Hi fellow vapers!

I had to write this today because i felt strange.

Today was close to a bus stop (close means outside the boundaries and a few steps away) and was vaping in an open space, where i couldn't be fined for vaping ;)

Of course the clouds were there, and were big. Then a woman passes by and with something resembling a chinese restaurant takeaway brochure covers her face in what I interpreted as disgust...

And i felt anger inside of me! How people can be so ignorant to judge without understand that she would probably never feel the smell (no tobacco btw) and neither the nic absorption would be even remotely comparable to 1 second exposure to an exhaust pipe of a London bus?

I guess i have to accept people is just like that. I guess that's why people are different, someone more curious than others, someone invented the wheel and some other still carried things on their back. But hell if i wanted to follow her vaping the .... out of my mod into her face!

Do I have to worry about judgment even where I am allowed to vape? Hell no! More clouds, more fun.

You make me laugh. Since when blowing clouds is forbidden or bad practice? The negative reaction is not because of the clouds but because of the bad pr media has given to the practice of vaping. Adhere to that and you will be classified as a smoker even if the process is completely different.

Imagine if teleportation was invented and people will get speed tickets even if the dynamic of moving things around doesn't even remotely compare to engines, speed and thermodynamics

I was vaping at the train station this weekend, coming home from the farmer's market. It wasn't crowded, so when I walked down to the end, I was well away from everyone.

A woman walks right up to me, points, and says, "What is THAT?"

I said, "Um, it's a vape pen."

She said, "Yeah, I know that, but what's THAT?"

"Oh, that's purple basil."

Vaping outside should be considered free territory, IMO. Vaping huge clouds can be a negative publicity issue for all of us. Most of the people on ECF quit smoking by mimicking the action of smoking by vaping and using their ecig to supply nicotine replacement at 10 watts or so. I'm sure someone will pile on about vapers' rights as it pertains to blowing clouds, but that's not the original intent of vaping.

People don't really know what we are doing in many cases. Vaping has been used for illegal substances, too. When I vape in public I tend to blow it down my shirt to keep from attracting attention. There's been lots of times when people stopped to ask me about my ecig. They usually know someone who needs to quit smoking and I give them some information and a link to ECF. Vaping in public can be a positive tool for educating others.

I remember once when I had an airport layover in Houston, on a flight between Atlanta and Los Angeles. I was still smoking then. I deplaned and walked a quarter mile of concourses to a designated smoking area. I finally lit up my cigarette and exhaled (right next to a public smoking area sign). A lady came walking down the sidewalk, saw me, and rushed across the street with her long coat wrapped around the two small children she had with her. Her scowl made me smile as she glared at me for doing something legal in a plainly marked airport outside smoking area.

There will always be one in a crowd that believes others have no rights in their world.

Hmmm. Let's see if I have this right:

Your behaviour: blowing visible clouds of aerosolized droplets from your mouth around other people.

Her behaviour: holding a takeout brochure in front of her face.

Your behaviour: feeling "anger inside" and coming here to express some self righteous indignation at her behaviour, and even confessing you felt like following her and blowing more clouds into her face.

That about cover it?

To quote James Woods character in True Crime: "I can't fart loud enough to express my opinion."

True. But at work i go out for a quick vape, in the smoking area full with smokers and i vape the .... out of the mods. I can tell you i get questioned alot and i have converted one man into vaping, one into buying a better mod and others i have just educated on the personalization of your vape liquid, mod, experience. As i like to say, if you settle with the cigarette lookalikes or low powered mods, chances are you will go back to smoking in no time. It is good to try ecigs that give more satisfaction and that let you enjoy the liquids more

. When I vape in public I tend to blow it down my shirt to keep from attracting attention. .

I would never do that though. I think if you are enjoying it, just enjoy. If have to feel ashamed for vaping, i should very well travel with a build for public smoking, a build for clouds, a build for temperature control etc etc etc... I would need a backpack to carry them all ;)

It was you who brought that topic, not me :)

Yeah, the woman was like in a wind tunnel with me on one side and the pamphlet was the shielding she wanted to test.

But to be honest, the wind did most of the blowing thing! Should i blame the wind?

I don't get it. You stared a thread because you were upset someone wasn't impressed by your clouds?

maybe if you asked her nicely to come over and smell your vape ... she may have dropped the takeout brochure and been more accepting :tumble:

however, it is more likely, she's not interested in breathing in whatever you are blowing out ... hence the takeout brochure

nothing to be angry about though ... vape on :vapor:

Because i wanted to talk about people's behaviour, if you find something interesting to talk about please pm me the link i would be happy to camp your thread as well

Edit: and typically my anger lasts 5 minutes, not like the ones some other people may have that lasts days, years, generations.

Your vaping outdoors is going to ruin it for everybody.

No wait, your vaping outdoors is going to lead to someone being harmed because we are not 100% sure that it is 100% harmless.

No wait, wait, wait, your vaping outdoors is a sign you have a huge problem. Couldn't you just wait until you got home? Are you that addicted to vaping?

Okay, how about this, what if a kid would've been anywhere within a mile of your vaping. With the wind, it could've theoretically blown into the kids face and either hooked the kid on nicotine for life, or possibly killed the child. Won't anyone think of the children?

This post has been brought to you by the Jeopardy category of, "things an anti-vaping vaper might say to you on a forum."

Lots of us have been on ECF for along time. It's like a family to most who continue to post here. We don't expect people to welcome our vapor. After all, it looks like smoking to them and until they can tell the difference they will view us as addicted (and, there's some truth in that). Don't be surprised if people don't appreciate your vaping. It's just their mistaken view of life. We consider vaping to be relatively safe compared to smoking. To non-smokers we are still addicted to nicotine. Learn to love it.

If you don't minimize the vapor people who see you will turn their head in disgust. It's just the way that anti-smokers are.

That's exactly why i love to go to the smokers area to vape and never get close to the caffeteria open tables.... Because i can only convert smokers and noone will complain.

That's why I try to avoid vaping in public places, many still looks as us as though we're doing something weird or illegal. A lot of folks has never heard of vaping, let alone knowing what one is doing blowing those clouds & like in an entrance or public place, it's really disrespectful. That's why many businesses has places where one can dump their analogs, beyond that point is where the rules are broken. Evidently, the clouds blew beyond that point.

If one wants to be respected, then respect the rights of others. I mean, what's wrong with a small ego type of device in public & taking a few vapes while on the way to the entrance? Having a cloud contest at a bus stop, store entrance, wherever, those clouds are going to travel one way or the other. True, we can't control which way the wind blows, yet we can be a bit more discrete & save the clouds for at home or more than a 'few steps away'.

Just my take on it.
