Vaping beside computer

I used to smoke beside my computer; now it's vapor. Smoking I'm sure isn't good. It of course builds up dust and, over time, that sticky tar film on computer parts. I don't imagine that much harm coming from the vapor but I notice that it does get sucked right in from the huge side fan on my tower, which sits on the desktop next to my monitor. But then there are 2 other intake fans and 3 really big exhaust fans and another one blowing on the processor. That's 5 large fans and one small one all circulating the air probably pretty quickly. Hell, the vapor on the radiator might even help with the processor cooling. But then water and electronics weren't meant to meet in most cases.

So, wha'd'you think? Harmful? Helpful? Neutral? My guess is neutral, but I'm by no means an expert on vapor or computers.

Overall room humidity wasn't as much a concern as a huge cloud of vapor going straight into the tower. I didn't really think it was harmful at all with all those fans and airflow. I was kinda hoping some computer geek was going to say something along the lines of, "yeah, I tested it. My processor temperature drops 12% when the vapor cloud hits it." Wishful thinking. :p

All depends on if the vapor that we produced is distilled water or not, or pg/vg. If theres a condensation of regular water then thats really bad but pg/vg and distilled water won't hurt anything.

I too have my nice computer on my desk next to me. If you know anything about cases, I have a fractal design define mini, love it, but it's made to be quiet so the fans don't suck he vapor as much.

Yeah I tried it, it doesn't help :p As big of a radiator or fans you have, the processor can only be as cool as the temperature of the room. But nah, not a degree less

Actually, it's not 12%, it's 3.94%.

Kidding. :)

As an old technician from way back, let me tell you--your computer technician always knows if you smoke. It builds up horribly on the fan blades and heat sinks, then gums up and traps dust. Eventually, it can kill your computer if it gets bad enough.

Vapor, I see no buildup anywhere, and it won't condense in your computer anyway. Post a few seconds past turn-on, the environment in there is warmer than your office/room. Water generally only condenses on a cooler surface than the air temperature.

It's theoretically possible that normal buildup might attract dust, but it's going to be many, many times slower than smoking around the machine. VG, at least, is slightly oily. PG is faintly sticky.

It's nothing I'd concern myself with, however. As much as vaping is better for you than smoking is, it's also better for your computer.

I'd still try NOT to blow large clouds directly into the machine, but that's just common sense.

Ah, so that's what happened to my old machines - a combination of sticky buildup from cigarettes and the wrong porn sites. Well, I don't blow the vapor directly into my machine, it just gets sucked there by the huge side fan. And I don't visit any porn sites at all on this machine just as a precaution against sticky buildup and VSTDs (Virtual Sexually Transmitted Diseases) within the software. That's what I use my smartphone for. It's a whole lot easier to carry into the bathroom.

LOL. The only problem I notice is when I have some ejuice on my fingers and it gums up my keyboard. simple wipe does it (bless the water solubility).

I have a computer that I have used and abused for 12 years (file server duty today) and he needed serious gunk cleaning from all the analog smoking I did around it.

My experience with fog machines (i used to be a club dj) lead me to the conclusion that VG (which is old style fog juice) would leave a gummy residue on the walls after YEARS of nightly use. PG does not seem to produce the same effect.

Moral of the story - whatever little residue vaping might produce, pales into insignificance next to the tarry awfulness generated by analogs.
