It's also discrimination not to even consider an 18 year old high school drop-out as the department head of neurosurgery. Someone needs to sue them over that for certain...

To not hire anyone due to the use of nicotine, doesn't provide a basis of not being qualified for the position. It is determined by something they do in their personal life...such as playing sports which could lead to higher medical costs, since you would be putting your body at more risk then the person sitting on the couch...oh wait, that's no good either, lol.

The HS drop out is NOT qualified for a surgeon's position due to lack of training/education. Very different circumstances.

I live in NJ, where vaping has already been banned in public, in fact, inhaling, and exhaling any type of vapor is outlawed...

We are all walking around holding our breath :p

NJ Senate passes bill to restrict e-cigarettes

NJ Senate Okays Restrictions for E-Cigarettes

NJ Senate Approves

NJ Senate Approves ‘E-Cigarette’ Restrictions

Friday, December 11, 2009

TRENTON – The state Senate voted 38-0 Thurday to approve a bill to apply the provisions of the “New Jersey Smoke Free Air Act” to restrict the use of electronic smoking devices, commonly known as “e-cigarettes.”

The bill (S-3053) would expand the definition of “smoking” to include e-cigarettes and extend the ban on smoking by minors to include the use of e-cigarettes. It would define smoking as the burning or inhaling of tobacco or any other matter than can be smoked or inhaled, or the inhaling of smoke or vapor from an electronic smoking device.

Electronic Cigarettes

On January 11, 2010, New Jersey Governor Corzine signed into law A4227/4228, which bans the use of e-cigarettes in public places and workplaces (amended the 2006 NJ Smokefree Air Act), and ban e-cigarette sales to people 18 years and younger. This is the first state law of its kind, in the nation, with the New Jersey Senate and Assembly both voting unanimously in favor of the law. The law took effect in 60 days on March 13, 2010. Click here to read A-4227/4228.

Just found the date it actually did become law :)

Yet another reason to head south!
So, we can buy but we're not allowed to use just anywhere.
AAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGH!

From CASAA
Thursday, December 10, 2009 - Bills passed by New Jersey legislators (S-3053/S-3054), define electronic cigarettes the same as tobacco and prohibit use of the devices in indoor public places and workplaces, based largely on recent findings by the FDA:

when you get orders they throw in cards that explain what you are using and what they percieve as smoke is actually vapor. the website and phone number are on them too

That's great that they do that. Its so much easier than explaining it all from scratch to just a passerbyer who wants to know. Just a great idea on v4l's part!

Bah, Corzine, it figures. Maybe when Da Fat Man gets through with righting the structural budget disasters in NJ, someone can interest him in a little common-sense reform to the "Smokefree Air Act" (as in, "there ain't NO SMOKE from these things, got it?). Of course you still have that oaf Lautenberg, who will fight tooth and nail against vaping, but my money would still be on Da Fat Man. (Yeah, I like him, so SUE ME!)

Wow!
So there was a ban on public e-cig usage before I even started vaping? That is so funny. It certainly seems like very few people have heard of e-cigs and less than a few know what one looks like. So there must be a handful of people scattered throughout this state who know about the law. Most people here have no knowledge of this law.

I'll keep extolling the virtues of vaping vs. smoking to all as I always have. I won't pass on the news of this legislation, though. I don't want to see anyone not try vaping because of a stupid law.

NJ needs a new slogan: NJ and you...stupid together!

I've vaped at two bars in my area with permission from the owner or bartender and neither of them know there is a law. They will not find out from me either! Haha! If I'm not allowed to vape I won't.

NEWS ALERT: Electronic Cigarette Sales and Use Banned in Oregon. 7-30-09

Sales are banned? Whoa Nellie! I'm sure there are vapers in Oregon...are they taking chances? Are the e-cig vendors that ship there taking chances?
