Never use starting fluid on a Diesel but a gas engine it isn't a problem. I usually drain the fuel and fog the engine but last year I never got around to it. It got a tune up last year a plug and an air filter. Maybe be time to rebuild the carburetor I will see if I have any problems with it. started with one pull every time I shut it down to empty the bag.

I love my mower.

Fully automated.
Never needs a tune up.
Has a built in clock. Knows exactly what time of year to start and stop mowing.
Doesn't have a pull string, battery or need cords.
Knows to mow on dry days.
Knows to mow down low before winter.

His name is Geoff.
- Or Jeff -
Dunno

But he does my 45 degree plus sloped 1.6 acres for $25 a week.

I have the wife pay him $30 and a tall glass of fresh squeezed orange juice.

She has no idea the joy she's missing.

The Briggs and Stratton 5HP motor on my mower is over 25 years old and last year I did not winterize it so was a few extra pulls when I started it a week or so ago for the first cut. A little starting fluid always makes it fire right up.

Man, oh man!! You gotta love those old Briggs and Strattons!!! I've leaned alot the past 5 or 6 years about B&S and the old ones are the best.. takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'! The newer ones? :grr::grr::grr: :censored::censored::censored: we had a push mower for 3.58 acres... Not fun! But the old B&S would still run if we could find a damn Carburetor Mounting Bracket for it, the old one broke and we searched literally everywhere internet and B&M. :(

We ended up having to buy a Riding lawnmower with Extended 4 year warranty coverage just so we can get it fixed when we need to... already had a new engine put into it because when we sent it in for some maintenance (why do it yourself when the warranty covers it? :p) they said our mower was apparently under a Recall but Tractor Supply apparently didn't get that memo. :grr: been using that Mower all winter to pull this big ol' trailer we bought to go with it. Can haul up 1300lbs so yardwork has been awesome this past year!!! And the best news of all? We found a gas station close to use that sells pure gasoline without that filthy ethanol!!! That crap seriously screws up small engines! (RIP weedeaters and chainsaw carburetors :()

My theory is the Wal-Mart's of this world are to blame.

Go try to buy a B&S.

You can't get one for under $100 at any horse power or CC.

    Yet I can buy a complete lawnmower with a 5 horse B&S for $89.99?

I put B&S (I think 6.5 horse) Vanguard motors on the kids' go carts a couple of Christmas' ago.

    Never seated the rings.
    Never changed the gas.
    Never winterized.

Just put valvoline synthetic 30 weight in there so I don't have to change the oil according to seasons.

They both start with 1 gentle pull, every time.

    Every time...

    But they were $300 each.

Comparable Honda motors START @ $600.

    Tecumseh? Forget about it...

Buying power doesn't make up for that price difference.

Someone had to order B&S motors with some SERIOUS corners cut to offer a lawnmower for under $100.

My little Craftsman (self propelled by me) is the Provari of push mowers. It has been going strong for 14 years now. Has always taken one pull to start it even after sitting idle all winter. My original mower was a murrey (sp) from wally world. It gave up the ghost within 5 years  Guess it was a clone :D

I had to do some serious talking to hubby to convince him that I really did want a mower of my own. We have a riding mower (actually a 1978 cub cadet) but I don't care to mow with it. I like the exercise I get when using a walk behind mower. The cub is the REO of mowers. It just keeps on going no matter how it is treated.

oops, Sorry guys. Looks like I got caught up in the off topic discussion :(
Now back to our original topic ......

Does Geoff (or Jeff) commute or have any interest in relocating? And if he has any coil building/DIY capabilities, adoption is not out of the question....................no matter his age!

I'm trying to imagine what a cow could do with $30 and a tall glass.

And how it would ask for $25.

    I'm drawing a blank.

Jeff (I assume) is a neighborhood guy seated right smack dab in the middle of his family.

    I doubt he's going anywhere.

I just lucked out when I bought this house.

He lives next door and had an arrangement with the previous owner.

I'm sure he'd appreciate the offer.

Oh, my brother has 25 acre spread in central Fl. He actually rents space to people who own cows.
They keep the Meadow well manicured.
Sometimes he negotiates a side of beef..l

I've learned to run a pipe cleaner thru my atomizer after refill which stops the gurgling. I rinse the pipe cleaner off in water, it dries by the time you need it again. Even using it 2-3 times per day a pipe cleaner will last a month.

I went to my Oncologist day before yesterday. I'm still cancer free 9 months after my operation to remove the upper lobe on my right lung. I've haven't had nor have I been prescribed any chemo or radiation. They got it all. At the end of this month I will be tobacco free for 1 year, the anniversary of the day they discovered a spot on my lung when I threw the 1/2 pack that was in my pocket out of the car window. Vaping has helped me quit cold turkey. I'm to the point if I forget my tank at home I'll drive back to get it just like I did cigarettes. I guess I have an addictive personality.

Money up in smoke wasn't a waste? Wait a second what is wrong with that picture?

I see it as gas in their yacht, their vacations staying at the ritz and eating fancy, living large and spending aimlessly. BT CEO's and government officials enjoying my money...not no more. Its going to get crappy up here in Canada soon, they are talking about 20 to 30 cents a liter(80 cents to a 1.20 per gallon) increase in gas here in BC. Its already hit Vancouver with gas being over 1.40 a liter...Now everybody is going to pay from I'm assuming partly from the loss of cig tax but no way in hell are the fat boys going to take a wage cut or give up perks, just increase taxes on everything we touch.
