I've noticed the past few days that I get a really thick feeling in my throat, and my lungs are start to feel heavy. I got COPD so this is a major concern for me. I can still breath ok but they all feel like they been coated with something I can't get rid of. I'm vaping different ratios of pg and vg. 50/50, 60/40, 70/30. pg being the first number. I know that pg is in my rescue inhalers so I'm not really sure what's going on. I really don't get this feeling from the Nport I use.(no idea of ratio of it cause I got it from a local brick and mortar)
Any ideas? I got a lot of juice coming and it's all different ratios of mix. I vape between 18mg and 28mg.

Just make sure you're drinking plenty of water. Most of the throat/chest issues I've had are from not drinking enough water. Vaping will dehydrate you fast.

I do have a little bronchial congestion right now, but I think it's allergies. It's that time of year. Always acts up for me in the Spring and Fall.

I began vaping same day as you - all kinds of stuff comes up when you stop breathing smoke. A few days after I did, I spend most of a day with a stoppered nose and coughing up gunk. Still not done with the gunk, but is much less active.

I have absolutely no medical qualifications, and we've never met, so I can't of course say that my experience is in any way related to yours. But what you've described does not sound unusual. So, take it easy today? Keep up the fluids? Distract yourself with a good book and see how you feel in a couple of hours?

Also, check out the Health section of the forum, and look for the stickies talking about common stuff that happens when one quits smoking.

I should have said that yes it is allergie time of year and the congestion is terrible. And also if I'm awake I got some kinda fluid to drink. I even have a very special 64 ounce cup with the sippy straw that goes to bed with me every night. By morning it's almost empty. But then I go to the bathroom a lot also. (Issues between sodium depleated and being thirsty all the time) Doc has checked all this and no answers

If I'm vaping a lot nicotine makes it where I can't clear my throat. I drink water and slow down the fogging.

I read somewhere that people with diabetes , COPD, and a few other health issues should not vape. I'll try to find the article but I don't believe either claim.

edit: Lots of info out there but I don't trust it.

My lung doctor said that it is better for me to vape than smoke. I agree with the problem's COPD causes even I agreeded with the doc that the only things that should go into your lungs is nothing but air. He said that since I've been vaping my lungs have never sounded so clear and my b/p is down almost to normal. But when you go outside you breathe things in that your lungs don't want. So it's a double edged sword. I'll take vaping over anything else I tried so far and I've tried everything on the market that I know of.

Yea even a specialist said that they can't prove that vaping hurts you. The nic is no worse than the caffiene in drinks. In the amount we use. I showed him the bottles I had and he said the only thing that was in there that is not used for medicen is the nic, and food flavoring. Made me happy

Hi tnt - could be that the higher amounst of PG is the problem. Try a flavor in 100% VG and see how that makes you feel or only vape. Call your store and find out the ratio of the N'port juice and as BlueSnake mentioned, drink lots n lots of water. Coffee, soda don't count. Must be water. You might want to check the the health forum for a PG discussion. I find if I vape 100% VG most of the time, I can also enjoy a clearo of juice with PG in it for what it's worth. Keep us updated.

They do, but perhaps not as much as frequently as you vape? Just a thought. I hope you find out what ails thee soon though! It wouldn't hurt to find out the ratio on the locally purchased juice. Otherwise you might be having a reaction to something else (ie sweetener?) in the juice itself which isn't in the Newport blend you have...

That's what I thought Hulamoon: but the rescue meds i have to use have the same stuff in them so I just don't know what to do right now

Go out and ride your Beemer. If I wasn't prepping for a morning at the oncologist's tomorrow I'd be out riding mine!:headbang:

Seriously, fresh air and exercise, and riding a motorcycle is exercise if you're doing it right, can only help.

I have (or rather had) severe asthma. When I started vaping, a few weeks in I started having some coughing and bronchial spasms. Hard to say whether I was just hacking up the gunk or if it was from the vape... but it did seem to happen more while I was vaping. The Dr. said to experiment with PG/VG and see if one or the other was better for me. I ended up with either 50/50 or 60/40 (60 VG). PG caused more irritation, VG caused more throat congestion but less triggering of the asthma symptoms. Since finding the 50/50 or 60/40 solutions, I've been very happy. I do get some throat congestion from time to time depending on my allergies, weather, sinus infection etc... but nothing I can't deal with. I asked isn't VG thick in the lungs, the doc said not as thick as a coating of TAR. Good point.

Oh... and since vaping exclusively for a few months, I've dropped the Servent and Flovent inhalers, no nebulizer twice a day, and have used my rescue inhaler twice in 6 months when I had a cold.

I'm both diabetic (type 2) and have copd. Came free of charge from to much prime rib & cheese cake along with 50+ years of smoking. I also have your same throat and lung problems if I vape to much or insist on to much throat hit. A little lower voltage along with a bit higher nic level inhaled less often solved the problem for me.

I've found that vaping actually seems to clear the airways. In much the same way as breathing steam from a pot of boiling water.
After a while of coughing up gobs of crap, I can breath easier. I don't know how long you've been vaping, but mabe what you're feeling is a bunch of crap from smoking, turning loose, and trying to get out.
I do paint work on cars and airplanes for a living. and have been for the past 30 years. I've found that in the evening, after work, I get that "heavy" feeling. So I grab some red bull, and vape it. It has such a TH that I cough up the days crap, (dust, paint, primer, etc) in a short time. Then I'm good to go.
I also found that after a couple years of vaping, I can not only keep up with my never smoked Dad, but I can now out run him, on his own turf.
