I stealth vape in Walmart and grocery stores, but it has to be an aisle where no one else is shopping. Personally for the small amount of time I spend in grocery stores I don't jones and could also just leave the unit in my car. But it feels neat that I can get away with something I technically should not be doing. In hotels I vape freely in my room even if it is non-smoking. On Amtrak I have to be careful. I keep a watch out for conductor if I have no seat mate. If conditions are bad then I head off to the rest room and vape. I was in NYC last spring and asked the bartender in the hotel lounge if I could vape. She allowed it. (She also informed me Marlboros were 14$/pack in the city). I have never had a problem vaping in my auto. I figure people think I am smoking. If cop pulls me over, thinking I am smoking pot, the jokes on him...or maybe we'll win a new convert.

Been vaping for a year now and this is my first post. I started with a 510 kit, then used the Hello 016 batteries, after those all died, I got the maxi rough stack 2 from Madvapes. I just ordered an Eclipse though wanting an auto feed, variable voltage mod. I stealth vape at Disneyland although cast members have approached me then say "oh, electronic cigarettes are ok". I just stealth vape because I don't want to cause attention. If I do go to a designated smoking area I just get funny looks, then the analog users asking if it's a pipe for weed,. Otherwise I vape away from children/infants and do it outside of buildings and try to respect others. If I'm stuck having to stay in a building I'll end up going in stairwell or bathroom.

yikes. that is true; without the roadside test, it could be likely that they'll not give you benefit of the doubt, and to be "extra safe" confiscate it. Aaargh, that would suck. (slight side note: if it does get legalized, there's no roadside test AND it's in your system for up to 30 days after imbibing... the chances of getting busted for being under the influence when you're not seems WAY too high... no pun intended...)

I think it's a highly technical little dance, treading the line between being rightfully nonchalant, and letting others know it's not a big deal, and being respectful in certain places and not being showy-offy. Like at the symphony, I saw nothing wrong in a few puffs throughout, but trying to maintain respect by not throwing puffs of vape in the air that distract the people behind me, or letting the light on the end distract the orchestra. Delicate dance, i tell you, it's a delicate dance. As far as spreading the movement, I think slow and steady may win the race...

Any private business owner has the right to stop you from vaping. You should ask IMO. And in some places it is treated exactly like smoking.

Correction: Any private business owner has the right to ASK you to stop vaping. They can't actually stop you any more than they could prevent you from chewing bubble gum--if you make a big scene out of it, they have every right to kick you out, but if you don't blow giant bubbles or huge plumes of vapor, no one even needs to know you're doing it!

I just went to a Josh Groban concert last night and vaped the whole time. It was dark in there and everyone's eyes were fixed on the performance so maybe no one noticed. As long as there's no bad smell, I don't think people really care what you're doing. Also, I vape in bars all the time. The bartenders usually just look at me and smile. They know it's not a real ciggy.

Um I usually go along with the rules of smoking when Alcohol is involved. Drunk analog users can be giant babies when I get to vap inside while they have to go outside. Everywhere else I usually ask first. Places like Wal-mart or grocery stores I just vap away like a mad man. I also very much so LOVE vaping as I walk into large stores as I pass by all the analog smokers shunned to suffer from the current weather conditions to smoke. My secret is that I avoid mentioning the 1% nicotine that "may or may not be present" in the vapor exhale. I am sure that it would not cause any harm, but really do not wish to get into that area while shopping or what not. I usually just say something like "what you see is pure vapor, the small amount of nicotine is absorbed by my mount and lungs" i have no clue if that is accurate, but it usually gets neh-sayers off my back.

I usually don't mind going out to the smoking section with my friends as long as I have a good vape with me. Propylene Glycol vapor is an air sanitizer so if I don't like their secondhand smoke, I take a "toot" and smile. The downside is that it can be hard to vape in peace because somebody will ALWAYS ask questions so if I'm not in the mood to jabber about how much better vaping is than smoking or if the weather sucks, I'll stay inside and vape discretely. ;)

I've recently found out that vaping (instead of smoking) is not only allowed but encouraged at the office, manager thinks that smoke-breaks decrease productivity. I started vaping 3 days ago and was not only congratulated but even specifically told to use the mains to charge my batteries (very strict policy on what we can use the electrical sockets for)!

The coffee shop I hang out at has a specific "no vaping" policy, they say there isn't enough awareness yet so it puts off other customers. It's sad but at least they have a reason..

Win some/lose some! At least now I can vape at home, I would never smoke at home cause I hated the smell the next day!

If you make vaping annoy people it will be banned and taken away... There's no reason to push it and try to vape in every spot 24/7.

I vape in my home, but that is only because I'm single. If I was married or had children I would go outside. I treat the Joye ego just like the cigarettes. Anywhere smoking is prohibited I don't vape.

No one is suggesting that one should go up to others and blow vapor in their face, which is an inference that is ignorant. Those of us who believe we need to advocate for vaping and openly vape, also state that we must use common sense and respect.

But perception IS reality. If your actions say: Danger - vaping is the same as smoking, then that is the perception the uninformed will have.

Hi, I initially started to vape to solve a road warrior pet peeve- having to go outside of the hotel lobby several times a night to have a cigarette- I wanted to smoke in my room... Besides that, I am loving vaping on bed and on my home office- big no-no for cigarettes, since I have cats and didn't want them to second hand smoke. So, what about you? Where do you vape?
I hear here in Dallas there are no laws against vaping in restaurants or bars- it is ok to do it; at the managers discretion. Do you vape in bars and restaurants? At work? Where do you vape that you wouldn't smoke otherwise?

Hi there, i started a yr ago and have finally gone full time. In restaurants I just get curious looks. On Delta airlines they don't want you to vape at all. I really haven't been given any hassles. If you have no fire you are not smoking. Good Luck

Most bars in Vegas allow smoking so I vape here to heart's content. I don't vape in restaurants, usually. Our vaping meet-up group always meets in a restaurant (usually TGIFriday's) but we get our own section and with prior consent of management. This first time I attended one of these was at Joe's Crab Shack and there about twenty vapers in the center of the place and tables loaded with juice bottles and mods. Not having been to one of these before it looked a little weird as I was expecting to be hidden away in something like a banquet area. But none of the regular patrons had issues with vaping and many came over to our tables to learn more.

its kinda strange, in my entire life, i think i've seen one guy while i was hanging out somewhat far away from my neighborhood smoking but the .... didn't get shorter and i was like how are u doing that? and he said it was an electric cigarette.

other than that i have never seen a vaporer in public or.. at all. for me it feels kinda wierd vaping in public cuz the reality that probably 99% of people who see me have no idea what i am doing, so maybe other vaporers are just not letting it be noticed when they vape, but i think slowly people need to make aware to the general public that teh vapor is completely different that smoke.

I manage a 7-11 and we have had ecigs for sale for a year. California stores have had them longer. I use a Riva 510 that doesn't look like a cig and I use it freely around the store 'spreading the good news" so to speak. A lot people respond with something like 'is that one of those electronic cigarette gadgets?" I reply that it is and then I either point them to our own display or tell them where I got mine. This Spring when I rode the Amtrak to the East coast I would gather with the smokers (about six in all) during the short smoke tops Amtrak occasionally has and vaped on my Riva midst those who were puffing away on their analogs. Not one person ever remarked nor asked me what I was up to. I think maybe they knew or maybe they just didn't notice. Hard not to notice, though, when the Riva unit looks nothing like an analog.

I don't tend to vape anywhere I didn't smoke, just 'cause I'm chicken. It's been 4 months for me, and I have yet to see anybody else vaping - and I'm in San Francisco. Where the heck are they? SF is so persnickety about environmental/civil issues - I'm sure some ignorant idiot would complain. I guess I could just ask first if I really needed to, but so far I haven't had to.

I live in Virginia where the Atty General has gone on record as stating that e-cigs do not violate the clean air act. Legally, one should be able to vape anywhere in VA, but I always check with the establishment first. My mother, more brazen and I, will vape anywhere she wants. LOL

Edit: I also have cats and I was concerned about cigarette smoke around them especially when they'd run away from it after sniffing it. They usually do not react at all to vapor and they've never run away from it.
