This may be pie-in-the-sky for the time being, but I wonder whether informed, vapor-friendly bar owner/managers will start hosting vape Nights?

We already know that vaping is legal under the anti-smoking laws. Going by what I've read on the forums so far, a major reason why many people don't feel comfortable vaping in bars and restaurants is simply that it's a new "thing" and is liable to be misunderstood by the powers-that-be in whatever establishment. Even "enlightened" owners may also have the legitimate concern that they will be fined/hassled as a result of others mistakenly assuming that they are allowing smoking.

It occurs to me that this could actually be touted to bar owners as a positive PR and $$$-making idea. Of course, it would have to be carefully planned, perhaps in conjunction with an e-cig retailer, with plenty of advance notice and thought put in to it.

I'm pretty sure that there are lots of bar owners out there who rue the day that smoking bans were put into effect because many businesses saw their sales/profits take an immediate nosedive. If they can allow vaping, they may be able to recover from the slump.

If I owned a bar I'd be thrilled to host a vape night, assuming that the numbers of vapers is high enough. Are we at that point yet in any one metropolitan area?

I've never been a bar-type person but I do understand that even for non-smokers, bars and smoking naturally go together. The very idea of a non-smoking bar is really strange to me.

It is a great idea and i as well think it will work....BUT there is only one problem.Vaping has not been socially acceptable...Why? well to many people are ignorant...Unfortunately.

Yep - so we build "education" into the goals of the Vape Night. Have a rep from a local company set up a display, put up posters or run a decent "What is an E-Cigarette" video on a loop all night. It would mostly be preaching to the converted, at least initially, but might build generally positive PR over the longer term. If it actually made cash for the bar, the idea might catch on in other areas/cities as well.

I don't know anything about bars, really, but we must have some people on this forum who do and who would be able to offer some ideas.

I would rather say mis informed rather than ignorant. My employee also works for camel.. giving out free cigarettes in bars is her other job.. I smoked camel wides for all my life until 3 weeks ago. She immediately knew I didn't ever want a cigarette again. And I am sitting in the bar vaping with 5 friends vaping at the same time while she works for me. She is completely hostile about the whole thing. Some people you will not be able to convince. Many refuse to try it. I let people come to me. I don't go around saying .. here try this to strangers unless they ask first. On December 1st in Virginia we will find out how these will affect smokers. Hopefully the owner of the bar I work at will let these fly after then ban.. It will be legal to vape still in bars.

I like the idea sounds cool. It would be nice to actually talk face to face with another vapor isntead of typing to one another. I vape in public all of the time and I have not yet found one other vapor anywhere. lol However, where I live it is still legal to smoke analogs in bars so vaping is certainly not an isssue so a "vape night" would work here, finding vapors' to attend is another story.
