awwwww ty sooo much my dear friend!!! u brighten my day!!!!!((((hugs))))

Redd ... just one last thought.
If you look at my profile you'll see that my list of "friends" is rather short... there's a good reason for that.
I'm just darned picky about who I call my Friend, I've rejected several people & even gone so far as to "unfriend" one person for being unneccessarily unpleasant.
If you're on my "Friend" list you can consider yourselves the cream of the crop IMHO ;) Especially if you are of the male persuasion!

A true friend doesn't care when you're broke, what you weigh, if your house is a mess, about your past, or if your family is filled with crazies. They love you for who you are.

I just put a down payment on a Jeep today. Its a refundable down payment but I liked it so much that I didn't want anyone to buy it on me. Its 5k for the Jeep itself and its going to be around 1500 for a 2 year warranty. Its a 2000 Cherokee. Has a nice aftermarket CD/mp3 console probably from 00'-10' Everything mechanically looks feels and sounds great. The center console is wobbly and the roof fabric is hanging but they say they will fix these up. 4WD works and sounds great. The front passenger window and the left back window have problems with the switches but these will be fixed prior to sale and they are fully covered under warranty. The air will be recharged. The fan words great. Heat works good. Every employee that dealt with me was very very kind, not shady at all like the other dealers were. :glare:

My budget was supposed to be 4k and I was originally told that I would have to get something for around 2k, spend 1k "on a year of insurance" (lol we found out 1k wont even get me 6 months) and keep 1k for gasoline till I have a solid job. LOL that has gone out the window since I started looking at vehicles. But now that I found a nice Jeep that I like a lot, & after putting a down payment on it, my mom is having serious 2nd thoughts about spending 2k of her retirement savings on the remainder of the cost of the vehicle AND another K on insurance. (which will only buy me 6 months, so if I don't get a job and keep a job, I'm completely screwed in 6 months)

To top this 2k from her retirement savings off... Our home heating oil company just filed for bankruptcy & we prepaid almost 4k and when we called the company the recording says "call the attorney general. we can't give you your money back. we're broke" the guy that owns our oil company just sold his home and the local news is reporting he is nowhere to be found. We're gonna be cooooold this winter lol. But we DO have a fireplace so I'm not so worried. We're probably going to have to take another 1-2k out of my moms retirement money for some oil to heat the upstairs though. So we got robbed right at the time I'm trying to get a first vehicle! Thanks a lot!!!!! NEVER PRE PAY FOR YOUR OIL. NEVER! Just spend the extra money because your company CAN go out of business and leave you without heat!

Hope everything works out on getting your car. I'd skip the warranty and use that 1500 to fix anything that might happen. You'd be more likely to be able to actually get it fixed warranty work is a fight and you gotta hope they actually have good mechanics

    Hey there, Plumes!
Sounds like you may have found what you're looking for. Uhhh, I would opt out of one of those "extended warranties". That's nothing but profit, and usually a screwin' for the customer(you). I WOULD take it to a third-party shop BEFORE purchase to get it checked out properly.
It's worth the couple hundred bux to do so.
    You don't want a pig-in-a-poke!
I speak from decades of experience.
Are you aware of how automotive retail works? They will smile and blow flowers up your .... if it means a sale!

SD would agree, I'm sure. He knows more about vehicles than I do.
When you end up with your vehicle of choice, you'll be forced to learn how to be your own mechanic!
You never said how many miles this Cherokee had...
If it's more than 70k, run away!
I kinda agree with your mom.
It sounds like you're getting ahead of yourself. Keep it simple.
Take a deeeep breath. What do you NEED?
If you have no income, You'll never be able to maintain and keep legal a motor-vehicle.
Find some hooptey for $1200.00 and drive the hell out of it for a year while you save for the step-up.
4x4 rigs require more maintainence. I have 2 4x4s. I love 'em. I have a job. They ain't cheap when they break!
I'm not being a downer, just being pragmatic. I've been there. You have have much to learn, grasshopper. Good luck little brutha!
    :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

good night to all my dearest insomniac friends(((hugs)))

Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting.
Over and over announcing your place in the family of things.

As far as I understand it, the greatest poetry is the moment when you're not aware of the song. The greatest life is when you're not aware that you live, but you think you're dreaming.

Hey tmcase, nice to see you drop by. Dunno if you remember but we met briefly in the REOlounge which is my main hangout. But I think I first saw you in the classys last year when I had the itch (and money) to buy stuff like drip tips! I love my Phiniac tank though so it's always a pleasure to see your signature :p

You've been around ECF way longer than me but incase you're not all that familiar with this thread, you have stumbled upon a treasure chest of beautiful imagery, poetry, short stories, not to mention music and videos to last a lifetime (or atleast enough to fill up a hard drive). I challenge you my dear Lady Terry, to complete this thread one day! I'm barely a third of the way through but it reallys worth it, when ya got the time that is.
