Soo i am recently starting to be more bold as to where i vape my ecig. i don't want to blow any vaper on to someones face lol thats rude. since my ecig produces a lot of vaper:) i get noticed and people ask questions. i would like to hear other peoples experience with confrontations or curiosities of the public. sometimes iv got to explain to them what it is exactly and im not sure if they approve or what. is there a short direct explanation for vaping that anyone has had good success with?

I just don't do it.. I still proceed like a smoker and vape in smoking areas.. Every now and agian in walmart I might take a puff but that's about it..

I did have a cop pull me over at a redlight thinking it was ......... paraphernalia..lol.. He quickly apologized and asked where to get one..He was a smoker and they are not allowed to smoke in the cars..

I don't vape in stores... at least I haven't yet. I might vape in a public bathroom if I'm in a store long enough though. I don't want to deal with vigilant non-smokers and their attitudes. Personally, I think it's best not to provoke them because no matter what you say or do, they'll act like narcs and treat you the same as they do smokers. I will vape in the car and in the parking lots as I'm walking into or out of a store but that's what most smokers do as well, but I know that once I'm in the store, I'll smell better than the smokers do!

I think we need pamphlets to print out for while we are vaping in public. You can just hand them out to peeps so you dont have to explain the same thing 200 times.

These Tri-fold pamphlets for the CASAA website have been very useful to me. They come in handy when you're asking to vape in an establishment and also as a handout to curious onlookers as well as Drs. I always carry a few with me.

Gotta say I'm still pretty hesitant about vaping in public though I'm getting a bit more confident with it. When I first started, I felt like a total idiot sat there in my car chugging away with a big old blue light shining away, I felt doubly worse when I stopped smoking and was trying to vape in the office.. admittedly though most of my co-workers have just been curious and asked me about it rather than being offended or anything, I just explain it to them and they're just happy I'm no longer smoking :D

As for explaining it.. the simplest route has to be just "it's an inhaler" - gets to the point, they don't need to know the intricacies of it plus once they realise they can't smell the typical 'smoke' they'll hopefully soon realise it's harmless to them!

My sister uses her setup when she's on university campus; as it's in the middle of the downtown area in a big metro area, it's packed full of both students, tourists, and residents at all hours, so she comes home and we have lols about how often she gets asked about hers. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets asked twenty or more times a day! I've seen a lot of people make a very good point about colored batts: they don't look like cigarettes, especially with the non-red LEDs, so I can see how people would be a little more hesitant to jump all over a vaper right off the bat. I'm too shy to start vaping in the middle of any store or restaurant myself, so I like to read about people's experiences and live vicariously through you all. :p

i think the further we get away from e cigs looking like real cigarettes the better. Last night i went to an indie show in downtown SJ and tons of people were out at the bars/clubs. no one really pays attention till u whip it out indoors. because it was an intimate setting for the show i figured why not take a puff, i would definitely enjoy this experience much better if i was relaxing and vaping lol. so i start first it's one person asking me about it then another... the snowball affect if you will. through this experience i had a lady i was flirting with try it. she became a vehicle for spreading the message for me. one friend said "it still doesn't look like a cigarette" in response i said "it's not supposed to be, instead an alternative like hooka or pip tabacco". i think the main issue with turning people on to the device is the technique in drag. I had a regular cig last night for ....s and giggles. camel filters soft pack with a hot red head and tat lol i didn't get a satisfying hit. it tasted horrible and i realized im used to hitting my e cig on the other side of the coin my friend tried my e cig and didn't hit it right, minimal vapor and started coughing... this has happened more than once for people trying. i always advise that it doesn't take much to inhale on. i feel like i suck harder on a analog for a good hit.

I'm shadzi's sister. I go to Portland State University, and I still stick to the smoking areas when I vape. I'm way too chicken and uncomfortable with vaping in buildings and in class. I just started so I'm still a bit self consious about it. Luckily I go to school on an "urban campus" right in the middle of downtown and so they don't have any strict rules on where you can and can't smoke... it's just really common sense and courtesy.. the analog smokers just need to stay atleast 20 feet from building entrances. Thats really the most of the limitations of that campus.

I do get asked atleast 4 times a day.. I started with Green Smoke a month ago and now I'm returning it and switing to my sisters VK-1000. I ordered mine last night. Green Smoke looks like a regular cigarette just a big bigger and with the LED. People thought I was chewing on a pen until they say vapor coming out of my mouth and then they thought it was a candy cigarette. I found it humorous. With my getting the VK it's going to be a whole different story now since it looks nothing like a cigarette.. It's going to make me more self conscious in the beginning until I get used to it. I'm not a fan of being the center of attention, however if it switches more analogers to digitals I'll be happy. I do hate going through the speech when people ask. I need to print out some pamphlets to solve that problem. :D

Doesn't vaping in public also draw a lot of bad attention though? I know some people will easily overdramatize and even fake cough because they can't tell the difference between an analog or ecig, rofl.

i agree with not drawing any extra attention to yourself thats not needed. In america analog smoking is difficult in general to do in crowded public places... i don't know how it is in sweden, always wanted to go there i hear the culture is unique and would like to know more about it. my experience in public places is that people don't notice till they see the cloud... since it doesn't smell no one really notices. when they do notice the cloud then they ask questions. as long as i don't blow it in someones face. i have gotten away with doing it at restraunts and coffee shops. most of the time no one is looking. how is it in sweden? have you had any negative feedbacks?

Virginia has stated that you can vape because it does not meet the requirements of the smoking ban since its not smoking. This is awesome because I feel like the government is actually making sense (for once but I don't want to get too far off topic). But it is still up to the establishment if they are going to allow it. My wife and I vape in bars and we always ask the management if it is ok with them out of respect for their place. If they are not ok I will either go outside or find a more understanding business.

Are you allowed to vape in class(es)?

I'm afraid to try to vap in class (portland state university) to be quite honest with you. I would have to ask the dean.. I wouldn't just randomly try to vap in class since I don't want to offend people with it. It would be a good question to pose to the board though.
