Ok, this is what I don't get. Why should we feel obligated to stay in a smoking area because we don't want antis feel uncomfortable. But by pushing vapers to smoking area you are subjecting them to secondhand smoke and the smell of smoking. Was that what we are trying to get away from? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of vaping? So what if it "looks" like smoking. It's NOT smoke. If vaping is annoyance then smoking analogs is annoying as an ignorant antis breathing.
On lighter note: So if I can't vape because it looks like smoking, does this mean I have to quit filling my water bottles with vodka? :D

I have accidentally walked into a Safeway store with my bloog clenched between my teeth, totally unaware, a couple of times. I don't think anybody noticed it at all. I do recall a recent news story of a guy getting arrested on a plane for refusing to stop using his e-cig. The only time I had an unusual experience was when someone mistook my usb passthrough for a usb flashdrive. I work at a pc helpdesk and had to go offsite to replace a workstation and left my e-cig plugged into my computer. While I was gone, a coworker needed to use the workstation but couldn't get Windows to safely remove or display the flash drive. My bloog was connected to a mini usb charger with the red and blue LED indicator, and it actually does resemble a flash drive. At the time he wanted to remove it, the LED was in the process of changing from red to blue to indicate a full charge. The LED flickered with a purple color and gave him the impression that data was being written to the drive. He then came to the conclusion that the reason he couldn't see the drive was due to the usb ports being blocked for security reasons. If that were true, why was the LED on? He then tried connecting it to other computers with the same result. When I returned there was a group of people by my workstation laughing. They had just done a web search for bloog.

I have always been of the opinion that if you have to hide what you are doing, then is is probably wrong. I don't really mean that you should flaunt it, but I know that if people are aware that you are doing something and trying to hide it as if it shouldn't be seen, then the message they receive is that you also believe that it is wrong. Then you are viewed as a hypocrite, and what you have to say about your actions have very little meaning.

Vaping discretely has allowed me to vape in a Broadway theatre, movie theatres, on an airplane (blanket over my head), I vape in my office throughout the day, in restaurants and no-smoking bars. I vape in my house, (never smoked there), in my car and around my family members...even in the hospital. Discretion is the key though for most public places, so I do not draw attention to myself.

I have only been vaping for about a week so my experiences are limited.

I vaped for an hour after eating at a Ci Ci's pizza while my neice played with friends.
I vaped all the way through the grocery store on a Saturday afternoon.
Last night I had margaritas with my hubby at Rancho Grande and vaped away for at least two hours and seated near many other people.
All of this was "stealth" vaping - holding the end so no one saw the light and double inhaling so no vapor. Not one look or question.

I did see something funny while driving though. I was coming into my neighborhood on my way home and was just taking a drag when another car passed going the other way. I guess the green light pointed in his direction because I saw him flinch and sort of swerve a bit. I will certainly be more careful of that in the future!! lol

Geez, why am I having flashbacks to my breastfeeding in public days. I just can't do anything right in the public eye anymore! Breastfeeding, vaping... oh the travesty! First you poo poo me cause I'm smoking("You shouldn't smoke, because it's bad for ya."), now you poopoo me because I'm still addicted but using a healthier alternative? I'm not going to quit vaping because you give me the stink eye.

Ok,ok, anyone who actually had the gall to come to me about my e-cig has been more curious than anything. I actually get a "congrats" more than anything. I have yet to get a "You can't do that here!". Show me where in this thing that there is tobacco and I will abide by your anti-tobacco rules.

What is it with people these days? My health is none of your concern and last I checked e-cigs don't affect yours.

There! My light-hearted rant of the day. :)

Hi, I initially started to vape to solve a road warrior pet peeve- having to go outside of the hotel lobby several times a night to have a cigarette- I wanted to smoke in my room... Besides that, I am loving vaping on bed and on my home office- big no-no for cigarettes, since I have cats and didn't want them to second hand smoke. So, what about you? Where do you vape?
I hear here in Dallas there are no laws against vaping in restaurants or bars- it is ok to do it; at the managers discretion. Do you vape in bars and restaurants? At work? Where do you vape that you wouldn't smoke otherwise?

I vape just about anywhere I go, stealth mode activated!
I have vaped on a plane, dinner, you name it.
The things is..and I have to bite my lip when I say this. We know that vaping is not smoking, a lot of people don't. They see vapor they think smoke they will tell managers, store owners and what not. The manager will most likely ask you to take it outside. I had one dude tell me "Hey man, I know that not smoking, but people are complaining, can you take it outside" Dude has a business to run..course I thought "Well the fact that they are ignorant is their problem not mine! Send em over here and I will tell em the deal!" But..he had a business to run.. I said "cool". Since then my non-smoking area vaping, and there is a lot of it, is stealthy! You cant educate the masses... grinz. Gotta get into the mind of the peeps that would tell on ya..they don't care if its smoke or not, so long as they can make you go outside they feel empowered.. I could go on about that (grin).
General rule of thumb, if you cant smoke there, don't openly vape there.

Most places were they do not allow smoking will not want someone to vape in the establishment. They say that it appears that someone is smoking in the place

It does.. I will give em that. Keeping in mind that anti-smokers will straight up leave a place if they think that someone is even thinking about smoking there. If I owned a business, unless it was a straight up smoking allowed business, I would simply look at the dollars..which does it cost me less to tick off, the one vape guy or the 10 anti-smokers.. Yeah I would make the dude take it outside or at least be stealth about it. I have to watch myself on this one or I will get all RIGHTEOUS..damn it I AM NOT SMOKING! (grin).

You got a good point as well. I do get a little thrill when in stealth..like I am getting away with something (grin). Hypocracy..ah its overrated. Bring on the hypocracy! At least till everyone knows that vapor is not smoke..its just easier and IMO nothing to feel guilty about, essentially you are just recognizing that people are conditioned that all.

I guess I answered a little of my own question this week... I was on a business trip in Vegas for this past week, and vaped everywhere. Of course it is ok to vape in bars in Vegas, but I also vaped in restaurants, in my booth at a convention (discretely, of course, not in front of customers), and at the airport. While at the airport, booth and restaurants I just held a while before exhaling so there was no vapor at all. There was not one complaint. Has anyone here done this during a long flight/inside of a plane?

I vape on airplanes all the time. Miami to LA and back twice a month. The FAA is silent re: ecigs, but AA has a policy to not allow them. So I am careful. I always explain my EGOS to whoever I'm sitting next to, and ask if they mind. I've never had anyone have a problem with it. Some juices have more odor than others, I use ones that have little or no odor, and I pretty much stealth vape. I don't really want anyone seeing what they may think is smoke. I see the same aircrew members all the time and I've explained e cigs to many of them. By and large they don't give a .... so longs as there are no clouds of vapor and no one complains or can smell it. be discreet. I've only been told once not to vape......That's a whole other thread.
