Vaping on a Budget.....

I agree ego with a clearo with some good juice. I have been dripping for the last month and wish I would have gotten a kanger t3 sooner. Love it!. But as with anything regarding cigarettes, if he's not ready to make the step its not going to work. The only reason I switched was I am such a techy person that loves gadgets I had to have one when I saw my friend with one. I never planned on quitting fully, it just kind of happened. I haven't had an analog since I bought my ego. Now I am dying to buy a provari!

I searched on-line but couldn't find anything even remotely near us. I live in Va about 2.5 hrs from DC. I thought there would be some in DC, but didn't see any. Maryland was the closest I found and that's a bit too far to go right now. I really wish we had some in Richmond or Charlottesville or NoVa.

Just outside of Richmond...

I would get an ego battery or two and some clearos (especially t3s theyre amazing). If you want to make it a thing get some nic-free delicious juice for yourself and get him a nice cool menthol flavor. I used to smoke Newports like there was no tomorrow and one of things I liked was that kick in the throat and chest they gave you. A refreshing kick if there is such a thing. Youll probably never convert him full time but I think if he tries it he'll find you can get a better taste and kick from ecigs then you can with cigarettes. Good luck and whatever you do, dont badger him about it. Thats why I say make it a thing and maybe get some nic free juice for yourself.

Also, get him off the bud light next. That stuff gives you bubble-guts haha :toast:

I'd suggest a menthol juice with a definite tobacco taste in it. Several ppl around here (including my wife) have tried straight menthol flavors & found them lacking vs menthol analogs. From my little experience it only takes a very small amount of menthol added to a regular tobacco flavor to most closely resemble a menthol cig. Of course YMMV. Good luck Tracie!

HA! baby steps, my friend, baby steps!!

As a former newport smoker, is there a particular juice or brand you would recommend? I'm not looking to get him to quit, just to not smoke at home anymore. If he loves it and quits, that would be phenomenal.... if he just does it at home, I will still be thrilled!

We do have a B&M store here in Richmond. It's in south side, on Midlothian Turnpike. It's called Vapors Lounge. Also, a friend just gave me 3 bottles of Ice Menthol from Vape Dudes and I don't vape menthol. You are welcome to them if you like. I also have a full bottle of Blackberry menthol from the same company. Just PM me if you want the juice.

Best to buy samples to find his likes and dislikes. When I first began vaping I bought 30 wide ranging samples. Out of those 30 I liked 10. Immediately ordered another 20 and out of those I liked 10…so out 50 different flavors I enjoyed 20. Months later I tried those 30 samples that I disliked and enjoyed all but one. Whether it was because my tastes had changed or they needed steeping I don’t know. Realize also "same name" juices will vary greatly in taste from vendor to vendor as they all have diff recipes and order ingredients from diff Suppliers.
Also remember to purchase an atomizer:
Atomizer/ Atty- an element in a metal container on to which 2-3 drops of juice is dripped- usually used for testing new juices because Attys are easy to clean. Drip 2-3 drops and vape/ test. To completely remove any juice afterwards just activate the element for 3 secs or so.
If you fill a cartomizer or tank/ clearomizer and he hates the juice it's fairly tough and or impossible to get it clean.

I would suggest before you actually order to post it here so nothing is forgotten or missed.

You're every welcome and I think what you're doing is GREAT  Have been quietly following this thread hoping for the best.
I tried to find reviews on his store and couldn't BUT I remember reading very good things about Vapors Lounge but I couldn't find it again. Understand because they are a B&M prolly slightly more expensive. If you bring your own PV they will let your hubby sample juices.

AWESOME!!!!! Thank you!

Thanks for the tip on sampling juices... maybe I'll get him set up with a PV and plan a trip to go try out some juices.

Another tip: To sample new flavors, I use a Nano clearomizer. They have just a 1 ml capacity, but that's all you need to test out a flavor. Easy twist off top to fill; re-usable, just remove what's left of the flavor and refill with the next one. About $3-4 each.

I'm not certain the length of the wick makes much difference. The "working end" is up by the heating coil, which is in the head. The newer clearomizers like the Kanger T3 and the mini Vivi Nova clearomizer tanks are called "rebuildable", because the inside working part is removable once they stop working, and a new "head unit with wicks" can be put into the tank or reservoir part.

You can probably do a search on You Tube for "replacing the head of a clearomizer", or "vivi nova tank", for a demonstration on how to do it. I'm pretty sure that PBusardo, a popular You Tube reviewer has a video demonstrating this.

Its looking like I'm being led in two similar directions:

1- ego with a clearomizer or boge cartos for sampling and a mini vivi nova or kanger t3 tank for regular use, plus a charger.

2- kgo kit with a mini vivi nova or kanger t3 tank.

SOUND OFF....
what would be best for a newbie? If I go with an ego, which battery.... there seem to be a million including all of mAh available, leaving me with roughly a bajillion options.

You aren't being led in different directions. You're just confused by the lingo.

Ego and Kgo are just battery names, and both will need a charger. Both batteries can use the same juice delivery devices whether it is a cartomizer, a clearomizer (which a kanger t3 is), or a mini nova tank (which is really just a huge clearomizer).

There's not a huge difference between the ego and kgo batteries, either will suit bd's needs.

It sounds like you might need a refresher of the juice delivery devices: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3230-1-proper-terminology-carto-tank-what-juice-delivery-attachments.html

That link has descriptions of all the device, a picture of them, and a video on how to fill each one.

Oh, no, I didn't mean that in a bad way.......... I guess I meant after reading everyone's suggestions, I've come up with 2 options. Just hoping you pros will jump in and tell me which is best! Tweak it if it needs it.
