Before you even put it on your atty, blow it out through the battery connection, then dry burn it until you see the coils starting to glow. OR (and this is easier & more effective), soak it in vodka for a few minutes, blow or shake the excess off, then dry burn (or burn with VG, VG/PG, menthol etc) until you see the coils starting to glow. It won't take long, and then your atty will be ready for vaping (be cautious the first few puffs, that primer can be a tenacious :censored:

If I do send Mom a kit with some attys, I'm guessing she'll definitely have to do the vodka soak and shake method; I don't think she's got it in her to blow out the atty. You think I should also get her a lanyard so she can do the Taryn Spin?

Wow! I didn't know how bad my buds are off until just now. I decided to use some mouthwash (Listerine) and normally there's a definite bite to it. Today, all I get's a sweet taste. That's almost scary!

lol maybe a couple of good listerine gargles will bring your buds back!

Yep, definitely the ice. Just made a glass w/o the ice and the water tastes normal again. Of course, living in FL, I assume y'all are used to strange tasting water. I still remember the sulfur water from my days in Tallahassee.

Yep, the water here is icky! It's better once it's been purified, but gah! And the reclaimed water smells like rotten eggs - never leave your car windows open if parked next to a sprinkler.... grrr

The atties you linked are bridgeless atties - some people prefer them for dripping, I haven't tried the 3 hole, but I have tried regular bridgeless and really couldn't tell much of a difference, other than the fact that they're a little wonky & take some breaking in. :)

Okay, how did you know from looking that they're bridgeless? Is that the difference between a dripping atty and a regular one?

I've got a question concerning drip shields: According to at least one of the you-tubes on drip shields, if you're using a cone-type device, you don't really need a shield, as the cone does essentially the same thing. is this right? It makes some sense to me.

sort of, but as far as I'm aware, the cone won't feed the juice back into the atty.

That's what I thought. I'll have to check one out. Related question: Siince I've got a cone-style device, do I need the 510-510 adaptor?

if you're just going to use the cone, no, but I would still get an adapter and drip shield - the cone won't feed the juice back in, so as soon as you take the cone off you're likely to have a flood on your hands (literally :) )

Atty's are just a big fat ol PITA no matter how ya shake it... fine if you're sitting somewhere with a bottle of juice next to you, but just not convenient for me.. but you all know how I feel about atty's..:2cool: Reidus, I've had way better luck with the EgoC atty system.. much more user friendly, I find. It does use little cartridges that you put the juice in, just pop the cartridge down into the cone and it's just that easy. I don't think I've ever had a dry hit from it. And I'm still using the first two atty heads I opened when I got the thing. I just clean them in my jewelry cleaner with water and just a touch of baking soda and they're good to go again. Cheeky's been trying to get me to try drip shields and all that forever and I've avoided it.. ;) I don't use it a lot,, but it's pretty handy for testing juices.

HEY.. guess what's on my stove?? A big ol pot of beans! Boy, does it smell good! I soaked the beans overnight and they lost almost all of their red color.. but the seasoning has put some color back in. I'll put a bunch in the freezer.. do you put the rice in before you freeze it??

Have the kiddos today.. K-man is watching spiderman and the baby is in her swing.. quiet for the first time since she got here.. (heaven help me!)

Gotta go shop around for the best deal on some cartos for Barb.. have a great day peeps!

How are they wonky? I'm actually surprised "wonky" is an accepted word for spell-check. :D

the bridgeless atties I have ARE wonky lol they keep sizzling after you stop giving them power, they require so much breaking in that I absolutely hated them in the beginning, they require significantly more juice to not give a funky dry hit.. they're just... wonky lol
Again, they aren't the 3 hole, and those might be much better & less wonky (my tech jargon rocks on no sleep :D )

Luv, one of the reasons we're talking about atty's is that Mom's started using Blu's to try to quit. She has COPD (50 yrs of smoking will do that for you) and she's been vaping for 3 days now and has noticed she's having breathing problems (as opposed to coughing up crap). I went over the Health forum, and a number of folks there claim they have a similar problem when they use cartos, so they recommend dripping.

As far as RB&R goes, it does make a wonderful smell, doesn't it? :D I may put on another batch tomorrow to freeze (I ate my last package the other night). Personally, I freeze it with the rice in it, though I notice that once it's been re-heated, it's a bit watery. Since the whole reason I'm freezing them in the first place is to have something quick and easy to make when from home from night class, I don't really care. Mom leaves out the rice, and hasn't noticed any difference in the consistency. I think the cooked rice releases some water when it freezes.
