Vaping at work

I'm in the Air Force and spend half of my time in the office and the other half wrenching on airplanes. We obviously can't vape on the flight line but many people use our smoke area to vape when we have no rules against it. Sadly I can't even risk vaping inside for the risk of a colonel walking by and assuming I'm smoking...

I vape in my lorry when out on the road, although when I have to work within the boundaries of Gatwick airport I tend to vape at designated smoking areas as its a chance to catch up with colleagues and mates from other companies. Sometimes I vape in the crew room but only if its pissing down with rain, no one else seems to mind, they just say i'm smoking crack*

*don't tell an ill informed security officer it is a crack pipe as you will never see it again!

I feel lucky to have such a cool working environment. We are all the same age here, 45ish and most of us partied in the 80's. The reaction I've gotten from everyone is encouragement for quitting analogs. There are several of us vaping now and anytime someone gets a new juice, we pass it around. LOL The owner of our company actually thinks it's kind of funny.

I think there's such a backlash against smoking that it will be a long time before vaping is fine in the workplace, if ever.

I don't blame people who don't smoke/vape ingest nicotine for preferring vaping outside. I do think, however, it's draconian not to permit vaping anywhere on the workplace property (i.e. outside). That's ridiculous.

I run my own business (work at home), but if I had an office with other people, I don't think I'd vape in the office out of respect for their concerns. Besides, I don't mind stepping out for a break.

Keep in mind that the first people to complain about "inhaling" water vapor from an e-cigarette being bad for their health are the same people to go to Starbucks and get a five-shot cappuccino. I love coffee, and I drink a lot of caffeine, but I'm not a hypocrite. Nicotine is no more harmful than caffeine, and there are virtually no restrictions anywhere of purchasing caffeinated beverages.

I don't know my boss's actual policy on vaping in the work place. I work in the kitchen of a small tavern. We (my vaping coworkers and I) still go outside out of respect for the boss though I'm sure my boss wouldn't care too much as long as customers couldn't see us in the window. But I bet the old regular customers would probably have flashbacks to the days when all of the staff smoked inside and you couldn't see for crap four feet from your face.

I vape in my office but my office is out of the way and I don't do it when people come in. we are getting ready to move and they are giving us cubes in the IT room and my IT lead is a anti and he'll ether have the cube in front or behind me so I wont be vaping there but I'll find a huddle room or duck into the lan room to vape.
