So, when I was a heavy smoker, I used to think about smoking while I was eating. Not all the time, but a lot of the time. If I were at a restaurant and it was salad served first, then wait 15 minutes, and main meal is served, I'd probably be going out after the salad to have a smoke. And for sure after every meal, I would smoke. Then want some dessert, and another smoke. It was very rare that I smoked while I ate. And sometimes, I'd allow myself to smoke instead of eating (nicotine / smoking seems like it represses my appetite).

With vaping, I very rarely feel a need to vape during a meal. As in, I could sit at a table for an hour, and while it might occur to me to vape, I'm never craving it. But one thing I do notice is I would generally prefer to vape as a dessert than eat a dessert. I can have dessert all lined up 30 minutes before a meal, look forward to that dessert, but because of love for vaping, and a very good flavor, I can vape instead and not even think about dessert (though TBT, I'll probably have some/all of that dessert at a later time). Again, I have rarely, vaped during a meal, but have allowed myself to not eat a meal because my appetite is not there.

So, really just bringing up the dessert aspect and wondering if this is true for others. But as I touched upon more than that, feel free to bring up whatever is your patterns for vaping and meal time.

It's true for me. I never vape while eating but did exactly what you did while I smoked. I think for me it's that I can vape as much as I want while I am at my desk so I don't feel the need to get in as much as I can at other times. I'm able to enjoy those other times for what they are.

Some restaurants take a very long time between dishes. I admit to sometimes stepping out between courses, when I was a smoker. Now that I am a vaper, I can just sit and enjoy the company that I am with while waiting for the next dish.

Depending on how long the dinner was, sometimes I am not bothered with waiting and then having a vape when we have all left the place. Sometimes I will excuse myself for only a few hits off the PV. I do not need to spend the 7 minutes I used to spend when I was a smoker. Now I can just take a couple of hits off the PV and I am good for another long period of time.

:)

Not just eating but in all aspects of life. I was a 3 pad chain smoker so stepping out in the middle of a meal, movie, shopping, was not unusual. Now I rarely pause my life just for a vape. Don't get me wrong...I love vaping...but it just does not control my life the way smoking did.

Never smoked enough myself to get into that kind of habit, but with vaping, I don't vape while eating, but usually after a meal I'll vape. I do definitely enjoy a good vape after a meal but it's not a requirement. I have noticed that vaping (especially sweet flavors) suppresses my appetite somewhat, especially if I'm just looking for a snack because I'm bored or whatever. I've noticed that I'm snacking less and have lost a few pounds which is a very good thing :) Not sure if it's the nicotine or just the hand-mouth and flavor. I can't say I regularly wake up during the night to vape, but if I happen to be awake to use the bathroom or just can't sleep, I might or might not take a couple puffs (but not more than a couple, or the nicotine keeps me awake lol) Never woke up during the night with the sole intention of vaping.

Ah, I remember fighting with one of my exes over the same issue. I just had to get out and smoke between the courses of the meal. He believed I was being disrespectful and I wondered who the .... did he think he is. Anyways, yeh. As a vaper, I don't have the same craving as I had when I was smoking cigarettes. I used to lit up the cigarette as soon as I woke up and between and right after the meals. Nowadays, I have much less cravings and I don't think about grabbing my mod as much as I used to think about getting that damn cigarettes out and inhale the toxic. The only specific occasions I crave vaping is probably when I'm studying, or doing any type of activity that requires intense concentration.

I used to roll out of bed and take a cig into the shower with me in the mornings. Literally. Lol! Now I don't vape until I get in the truck to head out to work. Used to chose restaurants to eat at based on whether or not they still had a smoking section too. I don't vape during meals, but definitely crave it after I finish eating. I don't eat desserts very often anymore. I find a sweet vape curbs the desire for sweet foods.

I never smoked while eating or even thought about it. I might have gone outside for a quick smoke before dessert on the rare occasion that I ordered it at a restaurant.

I have been known to overcook food on the BBQ due to having that last quick smoke before dinner though.

I honestly really only smoked heavily in my truck, at night and while drinking. Seems that I vape the same way.

I smoked over 2 packs a day for well over 20 years. Cigarettes were a big part of my life. I didn't even really want to quit smoking. I just noticed a friend vaping on an ecig and thought I wanted to see what it was all about. That changed my life. I quit smoking the same day my kit arrived in the mail.

I always loved my after dinner/lunch/breakfast/snack cigarettes. I also enjoyed my before and during cigarettes. I also would go out if my meal took longer than average. It's funny but I remember thinking about smoking when I wasn't smoking. During meals I would be thinking about smoking too. It's as though cigarettes take hold of your mind and won't let go. I think it's 70% mental/30% addiction. I remember I had to have at least a full carton in my house at all times. If I got below that I'd start having panic attacks.

Vaping is a whole different animal. I don't think about vaping like I did vaping. I don't get up and go out during meals or think about it while eating. It's more of pure enjoyment than an addiction. You don't need it but you want it. A much better way of living too.

I absolutely love my dessert eliquids. I vape these all day long. It's like eating a delicious dessert all day long but you get no calories from it!

While I was quite a heavy smoker for most of my 65 going on 66 years I was never tempted to smoke during a meal for some reason, probably because I was born under the sign of Taurus and enjoy food too much!

That said I always smoked straight after any meal with my tea or coffee - and now happily Vape instead.

Mind you, first thing in the morning with my wake up pot of tea in bed ( have a teamaker machine in the room) I vape as I used to smoke and think it's just about the best part of the day.

The mind is a funny thing.
