I also don't vape where smoking is prohibited in general.... now I vape at work and smoking would not be allowed within our clean air act, but I don't vape when customers are around and so far haven't had any issues/questions on smells etc. I think in general everyone just needs to be respectful of their surroundings.

I work in a horrible environment, vaping is probably the least dangerous thing that i deal with on a daily basis. When the draconian smoking regulations started to come be in the mid 90's i took my lumps and went out into the Cold with the rest of the addicts i took 20 + years of insane sin-taxation with out much complaint, i always respected the rights of others on private property or indoors, i never smoked in customers cars. Im sick of being treated like a pariah, im not flaunting my vaporizor i can take a hit or two and blow it down my sleeve or what not im not bothering anyone, and if i am? I am the kind of person who is not the least bit afraid of saying how im sick and tired of people who want to constantly complain about everything and feel the need to boss other people around. An entire life time of working in the service industry has really turned me into a grumpy curmudgeon, possibly not having a "real" smoke for two days and a dead eGo batter could have something to do with my grumpy post.

I find that when I vape around non smokers they most often ask what is that wonderful aroma? Then they want a better whiff and ask for me to blow some vape their way. Also find it an excellent opportunity to educate the masses. Find that if one vapes on the sneak, like they are doing something bad, creates negativity, but if one is open and straight forward, usually interest and curiosity is shown.

I pretty much vape where I want, when I want, sure in others homes I always ask first, and it has always been ok. Never had any issues come up in public, just interested questions, find many wondering if it would work for them or a smoking friend of theirs.

Yeah, I sometimes vape in public, even indoors, and I've never had any complaints or bad looks when they realise the "smoke" is an odourless vapour that rapidly dissipates. In fact, a lot of people showed interest in my device, asking what it is, etc. I only do it inside in case of a nicotine emergency tbh and never around children. I think smokers have been shunned pretty badly, so knowing I can vape inside if I really need to is a pretty big deal, although I always make sure to do it discretely using a compact e-cig.

I wonder if they'll make regulations about indoor vaping...? It all seems fairly tolerated in the UK, but I've been reading about quite a few places that are treating vaping indoors like smoking tobacco indoors.

^yeah, I'd say people are very curious about these devices; every smoker I've known always asks me how it stacks up to the real thing, when I give them a drag, their reactions have so far been universally positive.

I guess I walk the other side of the road. I vape pretty much anywhere, as my PV is always in my hand or in my pocket. Just a couple of toots in the grocery or Walmart and I'm good. I'm discreet (I think), as I only do it in a relatively empty isle, and I'm not making huge clouds of vapor.

I even vape at the cinema. However, I usually go when there's not a full theater, always sit in the last row, and never vape until the lights are out. I'm usually sitting alone, or with my son or daughter. I do double inhale techniques so there's barely any vapor noticable. I'm not bothering anyone, not distracting anyone. What no one else see's is no one else's business.

If someone asks that I not vape in public, I comply with their wishes. I don't vape in bars or restaurants unless I ask an employee if it is ok to do so; if it's not, I'll go outside with the smokers. I've vaped with permission at outdoor concerts (security staff permission) and indoor concerts without permission (stealth vaping with the other "smokers" using the funny cigarettes).

I just use good judgement and not go out of my way to draw attention to myself. Only been asked once to stop "smoking", and when I replied it wasn't smoke but vapor from my vaporizor, they appologized and said I could continue.

Let me add that I'm generally toting a mini Provari with me, which looks nothing like a cigarette. Unless I know I'll be stealth vaping, in which case I'm using a Smoktech Gripper which can be easily hidden inside my fist.

That is something I can agree with. Especially the part where you say you try to do it away from other people and stop if asked. It's just common sense I guess. I actually witnessed a women vape on the bus and after being asked to stop she made a scene calling everyone a a@$hole and got got of the next stop.

I'm glad that that there is so much agreement about this. I too never used to smoke in my car or my living space. I do vape there however. But that not in public. When i'm out and about I stay away from people, don't do it in buildings or at places were smoking in prohibited. I wish everyone would use the common sense approach more often.

People eat more vegetables/plants that give them more nicotine than second hand vapor would ever do... You are the one that is not educated and need to research. You get WAY more nasty stuff "second hand" from scented candles, body spray, cologne/perfume, air fresheners, hair spray, etc, etc... Oh, and as I type this I am vaping dual micro sub ohm coils blowing RIDICULOUS clouds while at work in my office. Thank god I live in Kentucky where I can still have at least half of my freedom...

When i'm in public indoor places where smoking isn't allowed, i don't vape much. If i feel the need, i will stealth vape (which is a great option to have...we couldn't stealth smoke when we were smokers). I'm not really trying to push boundaries or force an issue. But outdoors in public, i vape proudly with no attempt at discretion. If anything, i WANT to be noticed by smokers who might be interested and have questions.

I would probably die if I couldn't vape at work. Fortunately I have my own office which I cloud up at every opportunity.

I tend to avoid vaping in restaurants, but I also avoided smoking around food before the ecig. It's just a habit, and one I'm not looking to change.

Everything else depends on the situation. Crowded mall, probably not. Local pool hall, most definitely. Other people within a few feet of me, I'll wait. Other people standing 10+ feet away, I'm puffing. I try not to cause problems, but I'm not bending over backwards to keep from offending someone who just doesn't like the idea that anyone would ever simulate smoking.

On density of second hand vapour:

So medically, it isn't an issue (ignoring flavourings, which obviously could be more or less anything, so might be - but they'll be an issue for the vaper long before the... er... vapee).

For what it's worth, I fall into the 'ask first' inside camp. There are plenty of pubs and bars etc. where I can vape, so no worries about being consigned to my flat. Outside, who cares - but I'd happily ignore no smoking rules outside too (in most circumstances at least), because they're insane. :)

Funny you should post this, my employer just sent out a mass-email stating that while they recognize the benefits of e-cigs over analogs, they want us to keep them at our desks only. No walking around using them, etc. Which I'm 100% fine with, at least they won't make us go outside like "real" smokers!

As for other places, I NEVER vape where there is food. And I don't normally vape inside stores either. It can wait.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. I 100% agree that second hand vaping if far less dangerous than SH smoke. It's probably far less dangerous then walking down the street and inhaling all the car exhaust fumes. But that's not the point. Maybe I wasn't clear in my initial post. It's about respect. I teach dance and we ask people not to wear heavily scented perfumes because people have issues with sensitivity, not because perfume will kill you. If someone at work would set up a scented candle I would ask that person to stop. As the person creating the vapor you are actively exposing people to something they might not like. No matter the reason for there dislike, out of respect for there opinion you should stop when asked since you are the producer of the "disturbance"

I just happen to chose not to create that situation in the first place.

I was actually having a conversation about this with a couple friends the other day. Neither of them vape and they both said the same thing to me "why should you get to do something that I'm not allowed to do?". I understand that vaping certain places like restaurants is not cool. It'd piss me off if I was eating and I was constantly sniffing a flavor I didn't like while trying to enjoy my meal and even at the local pub I observe my surroundings before I start hitting my Taifun. Depending on the crowd and what's going on I'll decide whether it's rude or not. But as for the smokers I was talking about I feel that they're just jealous. And the thought of you poor .......s in NYC not being able to puff outdoors anywhere you want is absolute draconian nonsense. Know your surroundings and act accordingly. If people around you don't care then fine. Puff to your hearts content. But if a bunch of people start whining and complaining we're going to end up getting banned and the smokers that don't get to smoke in the local tavern anymore are going to be the ones leading the way.

I agree, people should have respect for one another. I'll vape outside. I'll vape while shopping. I'll vape while working. I'll vape at festivals and special events. I'll vape where I want. Only place that comes to mind that I would restrain from vaping would be a crowded elevator or something similar. Same goes for spraying cologne. If I wouldn't spray cologne somewhere I wouldn't vape there either. But if I'm at the mall or store and some old fart comes up to me and tells me to stop puffing on my stick... I'll politely object. A large percentage of people that would ask you to stop do so for their own self righteous agenda just like the door-to-door Jehovah witnesses... Forget them, I say, as they have no right to tell me what to do. Now, if a store manager asks me to quit I would also politely object but I would leave and they would not get my business.

I for one WILL NOT RUN AND HIDE and hang with the smokers because vaping looks like smoking. That only adds to the perceived idea that smoking and vaping are BOTH bad for second handers. This is how STUPID laws like no vaping in parks in NY got started. People with NO BACKBONE willing to stand up for your right! Last summer I was smoking a cigarette standing on a beach in Los Angelos when my wife and I turned around and she saw a sign prohibiting smoking on the beach. I laughed, said F-em, crushed my .... in the sand and went back to Texas. The underlying problem is this countries attitude turning more socialist everyday. It's not a vaping issue, it's an "I need the laws and government to decide whats best for me because I am not capable to think and decide for myself" issue. My point is readily expressed by reading some of the above posts.

This isn't about vaping in privately owned homes or businesses. This is about walking down the street or walking your dog in a park and having a vape. Remember who PAID for that park, that beach, and your junk healthcare program. I DID! No apologies from this guy. ~rant off~

VAPING ISNT SMOKING! Don't treat it the same or we will suffer the consequences of the government!

I'm sorry, but if you make you make the claim that it's medically not an issue you should cite medical publications or any other sort of independently funded, peer reviewed scientific research not a thread in forum.

Don't get me wrong I believe that what is said in that post is true, but I don't think is has been proven in any way that the named amounts of nicotine (or PG) are without any risk. The comparison with vegetables (or PG as food additive) is pointless, since digestion through the stomach/gut and metabolism through the liver is a very different pathway then inhalation and direct entry into the bloodstream through the lung and mucus membranes in throat and nose.

There are plenty of those studies in the CASAA website, I suggest you spend some time looking at some of them. Vape on!

If you read the thread it actually references studies of PG inhaled at much higher concentrations over substantial periods of time, though I'm not sure there's as much data on VG.

National Vapers Club - Meeting Place for lovers of e-cigarettes, personal vaporizers and all things "fog" producing!

The quantities of nicotine are genuinely negligible - vapers have done nicotine tests on their non-smoking / non-vaping spouses, and they've shown up negative. People have been inhaling nicotine in vastly higher concentrations in NRT inhalers without ill effect.

I'd be much more concerned about walking past a running car than I would sitting in a room with someone vaping for a few hours...
