Ok, I'm a new member, lurker would be more exact and that's why this has to go here. I just read through a few posts in the "vaping in public" forum, and to be honest I'm disgusted for a lack of a better term.

First, I'm a long time vaper myself. Moved from analogs and cig-a-likes combined to just e-cigs, pro-tanks, many different models and my go to right now is a AGA-T2 RBA on a Zmax mini. So... I understand.

However, It seems as if many people who posted in the public vaping threads are treating it as "I'm not smoking, therefor I have the right to do it where ever I choose to, and if you don't like it you are ignorant and wrong". Please... give me a break. There are many people with allergies to PG and even more people with sensitivities to smells like in perfumes and, guess what, vapor. Did you guys switch to vaping because you want to get your fix anywhere you want or because it will save your life? I can't even comprehend how someone can vape in the office or on the bus or at the movies right next to non-vapers and than complain about people complaining. You are the one who is exposing other people to something they don't want to be exposed to. Whatever there reason is, it does not mater please respect that. There is a lot of talk about freedom and the right to do what you want, but you are the one who is forcefully restricting other peoples right to clean, nicotine and PG free air.

Anyway, enough ranting. (Mentally preparing myself for the angry replies I will get)

I agree with you. I vape in so many more places than I could/would smoke before ( car & home in particular). I don't want to draw ANY attention to myself, negative attention in particular. Do I stealth vape? YES, but I am very aware of my surroundings. I prefer to be considerate and not alienate those around me. But, THAT'S JUST ME....

I'm sure you'll get a lot of disagreement on this.

I agree with you. I only started vaping 2 weeks ago but would not vape in a non-smoking public area.

I vape at home inside now...used to smoke outside but thats it.

I would only vape inside at a pub who allows vaping and never consider doing it on public transport or any other non-smoking public area.

You make a good point.

no angry reply here, If i must vape around others in public, i usually ask if it bothers them. No one ever complained if i asked first. Every now and then someone will say something like, they think it stinks, oh no worries, i turn it off and put it in my pocket or move over to the designated smoking area. Vaporizers, at least some, can put off a strong odor. Not everyone likes the smell. Any time I go visit family they complain about the smell of my vaporizer. So yes im with ya, I think its rude to walk around stinking up any area with cigarette smoke or vape vapors.

I agree honestly! I never smoked in my house or car, I don't like the smell and my boyfriend doesn't smoke...so why would I vape inside? If it's prohibited it is. I work at a pool store and Def can't smoke inside and they banned vaping also so I go with it

i hate it when the voices in my head go silent....i never know what those .......**s are planning

Have to say I agree. I firmly believe it's the vapers that argue the "it's not smoke" thing causing all the bans. If people would simply follow smoking bans already in place, then we wouldn't have near as much media attention touting new bans, regulations, blah blah. Just a little pinch of decency and respect go a long long way. Even less common sense goes even further.

Just my thoughts.

I guess I walk the other side of the road. I vape pretty much anywhere, as my PV is always in my hand or in my pocket. Just a couple of toots in the grocery or Walmart and I'm good. I'm discreet (I think), as I only do it in a relatively empty isle, and I'm not making huge clouds of vapor.

I even vape at the cinema. However, I usually go when there's not a full theater, always sit in the last row, and never vape until the lights are out. I'm usually sitting alone, or with my son or daughter. I do double inhale techniques so there's barely any vapor noticable. I'm not bothering anyone, not distracting anyone. What no one else see's is no one else's business.

If someone asks that I not vape in public, I comply with their wishes. I don't vape in bars or restaurants unless I ask an employee if it is ok to do so; if it's not, I'll go outside with the smokers. I've vaped with permission at outdoor concerts (security staff permission) and indoor concerts without permission (stealth vaping with the other "smokers" using the funny cigarettes).

I just use good judgement and not go out of my way to draw attention to myself. Only been asked once to stop "smoking", and when I replied it wasn't smoke but vapor from my vaporizor, they appologized and said I could continue.

Let me add that I'm generally toting a mini Provari with me, which looks nothing like a cigarette. Unless I know I'll be stealth vaping, in which case I'm using a Smoktech Gripper which can be easily hidden inside my fist.

Welcome ckn71nm to ECF. I still look at my surroundings to vape when I'm outside just as I did when smoking a cigarette.

Now when I'm in the car and vaping on one of my APV's I don't care. Wonder what those people on the roads think....hopefully more and more will be educated on vaping.

Always in the back of my mind is "will this be the day a cop pulls me over because of me vaping a big AVP that someone has called into the the Police station"?

Well hey, somebody might just see you sticking the long straight shiny metal thing in your mouth and they might think you're about to blow your head off with a gun while driving!

As always, Bad, you provide a reasoned, respectful and common sense approach to this topic. It's becoming more rare, as is all too apparent.

Toronto, Canada,
Not another one of these. Welcome to the forums ckn71nm. I'm inclined to agree with Baditude, that said I'm rarely in public and when I am it's on a mobility scooter, most people can't keep up with me. If I'm stopped though I do look around and see if anyone may be offended in some way. Happy vaping. :vapor: Some people are offended by people on mobility scooters so not sure what the deal is there. lol

On the streets of NYC I vape away. Like others, I ask the staff if it's ok at bars and restaurants. And I ask the people sitting around me. Even so, I blow the vapor down between my legs discreetly - not up in the air to show everyone my "mad clouds yo". No one cares and I just want my nic. Of course, that all comes to an end on March 31. April 1 the NYC indoor vaping ban goes into effect. Won't be allowed at public parks, beaches, and plazas either. So there will be no more asking. But at that point we'll stealth vape. And if caught, we'll ask if they mind. If they do, we'll stop. Why stealth vape? I don't want to stand in the smoking area and end up smelling like an ashtray and inhaling that crap (it's why I quit f-ing smoking!).

I'm always very careful who is around me and remain sensitive to their wishes to not be exposed if they don't want to be.. I was a bit shocked at Church when they found out I vape and why that they flat out gave me permission to do so inside, I never would have dreamed of that clearance, but since they offered I do when needed.

I smoked for 45 years. While I will respect the rights of others I will not in turn bash someone for smoking. I like the smell of burning tobacco but have grown to dislike the smell of an ashtray.
When out and about, if I choose to vape, I go to the designated smoking area to do so. Sometimes, I get funny looks. Sometimes I get asked questions about my e-cig. If I can turn someone on to e-cigs and off of cigarettes, I will.
Smokers are welcome to my home . . . but are not allowed to smoke in my home. My choice . . . My home.
