I just came home from a trip to Costa Rica (for my sister's wedding). Flew through MIA, FL and had no problems vaping in any airport or any plane!!! FLEW AMERICAN AIRLINES WITH NO PROBLEMS vaping IN MY SEAT. I purposely vaped non-smelly juice but all my juices and all had at least some VG (even if I have to add myself because I LOVE VAPOR)...so there was lots of vapor and no smell...and no problems or even questions on the planes or airports (other than security).

Going through security, I got some questions but everyone thought it was cool! One TSA guy made me take a drag off of it to prove what the batts were really for...and then he thought it was cool too. I think its because I had about 10 batts with me all in one little baggy together maybe looking suspicious (unusual and never seen before). I suppose when people are trying to light their underwear on fire (OMG)...you have to ask about everything now. CRAZY!

People in Costa Rica were SHOCKED by it and amazed!!! They were interested in them but cigs there are only $2/pack...so...PVs may not affordable in comparison ...especially considering shipping charges. The people in C.R. who were interested would spend time with me vaping in front of them for a bit before they asked me what it was, and all said the lack of smell is what prompted them to ask. They assumed it was some new form of regular smoke at first.

Every hotel was fine with me vaping in the lobby even though I don't think they knew what I was doing exactly. The lack of smell seems to make it a winner all around.

People here in Philly aren't shy! As soon as they see it they will ask if they are interested or uninformed. Many of our malls sell some version of PVs so I think most people here have seen or heard of them.

PHILLY TRAINS (RR's): VAPE FRIENDLY WHEN TRAIN IS NOT PACKED WITH PASSENGERS from my experience...not that it is written anywhere!!!....Never tried it when crowded due to JUST HOW TIGHT the trains get. When PACKED I cant even imagine what a little vapor may do to the small amount of air in there. I haven't tried to vape on the "quiet cars" because they are usually .... in there.

I just dont flash my vapin and have never had a problem........I dont think its the vaping itself that the airlines are worried about, its the people reaction. Smoke means fire..people wig and all of a sudden "we are being attacked by terrorist"...blaa blaa. Probably more stupid would be that one total low functioning tool that would keep repeating, "he's smoking why cant I" reguardless of the explanation that its a vaporizer.

So dont be to hard on the airline folk, ecigs are new to most and it will take time for the rest to catch up......

Vape in the bathroom on planes all the time. Funny since I started vaping i have to pee all the time. Vapor wont set off the smoke detector either, blew a puff directly in one to be sure.

Just to be on the safe side, I wouldn't recommend blowing into the detector. Mine at home will activate with vapor. Don't want to set off a panic these days.

Your good, I carry them all the time. Sorry no experience on Alaska but no different than other airlines, need to stealth vape or go to the bathroom.

Thanks , good to know. I mean it's a short flight, but of course you have to get to the airport two hours early to check in etc. and then I'm gonna be down there for a few days. Plus we want to bring my sister in law a pv as well. But I just don't want to go back to analogs for any period of time.

Here is a good idea.

how about dont vape on the plane at all. Dont make it so that people can see it. go to the bathroom or if you are in your seat stealth vape aka hold the vapor in as long as you can and let out slowly so nobody sees it.

Yeah e cigs are cool and we want to show them off but we are on thin ice here. is a potential ban on e cigs worth you being able to vape on a plane for three hours? no it isn't.

Imagine the luck if someone of importance is seeing you vape on a plane. whether it be a congress man, an airport higher up, or if you are really unlucky banzaf of ASH.

I know that this is unlikely but you do not really know who you are with in public and could piss off someone high in the food chain.

First off, if you read my posts again you will NOT see anywhere in there where I said that I had intended to vape on the plane. I merely asked if I could get my pv through security because I'm gonna be down there for a few days.

As a matter of fact, I agree with you at least as far as throwing it in peoples faces when we are on such unstable grounds right now.
I myself have echoed those same words on some of my other posts. But what I haven't done was attack someone else for their views on the matter.....especially if I didn't know what I was talking about....

So thanks for your condescending advice ...now get a clue, read my posts again and feel free to respond when you know what you're talking about.

wasn't attacking anyone. I think you misunderstood what i was saying. sorry about that.

I was just saying that we need to be careful and i agree with you completely on us being on unstable grounds

No worries, I have thick skin. I just don't like being misquoted.appology accepted and I also apologise for being ........well, let's just say overaggressive.

I vaped up a storm on American Airlines and Cathay Pacific on my way over here. I didn't stealth it at all, just puffed away bold as brass. I kept waiting for someone to notice or say anything. I even had lots of extra batts and carts ready and willing to share or even give away. But not one word from anyone. I was actually kind of disappointed.

I have a problem...or certain paranoia about this.
I think it's important to be visible as ecig users. It's also important to be courteous. There are a lot of uninformed non-smokers who won't know (or care) about the difference and they will be afraid. The lack of any significant smell is a real plus with vaping but a cloud of vapor drifting into the face a non-smoker can be frighting to them no matter how harmless you say it is. They don't know you. We need to keep these people on our side. If you can vape openly without invading anyone's personal space, so much the better. It just might be easier to peak their curiosity rather than their tacit defensiveness and be in a position to answer a few sincere questions.

A similar complaint came up in an on-line magazine's article about e-cigarettes in the comment section. An "anti" was complaining about a women in line with her blowing vapor into everyone's face thinking she was "educating" them. The poster didn't appreciate it.

There was a story circulating around here recently about a lady who was openly vaping in a terminal and when asked to stop by security she got belligerently argumentative and insisted on here right to vape. She was escorted out of the terminal in handcuffs and needless to say, missed her flight. Not a win for our side.

My opinion is that we have to take a more practical approach to vaping on a plane. It does us no good to complain about fairness or rationality: we are in a tiny minority.

Also, if we are honest about it, vaping is not completely odorless; some of the stuff being vaped, I personally find disgusting. Even some of the more pleasent aromas can get to be disturbing if someone next to you is chain vaping on a long flight.

I am grateful to be able to now sneak off into a toilet to satisfy my nicotine craving. It is anything but nice, but a lot better than 14 hours without a nicotine fix or having to run outside and freeze my .... off when transfering through a hub like Chicago in the dead of winter-not to mention the inconvenience of going through security again.

Vaping on a plane is like being naked on the plane. As posted previously, it is the reaction of the passengers that the airlines have a problem with, not safety. Airlines feel abligated to ensure that passengers are comfortable and enjoy their stay. There will come a time when the mass public will be educated on e-cigs but exposure in an airplane where security is tighter than any public area is asking for trouble. All I want to do is be able to bring on board my e-cigs in a case with fluid in a baggy. I can wait till I reach my destination to satisfy my craving.
