There is an ingredient in some vendor's juices that does this to me. I can taste it, it is perfumey and chemically, and it gives me a thick, sore throat. It surprised me at first to pin it down to that ingredient, but if I stay away from it I am just fine. I generally find that if it is in one of their juices, it may be in others as well so am thinking it is an additive of some sort. Since I do some simple DIY, and have tried various PG/VG mixes I know it isn't either of those.

Now if I could just figure out what it is I could be sure to stay away from it. So, my question is: do ALL juices do this? Or do you find that a different vendor's product doesn't cause this?

Go out and ride your Beemer. If I wasn't prepping for a morning at the oncologist's tomorrow I'd be out riding mine!:headbang:

Seriously, fresh air and exercise, and riding a motorcycle is exercise if you're doing it right, can only help.

I'd love to ride the Beemer but since I wound up with the COPD I couldn't take the chance on having an attack while riding. Already ran a brand new 300S into a concret post. Poor car had less than 4,000 miles on it. I never fixed it cause it just remindes me not to drive when I'm not feeling well. Back to the Beemer now that I feel better I'd love to go riding but I let the battery die and need a new one. All my extra cash got spent on vaping. LOL

I did find out that the stuff I got local was a 70pg/30vg mix. I boought another 10ml bottle of "Cuban" with the same mixture. Neither one of them give me the throat trouble. Last order with ECB I got some different ratios. 70pg/30, 60pg/40vg. I'm gonna try out the different ratios and see what happens. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR that reminded me I got to let it steep for a while. I WANT MY juice. lol.

I have been using 80/20 PG/VG pretty much exclusively. This last week I decided to try 75/25 PG/VG. The difference was astounding. Just that little bump in VG caused noticeable wheezing and mucus. I am in the minority that doesn't tolerate VG.

I vape very heavily, and occasionally would get a little itchy, a common PG complaint. I found that pretty much everything I was using, i.e., makeup, body wash, shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste had PG in it. Exchanged them for PG free items, and now have no problems.

It really is trial and error to find what works best for you. Much luck ;)

I've noticed the past few days that I get a really thick feeling in my throat, and my lungs are start to feel heavy. I got COPD so this is a major concern for me. I can still breath ok but they all feel like they been coated with something I can't get rid of. I'm vaping different ratios of pg and vg. 50/50, 60/40, 70/30. pg being the first number. I know that pg is in my rescue inhalers so I'm not really sure what's going on. I really don't get this feeling from the Nport I use.(no idea of ratio of it cause I got it from a local brick and mortar)
Any ideas? I got a lot of juice coming and it's all different ratios of mix. I vape between 18mg and 28mg.

I have major COPD also. It might just be a minor flareup. I haven't had one since I have been vaping exclusively but it's bound to happen. I used to have the symptoms you describe, especially at night. I feel much better but there is no reversing COPD. It is what it is.

Does your rescue inhaler make any difference?

Brilliant! At least you know what you are tolerating OK, and that's something. What flavors were the ECB and what ratios? I'm still wondering if it could be some sort of sucrose or other in the flavors. While it may well mute some flavors, you might want to try purchasing some 100% unflavored VG with your nicotine strength, and add a little to bring down PG a bit from the 80% levels. Could be a way to save your juice. Nevertheless very glad to hear that you have something you can use and enjoy for now.

Yea there's nothing can fix COPD. The only one I can blalme is ME. The rescue inhalers help some, but then I carry my nebulizer with me about 24/7 also. Just depends on how much trouble I'm having at the moment. Mild COPD exacerbation = rescue inhaler. Moderate Exacerbation = nebulizer and not driving (that's how I wrecked my car). Severe Exacerbation = 911!!!!!!!!!!!
No one to blame but me. Since I've started vaping I've only had one mild attack so far. Keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck with yours also njay23.

You will definitely have flem and other nasty stuff going on as your lungs heal. it can take months. Mine did not start until 3 months after starting vaping. And always remember drink PLENTY of fluids. the more hydrated you are, the better you will be health wise...with or without vaping.

There is never a waking moment that I don't have water or gatorade with me. I even go to bed with a 64oz cup on the night stand. And yes I pee a lot. lol. I've always been thirsty like this. Doctors checked me for all the other bad things that can cause it and finally just told me to drink to my hearts content. Only problem is drinking so much fluid I had to be put on a high sodium diet cause I flush all the sodium from my system. Oh well time for a refill.

Glad I found this. It may well answer my concern.

I quit smoking and after a few weeks, no more scratchy coughing and no more coughing up
flem. All of a sudden, I started to get flem in the mornings. It doesn't last long, but it's not
supposed to be there.

I changed my pg/vg from 80/20 to 70/30. That may be the problem if that little amount affected
you.

I also found it interesting and helpful about the itching. I've been getting that too. Unfortunately,
if I go back to higher vg, it won't help that. But I've found that an 1100 mah battery is long enough
to get those spots in the middle of the back

I've noticed that when I get those symptoms, backing down from 4.2v to 3.7v on my 3 ohm cartos makes a big difference. It's similar to what you got when you changed from full flavor to ultra light cigarettes and is significant, or at least is in my case. We'd all be better off just breathing air than smoking or vaping, but vaping is too much fun. ;)

I love my 100% PG juices, but I find that 80pg/20vg is easier on my lungs. I'm pretty much about taste and aroma and I get more of that with higher PG ratios. If I can get it with PG at lower vapor levels by riding the voltage at a lower level, that's good.

It sounds like you may be sensitive to VG. If the Nport is Dekang, which is 100% PG, then that's most likely it. I have VG sensitivity, where if I use stuff with a high VG content for a while my lungs feel like they're filled up with phlegm, my throat feels like it's coated in phlegm too, and I am constantly coughing up crap as if I were still a smoker. If the NPort you have is not Dekang, and is actually 100%VG than like others said, you likely are PG sensitive. The number one juice i've wanted to try for as long as I can remember is Boba's Bounty but I can't vape any AVE liquids due to my VG sensitivity. :(

So if your lungs are feeling heavy and it may be from a sensitivity PG or VG, how long after switching do you think the heaviness would subside? I can't tell if it is just my horrible lungs or what. I vape some 100% VG and everything else is either 50/50 or 60/40. I don't feel as good as I did say the 1st month after i stopped smoking, feel a little heavy in the chest. I think maybe the euphoria is wearing off and this is what i'm left with. I do have COPD but when I first stopped smoking I almost felt like I didn't anymore. MAybe I should cut out the 100%VG for a bit and see if there is any difference.

Try 70/30 or 80/20 PG/VG. Anything lower than that and if I vape it for a while I get those bad side effects. I do have some higher VG stuff that I use but I don't use it for long and it seems like certain juices I can tolerate VG better in. I picked up a few tiny bottles of RAWR yesterday at VaperCon that are 100%VG but i've only used them a bit here and there, even though they are absolutely amazing. Using them sporadically won't effect me much, but if I used nothing but the VG or 50/50 for a while the side effects would come back. It actually took me a while to realize VG was the culprit because I had generally used 70/30ish for a while before trying 50/50. I love Hot Vapes Hazelnut Praline so much though that I bought two 35mL bottles, and all their juices are 50/50, but I love it so much that it's worth it for me to use it a bit. I just can't use it as an all day vape but as a nice treat here and there. I honestly wouldn't suggest this since I don't know how your body will react, but i've found that just using it sporadically like this keeps the side effects of VG away. You just have to experiment.

I switched vendors for a while and was getting an asthma like reaction and some throat soreness. Just started using DIY as an alternative (using a PG and VG Base) and the symptoms cleared right up. I don't know if it was the flavoring or something else but am pretty sure that I was allergic to one of the ingredients.

I always thought that from a health standpoint, the more VG the better. Is this not true?
It depends on the person. Some people are tolerant of both and can handle any formulation of PG and or VG perfectly fine. Some people are PG sensitive and have allergic reactions and other negative side effects, where as some people are VG sensitive and can have their own side effects, including what I listed above. If neither bothers you, rock it out.
