Cigar Smoking, Pipe Smoking, Shisha Smoking, Cigarette Smoking. (might want to include lonely old alcohol in this picture)

Although vaporizing might have been put on the map as a "cigarette substitute," I long for a paradigm shift. Calling ourselves "ex-smokers" or "non-smokers" seems to me a denial of the fact that many of us vapers enjoy vaping a lot more than (what we call here) analog smoking. This is why I consider myself to have *accidentally* quit smoking. A lot of us here have found that not only is vaping much healthier, it provides more of our much loved smoke, tastes better, has more variety, and appeals to our inner hobbyist/collector in ways that are distinct from what I listed above.

I say we stop being defensive of this vice of ours and start acknowledging that vaping is a valid form of pleasure as distinct from the others. Vaping is NOT subordinate to tobacco.

I look at vaping as a nicotine delivery process. Nothing more, nothing less.
Definitely not a smoking cecesstion activity. Just a replacement.
Nothing special or grandiose. I was estatic the first couple of weeks with the transition and its pleasant effects.
The secondary effects of vaping are a major plus for me and others in my life. But the stigma is still there IMHO.
My hopes and plans include a gradual nic level drop and eventually stepping away from nic altogether. But for now I am enjoying the ride.

However you want to view vaping ~ cool beans.

I'm with you on this one... for the life of me I don't know what its still called e-cigarettes... the stigma alone associated with analogs causes issues.

As twisted1 said, vaping is a nicotine delivery process... but in truth if you really wanna look at it you can vape zero-nicotine juices or even juices with caffein in them. That pretty much means vaping is just a form of aerosol delivery for whatever you may really be into.

You are wrong about it not being a subordinate to tobacco/analogs though (at least for now). For that to have a validity we have to reach a point where more people pick up vaping as opposed to picking up analogs. It really happens to be that probably 99.9% (made up number) of vapers today are either smokers or ex-smokers.

Yep, I'm also sure I'm wrong about vaping not being a subordinate to tobacco *at least for now*. I'm just convinced that the sooner we start being conscious of how we talk about vaping, the sooner everyone else will realize that vapor (an efficient chemical delivery system) is a medium distinct from smoke (from tobacco to incense to even food preparation).

Sure, vaping is a great way to start being healthier and quit smoking. As everyone here knows, this is not its only merit. I am always surprised when people around me assume that my eGo is a cigarette substitute. It is so much more! More vapor, more flavors, and more tinkering.

Finally there is a MASSIVE potential for other uses That caffeine idea is great! How about a "sleep juice" to help us knock out? Can we vape antioxidants? Let's find out! If some of us don't start talking out of the box, the dreamers (and entrepreneurs) out there can't make the next step.

I have certainly found it useful in other ways than just nicotine delivery and enjoyment. I had a particularly bad lung infection (talking about the green stuff). I mixed a batch of VG with some clove extract (not oil) and inhaled a few times. My lungs cleared up in less than 18 hours. I don't recommend you do this without first doing your homework on the risks associated with clove and the lungs. Just informing of my personal experience on the subject.

naa i disagree i couldnt stop smoking no matter how i tried, even when my chest hurt. i grew up in a house full of chain smokers and for 35 years was a 2 PAD smoker myself. i tried everything to quit and couldnt stop, didnt enjoy it and knew i was going to die. and still woke up and lit a cig, finding vaping saved my life it gives me my hand to mouth fix and my health back, see it how you like but to me vaping is what i got from smoking. the gadgets are just an added bonus for people like me.

I vape a pipe, and when I talk about vaping to smokers, I make a difference between an e-cig and a PV.To me, it stops being a cigarette when it stops looking like one. Both cigarettes and cigars are tobacco products, but if you lit a cigar and called it a cigarette, people would think you are crazy. My e-pipe looks like a pipe with a few modifications, so, it's still a pipe. I have not seen any vv or vw devices that look very much like an analog, so they are PVs. Personal Vaporizers. :)

Yeah. Things are what they are and it is what is. Vaping so out ranks commercial cigarettes and smoking. Those things are a poor excuse for pleasant past time, hobby. I'm sure there are some extra high quality organic non additives air dried tobaccos that are a whole different class of smoke. Smoke is the key word though. Burning anything to get in the lungs and into the body just doesn't speak pleasant to me and when standing by a campfire I avoid the smoke there too.

Well, hells bells. Molesting children can be defined as a "valid form of pleasure" for certain warped individuals. Do I think that vaping is as "pleasurable" as smoking cigarettes? No.

There isn't anything that can replace that cheap rush from hitting a cigarette after several months without smoking. Want to do it? Go ahead.

Grow up. Vaping is a reduced risk alternative to smoking. Nothing more. If you aren't satisfied that vaping delivers everything that used to get you off with smoking, book some time with Oprah.

All of that has already been done. The Chinese have juices with all of the above in them.

NOTHING more? You speak to quickly my fellow vaper. There are the various kinds of mods, delivery devices, pretty girl batteries, drip tips and powerhouse man mods and darling little tank atty things and then on to the juices. I just don't see how you can say "and nothing more"
The only thing it has in common with smoking is the nicotine ( and you forgot it goes in mouth you inhale if you want and you must suck) Now if you say that's the only thingS then I understand what you are saying completely. You must have meant that
