Edited after realizing the consequences...

Nothing to hide, I tried vaping a drop or two of 60 mg liquid. I can definitely tell it's potent, and it's enough to give me a respect for it. No, I didn't overdose, but damn did I get a really quick nic hit. Not the buzz I'd expect from a cigarette (and what I was secretly looking for) but closer to the effect of caffeine when you're not used to it.

I plan on using the juice for my own mixing, and do not recommend others repeating what I did.

I hear you can poison yourself at this level, but how easily?

So, I have a half liter of 60 mg/ml unflavored juice. Since my 20 ml of RY4 has been lasting me a while, I figure why not give this a shot?
I'm sure most of you would read this and cringe at the thought.

It's not cringing at the thought of you doing it ..frankly could care less. I cringe at the idea of the FDA or gov't using your post as evidence for banning ecigs.... Or in press releases, for promotion to ban high nicotine juices. They've done that with cigarettes and you just provide ammo for them to either ban outright or restrict nic content in ejuice to, say, 6mg.

I'd normally suggest that you edit the post or have the moderators delete it, but it might be worth keeping it around to point to, in the event of a ban to show people how not to screw up a good thing. I mean we have 'newly spawned activists' every week that write the FDA in a fit of anger two days after 'finding ecigs' and then finding that they might be banned, so it is a good chance that the FDA is well aware of this board. And if I worked for the FDA and wanted to ban ecigs, I'd copy your post and save it out, for exactly the reasons I state above.

Adding a drop or two to an already in-use atty can give a welcome boost when one is required. 60mg liquid is economical way to DIY liquids by cutting with VG or PG and adding flavoring, while saving packaging, postage, etc.

Very few people would enjoy this strength liquid full-time, any more than eating a vindaloo curry everyday. But there are smokers who get through 60+ full strength analogs a day, and they need a liquid that works too; can cut down later but getting off the smoke is the key.

This is 6% nicotine; not 99%.

If I was working at the FDA looking at the potential for e-cigs to get people off smoke, I'd want to be sure they delivered sufficient nicotine to be effective.

I happen to agree with that. I don't think that's their purpose there though, or even that it should be.

I think I see your point on the jurisdiction.

But I'm more worried by mention of '6%', as it kind of builds the expectation, and rationale even, for what would be a ridiculous measure should nic. levels be curtailed to anything like that extent.

In terms of standards for liquids and hardware designs where leakage is all too easy, detractors do have valid points that need to be addressed.

To an extent, I agree with the concerns mentioned here. However, there's nothing to stop me from buying a bottle of Nyquil and downing the whole thing, either. Not recommended, but no one could stop me from doing it if I got it into my thick head to try it.

You can't regulate stupid - not to call the OP stupid at all, I'm just saying someone will always find a way to screw up a good thing for the rest of us.

Just think about those tools who managed to kill a busload of nuns while driving and talking on their cell phones, and now if you even have your phone in your hand, you'll be stoned to death. Not that I advocate talking on the damn thing while driving through rush-hour traffic, but I hope you get my point.

Or, how about this...McDonald's coffee now has a warning about hot liquids because some idiot managed to fry her "happy place" when she dumped the whole thing in her lap.

My hair dryer says, "Do not use while bathing." If you ask me, it's just nature's way of throwing some bleach in the gene pool.

Unfortunately, the FDA says bleach is a caustic liquid and we really shouldn't use it, and...........

I'm not sure where the 6% comes from. I'm guessing you're referring to something being considered perhaps? And yes, I'd agree that it would be ridiculous. If you meant me mentioning 6mg then ok. Touche. :)
6.0% is 60 mg/mL, the strength of the 2 drops I vaped.
After reading the replies, I will admit, my OP did sounds pretty dumb. I'll get to editing it so it's not so much FDA fuel.

But still, it should be known that the level I used even in its pure state poses fairly little harm. The nicotine you inhale from it isn't much higher than that of a cigarette either (when you factor the efficiency of the PV).

I respect your point Kent, but it does seem a little paranoid. The concentration isn't as dangerous as it sounds while vaped (definitely not safe for everyday use, but it won't kill you here and there). The true danger is ingesting it or getting a large enough amount on your skin.

Figured that but wanted to make sure.

The title is the easiest to grab... don't know if that's editable.

Again, I don't care what you vape. I'm not concerned even to the smallest amount of consideration as to the danger to you. AFAIK, you're an adult and you aren't violating anyone's rights.... which is why, btw, that I'd abolish the FDA - and a bunch of other three and four letter agencies.... but that's a book. :) I do think it is likely that If they wanted to use the post, that they would. And I think that some of what they've used in the past is a good indication of just how they'd skew data in order to either scare people or ban a substance. So in that sense, I don't think 'paranoid' is appropriate.

The true danger is ingesting it or getting a large enough amount on your skin.

Again, no concern of mine, unless you're throwing it at other people ;-)

I normally vape 36 but I mixed some 42 to try. I could not tell any difference between the 36 and the 42. There was no more vapor or throat hit with the higher mg. I think it would be perfectly fine for someone to try 60 mg. Your body will let you know it you get too much nicotine. It is a very sick feeling with headache and nausea. I just ordered some 100 mg. but I don't intend on trying this. I am afraid I might die.
