. But figure if I can fix this, that gives me a spare...

My son gave me his old one a while back and it was dropped repeatedly. The battery cap was broken and I got it back on the bottom tube with locktite. Still had a firing issue so I used an ego thread tank to work the top off. Found the ground wire loose cold soldier joint. While it was apart I cleaned the top cap up and fired up the pace rework station and resoldiered the connections. Been fine since then. I did pick up a couple of isticks a few weeks ago and love them I haven't used the vamo since and the wife retired her mvp2. There was a hell of a online deal over the weekend for them under $20 so I have 2 more on the way. I used my vamo for a couple of months and the only thing I didn't like was size and weight. My son had a 1600mah battery and I could get a day and a half out of it so I bought a 2500mah battery and got two days between charges. There are times that I can get 3 days out of the istick between charges and the wife gets four solid days. Hope you get your vamo fixed though nothing wrong with them.
