I dunno what kind of car I'm getting. I'm either going to take out a loan once I secure a job or I'm going to buy a piece of crap. time will tell. But I wanted something I can haul or maybe plow snow with so I can make money with it even if I don't have a job right away.

I gotta truck for sale:)
But avoid car loans. And car lots... save whatever money you can and stick to craigslist you can get something reliable for a grand to get you arround till you can afford something nicer

heyyy I have good news. I got my license yesterday!!! I can drive a vehicle with no one else in the car!!! :D

once i took the test with this new instructor I instantly knew my 1st one was just being an immature person lol. i passed with flying colors with this new instructor & he was very nice. I did everything as right as I knew I could. now I know for sure I could have passed my 1st test if my instructor wasn't having such a bad day. lol.

    But yeah I got it!!!
Congratulation's Plumes, we knew you would! :)

Well half of my family says I should buy something on craigslist and the wealthier half say I need to start out with something I buy from a used car dealership with at least a 1 month warranty. At this point my educated guess is that both options have equal ups and downs. i have spent weeks on craigslist and the LARGE majority of sellers on there are uneducated people that lived in the hoods all their lives and didnt spend a dollar on vehicle maintenance. Then on the other side of the coin is the used dealerships that did just enough to make the vehicles presentable and drivable for the next 10k miles. So either way your getting screwed unless you put days and days into searching craigslist for the perfect vehicle with a good owner and even then.. so we are leaning towards a cheaper vehicle from a used dealer. Like a 3-4k car with 120k miles or less hopefully. Buying any used vehicle seems to be a gamble of the universe but a dealership seems a bit safer.

I dont even know if i'm going to be able to work full time with my current state of health so def not trying to take out a big loan.

3-4 grand in a lot will get you something you'd normally spend 1500 for on Craigslist. And trust me it isn't any safer lol. You should always take your time to look for a car. Should be weeks or months even. The difference between a car lot and Craigslist is the price your paying and the fact that it's been detailed... other then that there cars are no more reliable honestly.

and the convenience of just walking onto a lot to buy a car. I've grown really tired of craigslist. Most of the people don't even answer my e-mails or phone calls after days of deliberating if I should call them and the people I did develop a report with ALL ended up backing out of the sale at some point. They all say they have had 13, 14, 15, 16 people call them about the vehicle and they aren't in a rush to negotiate the price and they set the prices within a few hundred dollars of what dealers are selling the same vehicle same mileage for with warranty and certified used vehicle mechanics, and carfax history reports. I went to see a car that was a total waste of time. It had obviously been in a side collision and the guy literally spray painted over the back bumper and side skirt. Pictures on craigslist were obviously from a time prior to the accident. Then I took it for a test drive and the guy tells me the break pads have developed a film over them from sitting so long so I'd just have to use them enough to get rid of the film. :glare: Then I got it up to 40mph and the speedometer stopped working and just jumped up and down lol.
