Ran into some people with really nice mods the other day. So I decided to say hi. We were having a wonderful conversation about our wraps and mods and flavors when all of the sudden the woman exclaimed "you smells like smoke. That's disgusting!" I replied by apologizing for the smell and confessed I still occasionally have a cigarette. She and her husband turned their noses up at me and refused to carry on the conversation. Awkward to say the least but I feel it was pretty mean of them to be so snobby about it when it was obvious they use to smoke too.

Anyone else run into people like this?

i always preempt the chance someone will out-snob me. i hold my PV with my pinky extended and make sure to extend all my vowels to make myself sound real smart. like "oh i went to Haaaaaarrrrrvaaaaaarrrrrrd".

even when i walk away and have to adjust my torn up tighty-whiteys, i make sure to do it in the most uppity manner possible. no one one-ups meh!!

I've ran into the "cool crowd" a few times. I was getting juice one time and someone came in looking for an Ego type starter kit. He started asking one of them about his set up and got blew off. Until about 10 minutes later when he was talking to the owner and some other guy, then the same dude was giving him all kinds of advice

I have not run into people like that yet but Like everyone said above some people are just jerks.

Of course you could have said "yesh, well your face looks so disgusting! At least I can go shower!"

I am just kidding as that is very immature ;)

Really what they should have said was that they understood how hard giving up cigs are and offered you some helpful tips. But clearly they have just become ex-smokers who have that attitude and look down on those who are not as fabulous as they must be for quiting :)

Their behavior is no way winning smokers who may want to vape. It's giving the rest of us a bad name... it may turn those smokers toward supporting the ANTZ and the taxing and the vaping bans...

There, I've said it. Some humans have an innate need to feel superior by looking down on other "lesser" humans. Isn't this what is called prejudice?

No, even though smoking does bother me a little more now than when I did it too the smell but I'm not going to diss someone about it or pass judgement on them, I wouldn't say something like that at all, I'd ask the person about their gear and juices, ask how long they've been vaping, and mind my business if they smoke on occasion or not still. I do think people can get snobby about gear and some juices, ah well, all types in the world...I got my mom into vaping, she still has 1 or 2 cigarettes daily, I look at it that she's smoking less, and that is great news! I'd probably be happy enough to meet and talk to another vaper outside of a vape shop that small things wouldn' t matter to me!

Considering almost every vaper I know is an ex-smoker or still a smoker, that couple isn't going to be making a lot of friends.

Thank goodness I've never met people like that. But if and when I do, I think walking away, knowing you're better off not knowing someone like that, is the better part of valor.

I've always thought the best thing anyone can do for their own mental health and well-being is...
Not to give a flying crap what other people think of you.
:)

But, if you do that, you must also take care not to be a jerk.
Because if you are a jerk, and don't care what people think of you, then you're a ..........

It's a fine line to walk sometimes.
