The point that stood out to me in the original post of this thread is that this PV is for a person who DROPS THINGS ALL THE TIME.

Now, with that in mind, I can say from extensive experience that anything eGo isn't going to work. They don't survive multiple drops. I've killed half a dozen of them this way.

I am a complete klutz. I drop my PV on concrete at least once a week, sometimes from the side of my forklift. I have a Provari V2. I don't suggest that you start there. It is a bit pricy(that is, until you look at how much $$ I spent on devices that I destroyed).

My PV requirements are:

Bulletproof
Idiotproof
Reliable

Here is a starter set that fits this set of requirements:

COMPLETE E-POWER NOVA KIT and 30ml juice (Free priority shipping)

You have everything you need to get started in one box. This device is great, but the vivi nova heads are not very durable, or idiotproof....so get these:

3 BOXES, SMOKTECH C.C.V. DUAL COIL XL (1.5 or 1.25ohms)

Order them in 1.5ohms, get the two plastic drip tips.

I use these heads on my provari. They hit great. They are cheap/disposable.

I can't vouch for CCV's juice. I make my own.

That is a great price for that empower starter kit, I paid a few dollars more for mine and didn't get any juice with the kit. Compared to my egos I love the empower. Not much larger, modular and plenty of battery life. It is also semi regulated so you get a more consistent Vale throughout the charge of the battery. I got mine in chrome, it looks very nice but is a fingerprint magnet.

The money you will save on buying replacement batteries over egos etc is worth the slight extra initial cost. Highly recommend this product for someone not looking for a larger mod. I get a full day of caping out of one battery and it compliments not only the vivi tank but my vision ce4s very well.

I was recommending that Kit until I discovered the Vivi Novas are Smok brand. Much better to buy the genuine Vision Viv Novas as the Smok Vivis are problematic.

Tracie,
I'm surprised no one recommended this kit yet
eGo 650mAh w/ CE4 Clearomizer Blister Pack Starter Kit - MyFreedomSmokes.com
For only $14.95 you can't beat it for vaping on a budget. I would get 2 so you could have a back up and some good juice. These vape extrememly well and this would buy you time for deciding everything you want. All the tanks, cartos, etc. that people have been reccomending would work on this kit so you could expand it in the future.

my husband dropped MY PV because he took it to work to show off even though I specifically told him not to.
the ego twist survived but the vivi nova has a slanted middle post now.

DOH! That would totally be Craig.... He's actually talking about switching completely to vaping and he's a maintenance tech, so I guess now I need to look into an indestructible case. I wonder if a hard eye-glasses case with some foam inside would be good......

Thanks, that might be a good place to start and less daunting for bd..... might even be able to get my 18yr old son to switch over too.

Another important factor to consider is nic level of juice. It must be high enough to satisfy nicotine craving especially in the mornings. I almost quit vaping because I started with 6mg strength and became irritable. I smoked light cigarettes and now I'm happy @ 12-18 mg nic level.

I figured since he is a pad smoker that we would start him out around 18mg. I'm hoping that will be enough to satisfy his cravings.

I was a ppd smoker, too. I found 24 mg to work best for me at the beginning. I've since cut it down to 12 mg. Maybe when you buy your juices get bottles of both the 18 mg and 24 mg to figure which he will need.

Thanks Bad, starting out a little higher might be the better choice and then knocking it back to 18 after a little while. Thanks guys, good lookin out!

A very kind-hearted person sent us a start up kit! It arrived today and I can't wait until Craig gets home so we can open it!! Soooooo excited!!

WOWSER that is SO COOL. Kudos to that person.

Edit: Lots of times with threads like Tracie's I sometimes forget to revisit the original title..."Vaping on a Budget....."ask and you shall receive" comes to mind courtesy of some VERY kindhearted soul out there.
