Sweating. Yeah, in and of itself, it's not a problem. I had heart function tests a while ago and everything was fine, though I should probably repeat them. I'm loathe to repeat the experience since my "cardiologist" did an EKG and said this, "It appears you may have had a heart attack already. Or, it could have been a lead placement artifact. So, we're going to do an angiogram, (or whatever that's called) and test your heart. I was so stupefied by this I kept asking questions, "Should I stop smoking? Should I not exercise? Wah???" and just got the repeated answer, "Go downstairs and schedule your angiogram." I also requested a repeat EKG because he said it might have been lead placement, but that went over like a lead balloon. The thing is, heart attacks run in my family (on one side, the kind you don't notice, on the other side, just keeling over dead) and I couldn't get in to be imaged for 2 weeks. That was not a fun two weeks and the stupid imaging tests said my heart was totally fine, though it ended up costing about $370, in the end.

I think I might go to a different cardiologist this time. :) But, heart health is important. I guess. AFAIK, though, if I have to die of smoking related *anything* I think I might *prefer* a heart attack, but Racehorse is right, you should get checked out, for your own peace of mind (just don't use my cardiologist, it wasn't *peaceful*. ) The thing that amazes me though, is that I just kept on smoking in the meantime, I mean, being told that sort of stuff in a very cavalier way was *stressful*, I really needed a cigarette(s).

If you can't quit under those conditions, IMO, you are an excellent candidate for vaping :)

Anna....I don't want to go scrolling through all of the posts again to find the one where you mentioned that quitting smoking causes sweating. I quit 4 1/2 years ago. Before quitting smoking I was always cold particularly at night. I used to call my husband "my pot bellied stove" because unless I cuddled up to him to get warm it was not happening. I could not generate my own heat to get warm and go to sleep. We slept under a down blanket winter and summer. I attributed the coldness to poor circulation. So a short time (the exact time frame I cannot remember) after quitting cigarettes and starting to vape, I started sweating at night. I told my doctor that I was probably having night sweats. Of course she HAD to put that in my chart and later I told her to take it off since that is not what it was at all. We finally put a lighter blanket on the bed. I always thought that I probably quit being so cold because had better circulation. But you mentioning that quitting cigarettes makes you sweat makes a whole lot of sense to me. My sweating lasted probably about a year after I quit cigarettes. Everything is normal now, well at least in that regard. Can't have everything! haha

Wow, Ibitz, your story is making me think.... I was constantly cold all the time and even with our ac set at 81 degrees, I'd be in a bathrobe, constantly. I always ascribed it to my thyroid condition, and being fairly skinny, but now that I think about it, I can't remember the last time I pulled that sucker out, but it's been more than a week, I'm certain. I still don't mind the heat, but I'm not constantly layering my clothing anymore, to deal with air conditioning issues. It probably WAS poor circulation, I have those "clubbed finger" things apparently that you get after long term smoking (I had no idea that was a thing, until I went to the Urgent care, the NP showed off my hands to his assistant, LOL.) He said it was an early indicator of COPD and/or heavy smoking. I was like, OH YAY, I'm DEFORMED.

Interestingly, my fingers used to stain a lot, but when we switched to additive free tobacco, that went away. At my first "real" job I used to smoke with the receptionist (she was so cool) and she was constantly bemoaning her "mustache" as she called it....

God. Smoking's so gross. That is LITERALLY and ACTUALLY the first time I have ever typed that sentence, I think :)

I've been off cigarettes and been vaping for about 3 years. What I've noticed is that just because I became so much healthier at a young age (was 23 after quitting cigarettes), it doesn't mean that one takes advantage of their healthy body and goes to the gym daily or does biking, yoga or martial arts you name it. Many of us have that addictive mindframe still. Personally I gained 30 pounds from overeating, lack of exercise and being home too much. But, when I do go out on my bike and ride it's a pleasure to have my healthy lungs back because obviously I notice a difference. I really need to push to get myself up and out and get that exercise. It's a daily battle.

That's for sure. I know that switching to e-cigs is probably the LAST time on earth anyone feels like doing exercise, but I noticed that the more I forced myself to do it, the better I felt. a) sweating out toxins b) endorphins c) if you don't exercise, you may gain weight due to the hand to mouth thing (though I find celery to be a poor cigarette replacement, really) and just enjoying and tasting food more. I forced myself to do the same thing quitting any other substance, even if I felt dreadful stepping on to my mat, I always felt better gettting off it.

I'd have to say that now that I've gotten going, being able to exercise enjoyably is one of my favorite things about vaping, and my husband stuck my bike in the shed and at temps over 115 degrees for a few years, it needs a complete rehab, but I'll probably do it since I know how, so it's cheap. I love biking, and I'd always wanted to bike up Mt Lemon, and then gone *wheeze* but I bet I will totally get to it sometime. Biking's the best way to see the world, and I always felt like a loser because I didn't have the cardiofunction.

What was this thread about again?......

Sweat.

Of which there's no place like home.

If home is New Orleans.

no, it wasnt

in case anyone missed it:

does vaping cause shortness of breath and/or excessive sweating in any of you?

he didn't mention location or ask about location, that is not relative to before/after vaping/analogs

In case you missed it, shortness of breath has been covered ad-nauseum on this site.

Furthermore, OP has listed several changes in his activity and lifestyle that more than explains cause for his changes.

As well, solutions have been suggested.

But I digress.

This direction of conversation, I'd argue is helping even less.

I understand it's quite humid here and the temp has risen, but I was never like this no matter the temp.
Fatigue and an inability to do pretty much anything manual or much exercise?
Always.
In fact, I can run longer than ever now. I've never attempted to pre vaping but we're at a magnificent 30 min of jogging!

I eat no meat and nothing in the way of tasty nibbles so the lack of the recent adding of spice has been horrible.
For a week I've been without so much as a pinch of pepper!
No change.
I've been eating this way for 2 years, vaping for 3. The only change has been that in the last 6 months I use 100% vg.
This or the fact that I only use tobacco has done wonders for my skin.

I've come to the idea, after some reading that my nicotine may be too high. Causing the sweats. I'm going to cut from 12mg to 6 and see if it helps.
It's going to take some fun out of my mtl vaping though :(

Nicotine or cigarettes at least constrict blood vessels making them somewhat smaller and harder for the blood to flow thru. At least that is what my doctor told me. As I had high blood pressure he said that smoking was causing a part of the high blood pressure. Since stopping smoking the BP has dropped enough that he cut the dosage of BP medication.

I take two different BP meds, one in the morning and one in the evening. Diltiazem and Valsartan. The first one blocks calcium causing heart muscles and blood vessels to relax while also lowering heart rate some and the second one blocks something else that causes the blood vessels to relax and be less constricted.

While I never noticed any symptoms of BP, I used to have cold hands and feet. After starting the BP medication that went away. I did also sweat more before taking those medications, so sweating may or may not be related to circulation problems.

I think that's a good point, and I do think the OP should see his doctor about the shortness of breath. Max VG causes no heavy feelings in *my* lungs, but it certainly has also been mentioned (even on this thread). I think the OP was also told to experiment with PG/VG ratios to see if it helped, but if it hasn't been mentioned, it has now.

No meat, no spices or seasonings, no tasty nibbles,,, holy smokes batman, that's enough all by itself to cause me to have fatigue and an inability to do pretty much anything manual or much exercise.

Dump the high % Vg, go to 50/50, reduce Nic to 8mg/ml or less.
Call me in a week to let me know how your doing, I'll send the bill.

Right on :thumb:
I've ordered some with reduced nicotine. I've dropped to 6 from 12, see if it makes a difference. They're still 100% vg and if this don't fix it I'll get the 50/50.
In the meantime I'll go and see the Dr and see what they say.
I mean my breathing seems ok. Not great but respectable. It's just the sweating. If doc says it's not a problem then I'll find something else to start worrying about ;)

Go and hit up that tc thread and find out my mechs will be the death of me...

A diet like that would drive me to smoke.

My scheduled structured exercise plan is every other day with 7 sets of 20 reps each with a curl bar and a 30 minute/6 mile stationary bike ride. I have a 32" flat screen on the wall across from the bike and I watch Netflix while I ride. That helps with the boredom of repetitive exercise.

Quitting smoking gave me back a considerable amount of my lung function. I don't huff and puff like I did when I smoked. At 66 that's a plus!

I'm in better shape than I expected at my age. I do high reps with moderate weights. Joints don't like it when you bench 200 pounds at my age! 20 rep sets with medium weights are easier than 10 reps with a heavy weight.

Starting in my early 20s I bought a lifetime membership at the European Health Spa and met my buddies there a couple of times a week. After they went out of business in the 80s I bought a weight bench, a Total Gym, a treadmill, and an exercise bike. I've used those here and there to keep in shape. When I retired I starting working out more.

That doesn't guarantee long life, but it helps. I feel better when I work out regularly.

Aha. Well being 112 lbs 3 years ago, suffering severe brain damage at the same time, losing the ability to do most things,
as my ability to walk returned I felt it was time to hit the gym.
Being vegan on top of this made the task even harder.
It's push day today and I have made improvements from before but I can still only push 32kg dbs on a good day for 5 reps so although I'm weak you're doing very well for man twice my age plus 10 years...

Just remembered your from the other side of the pond. The dumbbells are 70s

In my 20s I used to do triple bench press sets with 135#, 160#, and 205#. I did sets of 60# and 90# curls and a list of other body part exercises. Those days are gone, but I try to keep in shape with lighter weights and some cardio on the bike and occasionally the treadmill. I do 20 rep free weight sets with lower weight on a curl bar instead of 10 rep sets with more weight.

My main problem is weight. Once I got into my 50s I went from 205# to 234# body weight. I was much happier at 200 and below, but it's hard to burn off the calories the older you get, even with a large body frame. At 205# I could wear 34" waist jeans. Now it's 38".

The joys of getting older and retiring come with their downsides. ;)

I've also noticed that now that drink more water, execisizing kinda makes me drink more, I do get a healthy glow. ;)

Yep, lots of water while watching the carbs so that you don't retain the water. I go through 24 to 32 ounces of water during a workout, but it all comes back to Mother Nature surprisingly fast.
