Vaping and medication interaction?

So last night I had a bad sledding accident in which I split my head open after going too fast when the sled it a patch of ice and I hit a metal park playground. I now have eight staples in my head and a concussion. Doctor never asked if I was a smoker (which im not) and I was in too much pain to remember to mention I vaped. Doc prescribed me Percocet and an antibiotic and a tetnus shot. Is there a risk for drug interaction? I really don't want to volunteer to my doctor I vape if I don't have to.

Ps. I'm in a lot of pain and don't want to deal with negative flaming posts so please be respectful in your answers. At least for this thread. Thank you.

I see no reason it would. After I hurt my back at work a month ago they have had me on tramadol and Xanax and they never asked if I smoked or not but I have been vaping while taking them and it's been just fine. Now that may not be the same thing since I don't actually have open wounds but muscle tearing. Glad to see you are ok though. Back when I used to skateboard (without a helmet because I was young and dumb) I've taken a few nasty falls at high speeds going down asphalt hills so I know how head injuries are. Just remember to stay hydrated especially since you are in pain meds since a lot of them can dehydrate you and the PG in e juice can dehydrate you further so just make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids and all should be well

From my own experience, i've had no interactions...so i wouldn't be concerned about the pain meds they gave you. Plus, you'll be off of them in no time. Until then, vape on and get some MUCH needed rest while your body heals from this accident.


Edit: wanted to add this...since you're not use to taking pain meds, be very careful to pay attention to how much you are vaping because if you begin to feel nauseated, light headed or have even more of a headache than you do now (with the concussion), you will def need to back off and not vape as much until you're better. This will help you watch for signs or symptoms that could be important info to give to your dr regarding your injuries.

I'm not a doctor, but even if I were, the answer would be the same: Nobody knows.

Considering that there no known drug interactions with VG :

I'd say, most likely you should be fine.

Thanks! I didn't think about the pharmacist. That's a great idea. When your in pain you forget common sense stuff sometimes.

I'm really sorry for your accident. I can imagine how much you are hurting.

I would like to urge you to have an honest relationship with your doctor. They can't treat you in the best way if you are not honest with them. Health is a partnership.

Unless you have medical training, and know how nicotine, inhaling stuff, etc. affects YOUR particular injury and healing, I urge you to seek medical advice. (pharmacist or doctor)


(I have no idea why people keep this information from their doctors......my feeling is that if your doctor is a judgemental type then change to someone woh you can work with. I have had absolutely zero problems with doctors and I've vaped for 3 years, and every single one knows I vape.) All the doctors I've met are pretty honest about vaping "we just don't know" is pretty much what they say.

I just don't want my insurance premiums to go up because nicotine use is still unfortunately linked with smoking which is bs but that is the reason.

What a ridiculous situation it is in the US where patient doctor honesty is limited because of what insurance company's might do with the information, not having a go at you kieferz and i hope your injuries stay minor and your 100% very soon. Being from the UK I will never understand certain elements of the USA and feel so angry that anyone living in a developed nation has to worry about being totally honest with their doctor .

Maybe not, but it then becomes a part of the medical records which can be requested.

No but they have to mark it on the medical record which gets sent to the insurance company. They require medical records to prove medical necessity to get claims paid. I used to do medical insurance claims processing.
