Some of you have mentioned that you now vape inside your home. I haven't begun vaping yet seeing as I'm waiting for my first order but I too plan to begin vaping inside my house. My question is, how do you guys feel about vaping with animals/pets present? Obviously blowing the vape at them is probably a bad idea but considering the amount of nicotine that can be distributed through an ecig is greater than that of a cigarette, are you still wary about them while they're around?

My cats don't seem to mind the vapor. They both hated smoke, but the vapor does not bother them at all. I do not blow the vapor in their faces. I would not blow vapor into a person's face either. I just vape away while my cat is sleeping on my lap and am careful to not envelope him in a cloud of vapor.

Now, when I am leaving an establishment, I will have my pv out and will be hitting on it in a place where smoking would not be allowed, but I will release the vapor outside.

Better not do that at Lowe's. Their ban on PV's includes your car until you are completely off of their property.

Really? I did not know this about Lowes. Did you have a run-in there? and/or is this a company wide policy?
thanks for the heads up!
This is a post on a thread by wolfiebeast:
Lowe"s bans the use of e-cigs on it's property

Lowe's Home Improvement has updated it's no smoking policy to now include E-cigs.

Policy Number 415:

Lowe's desires to support the public health and safety of it's employees and customers. In order to promote and provide a healthy and safe work environment, Lowe's bans the use of tobacco products and simulated smoking products( e.g. e-cigarettes) at customer support center locations, regional offices or store building or at outside break areas, docks, parking lots and any other area on Lowe's property.

All employees, visitors, customers and other personnel are responsible for adhering to this policy.

customercare@lowes.com

It took some doing but I called them to verify before I mailed them a letter. BTW,Email is a waste of time with them.
I posted my letter on the wolfiebeast thread "Lowe"s bans the use of e-cigs on it's property"

I want to see them enforce me not vaping in my car. I would cause some some trouble on that one particularly if my windows were up. I shop at home Depot anyway :p

I'm also curious how they handle it when they're part of a strip mall (which isn't all that often but does happen) how do we know where Lowe's property ends?

I spent 6 hours at Lowe's over last weekend with my wife. We're remodeling our kitchen. If you think I was there that much and wasn't vaping my face off the entire time in the store you're crazy. Nobody said anything. Plenty of employees saw me doing it. My mom kept telling me to knock it off but she's a different story entirely...

I'm sure I would have done the same. But Lowe's has every right to set their own policy and if I don't like it I can go elsewhere.
So I will set my own policy Ban Lowe's and Welcome to Home Depot.

When I'm not home, I'll vape wherever it's permissible to smoke.

While it may not technically be "illegal" to smoke in a store or restaurant, if you are asked to stop and refuse, they can ask you to leave. If you refuse again, you just may get a free ride to the police department for trespassing. I'm all for advocacy and helping people understand the differences between vaping and smoking, but I try to do it in a non-confrontational way.

As a generalization, I don't vape where smoking isn't allowed. There is an exception.... parking lots. When I go to a place that doesn't allow smoking on it's property, and I'm not an employee but a customer or driver of a customer, or some such... I vape outside, or in my car. Usually standing right next to the "Smoking prohibited on this property.." sign.

Then again, I'd smoke outside there too if I was still smoking. I think that the whole "can't smoke here... even outdoors" is total BS. And to provide a parking lot, but tell me I can't smoke/vape in my own car is complete crap. I'm not sure the police would even enforce it if they called em... trespassing probably.

Also, I respect the "not smoking within XX feet of the entrance thing" and don't even vape there. It's funny....I find that a bit nasty now that I don't smoke (but I sure respect their rights to be outside and smoke and wouldn't say anything.... I feel sorry for em in Wintertime too).

That is a reason I do not shop Lowes. I also will not buy products made by Scotts (the fertilizer company) because of their policy of not allowing employees the ability to use tobacco products at ANY TIME. Granted, we have all worked hard to free ourselves from our tobacco demons, but some policies still go against my sensibilities.

Yeah, but that's mainly for their employees (Lowe's). I'll bet you couldn't find an incident where they told a customer (that was outside) "no smoking" let alone "no vaping" or asked them to leave because of it. Not counting exceptions for hazardous areas (like standing next to the propane refill station) or inside or some such. In general, I bet it's mostly employee stuff.

I want them to tell some of the contractors I've seen there, doing business with them, that they can't walk to the door puffing a cig or e-cig and stomp the cig out as they enter. It isn't going to happen. I do feel sorry for the employees tho.

It just kind of depends. I vape indoors if I want and wait for someone to ask me not to do so. They seldom do. More often, they report to a manager that someone's smoking in their establishment and I've found that most managers just correct them. Cashiers in the stores, too. I worked in the State Capitol, where one of the senators challenged me that I couldn't use it in there and one of the attorneys corrected the senator, pointing out that it was "smoking" that was illegal in public buildings, not what I was doing. Used it in our local courthouse without so much as a glance, though I don't use it in the Sheriff's office. I guess I just don't want to look like I'm smoking, as he's a friend. Come to think of it, I wouldn't vape in someone's home without permission, either. But I sure have enjoyed it in my own, rather than going outside so my house doesn't smell like cigarette smoke!

I agree that there might not have been any incidents of them asking customers or contractors to leave but the policy clearly includes customers as well as employees. The fact that they would include vaping with a smoking ban is enough for me to ban Lowe’s.

Agree, now that I know they won't let me vape in my car, Lowes can get their money from someone else. I can also live without Scott's products.

I vape wherever I feel like it at home, mostly indoors now. I vape in my car. If I vape in public, I still tend to do that outside, because even though it is nice to educate people on what vaping is, like when I smoked, I can respect someone not wanting to be confined in the same space with me while I do it. Outdoors, I feel I can just walk away from them, if they follow my vapor trail, it is no longer really my fault. If a company feels that banning vaping is ok to the point, of telling me I cannot do that in a reasonable distance from their business or even in my car, I feel perfectly justified in spending my money or the money of someone I represent elsewhere. I also feel perfectly justified in voting or asking for others to vote against such companies when they want favors from my community.
