I've wondered about all that stuff too. I'm one of the weirdo's that really never uses my microwave, and if I say to someone not to heat up their veggies in it they look at me like I'm crazy.

I pretty surprised that they usually don't offer you an apron. Here, it is 100% of the time. Although some don't have the throat collar yet.
I think certain people have varying degrees of tolerance to xrays etc. Some are predisposed to sensitivity to xrays, sunlight, etc.
Xrays are just a different frequency of light. Much like sunlight, microwaves, etc. It's all radiation. We just tolerate it differently.
Personally, I wonder, with all of the various types of radiation floating around, what are we doing to ourselves.
I wonder if anyone has ever compared the increase in overall radiation in our environment...radiowaves, TVwaves, radar, microwaves, cell phone etc ...and compared the overall levels to the increase in "radiation effected illnesses" like cancer, hypothyroidism, etc.

Just something I wonder about.

"Smokers recieve a dose of radiation from polonium-210 which is naturally present in tobacco. Smokers also recieve an additional dose of radiation from the decay product of radon gas, polonium-218. Polonium-218 clings to aerosols such as tobacco smoke, and eventually winds up in the lungs. Once in the lungs, polonium decays by alpha particle emission and in the process may damage cells."

I've been vaping for over 1 1/2 years and the doctor just lowered my meds for the second time in that time. My thyroid went nuts when I was on the Atkins diet, many years ago. Don't know why, but the Atkins book even says that if you have an undiagnosed thyroid condition when you start the diet, it will show up when you have been on it a while.

I'm sure it would but then it would all be screwed up when you add unnatural foods and pollution to the mix.

99, That was a very intersting article. I've often wondered if we could track the use of man made "waves" from ... oh let's say...1935 to present.... and compare it to the rise in cancer. Would the curves match? I doubt the data is available.

well-its seems kind of impossible that vaping would cause thyroid issues-but... how come i felt tightness in throat when ever i vaped that liquid and when i stopped-after a while, it went away(few hours or so)-that makes me wonder... i still have those liquids and i was thinking of sending those for toxin testing but i cant figure out who could check it or where... if i just could be sure that it wasnt vaping that gave me that thyroid issue...

Well-i didnt have that tightness feeling issues with other company e-liquid (i was using it about 1 year) then i got an offer to review another brand e-liquid and i vaped 5 different flavour e-liquid...these all had funny after taste (the same taste) - cant really describe it... well they were weird-i gave feedback to reseller that these have funny taste and so on... and now i think that they might have made a mistake-used wrong substance or so-because i think that they were new to e-liquid making... after a while i got new package from them and those e-liquids were ok(no tightness feeleing and taste was ok)-except coffe flavour...still had some weird taste in it... Uhh well-in the end...i cant be sure before ill send these for analysis. So heres the question-to where i should bring those e-liquids? i mean...what you think who could analyse such thing?

All my life i have been over weight and have had my thyroid tested several times but never given a definitive diagnosis since some times i would be a little low then a little high so they just left it alone.

Since quitting smoking i have gained about 40 pounds in less then 2 months and my feet have been so swollen i can only wear flip flops. I got to the point i was sleeping like 12-16 hours a day and all around felt like dog poop. I dont have insurance so i kept putting off going to the doctor in hopes it was just withdraws for quitting smoking, but finally realized after weeks of this i was not getting any better as time went on i was actually getting worse.

So last week i went in and the doc they ran blood tests and my thyroid levels are really bad. So they put me on L-thyroxine and i go back in on the 29th but i am only on day 3 and i finally feel awake for the first time in over a month. Now if the swelling in my feet would go down i would be happy.

I dont blame this on vaping because the swelling has been gradual over the last 8 months or so and just became permanent after quitting smoking. I am confident that my smoking was just masking my real issue and quitting just brought the real problem to the forefront.

I just pray that i can loose this weight as fast as i gained it like the other person who posted above.

this thread caught my attention because I meet this week with an Endo to discuss thyroid nodules diagnosed in May. Non cancerous - but beyond that I don't know squat about them. Oh and all my blood work has been "normal".

I didn't start vaping until Aug 2 - so vaping isn't the cause of the (possible?) thyroid issue here - however I have been a fairly heavy smoker for years 1/1+ pack per day.

I quit smoking & turned to vaping Jan 1st, from that day forward I have never felt worse. I am post menopausal & so I stopped my natural hormones, everything for a month then asked dr for a complete blood panel plus all the hormones, thyroid including the speciality tests
Bingo: yes my thyroid is so severely off it was affecting all my other bloodword..nightmare
but its because the smoking was actually medicating a thyroid condition & when i went to vaping it all started coming to the surface.
now of course treating that w/ part prescription part natural medicine.
YES THERE IS A LINK BUT THE VAPING IS SAFE & SO MUCH BETTER FOR YOUR HEALTH:p

I think sometimes things take years to show up, once damaged and it can be so hard to pinpoint what, if anything, caused it. I'm so sorry to hear that you are having health problems :( I hope the Dr. Figures things out for you and keep your chin up!

I will say that since I've started doing Hatha Yoga my health has greatly improved, maybe give it a shot?

Im glad you got bloodwork done also but i dont think your problems are due to vaping. It may be a pg allergy or something else thats going on. I have a hypoactive throid myself and had to have radioactive iodine treatment done and now have to take thyroid medicine for the rest of my life now. The symptoms your describing doesnt sound like its your thyroid. Its probably something else... It may be something do to smoking tobacco prior to starting vaping! I hope your doctor is able to figure it out for you and you get better soon! Good luck!

Hei... i have vaped a year now and recently i stopped, because i started to feel weird-tightness around throat and itchiness in belly(like you have with anticipation). Those symptoms may indicate thyroid problem and today i went to doctor and they took some blood test-ill get the answers in a week. I started to get these symptoms when i started to smoke different e-liquid(about 2 months ago)...well i dindt get those symptoms all the time when i vaped the new e-liquid, but i did get those every now and then-soo i stopped vaping and after 2 weeks i got these symptoms again-and now im really worried that i ruined my health with vaping. Has anyone had any problems with thyroid after starting to vape? And is it even possible that e-liquid could ruin your thyroid?

Why would you think this is thyroid? Or anything to do with vaping?

That's a definite possibility. Well, as good a possibility as anything since we're all guessing.

I just love ECF! I have been vaping for 8 months and feeling pretty yucky since I quit smoking. Of course I ignored the symptoms and didnt go to the doctor. Finally went in because of heart issues and shortness of breath. I was sooooo afraid it was from vaping. Seems that my thyroid is way over its limits... and now that I have read this thread, I know it isnt from the nicotine liquids :) (thank god!)

I have had my uptake scan and there is no cancer or goiter... so now I go see the endocrynologist and see what we are going to do about it, ecocardiogram to see if the high levels did any lasting damage. Uggggg, I hate going to the doctor!!!!! But my doctor is very cool and lets me vape in the exam room LOL

Thanks for all the stories, it eased my mind
