I am currently smoking but have been looking into vaping as to a way to quite "smoking" all together. I know vaping is not promoted as a smoking cessation device but just wondering. Frankly if I keep vaping I guess it can't be any worse than smoking! I know nicotine is known for it's calming properties so maybe it will be just to hard to give up!

It has been a little less than two days since I received my 510..

I am smoking outside, at the lab, and even taking a discreet hit during my exams.. it's just better and there's no feeling of "quitting" whatsoever!

You should get one, "I am ordering you to"..

Just look at people's signatures and how many days they've been non-smokers!

You won't regret it, trust everyone here!

I don't know that we have very good statistics here on how many folks have quit altogether - I have seen a number of posts, but I would imagine that people who have quit don't have much reason to hang out here anymore. I see a lot of posts by people who use 0-nicotine juice pretty regularly, though. The amazing statistic to me, according to polls here, is the percentage of people who have been able to quit smoking cigarettes - 80% or better.

If you're curious about it, do some reading here and give it a shot. I was amazed at how easy it was to quit cigarettes, relative to attempts in the past. I smoked for over 40 years - I tried half-heartedly to quit a few times, and did quit for a year about 12 years back, but all it took was one cigarette to get me started again. While on vacation in October, a friend showed me his electronic cigar - I was intrigued by it, so I started doing some research when we got home, and stumbled onto this place. I wound up ordering a Vapor King from Vapor4Life - I wasn't hell-bent on quitting, but thought I'd try one out. The first 3 days I had 4-5 cigs a day (normally smoked a pack a day) - I had a few cravings that the e-cig didn't quite satisfy. I bumped up my nicotine level a bit to 24mg, and on the 4th day I didn't have any cigarettes, and haven't had one since. I still have 3 and a half packs of Marlboros sitting around gathering dust, but have not been tempted to light one - I can't begin to imagine me not caving in under any other circumstances. I've had a few odd mild cravings from time to time, but I am fairly certain they have nothing to do with nicotine. I have started to reduce my nicotine levels in the past few days with no problem - maybe I'll get to 0 someday. Even if I don't get to 0, I am happy to have my sense of smell and taste back, and not smell like an ashtray. Give it a try!

I started vapping as an alternative to the cost of smoking cigs. I did read that 70% of people who started vapping eventually quit cigs altogether.

Just understand that it may not be for everyone; that there is a learning curve to vapping, and IT IS NOT LIKE SMOKING CIGS no matter what someone tells you.

Smoked for 31 years, 2 pack a day Marlboro. Vapping almost 2 months and smoke free for 9 days.

The forums and people here are a wealth of information. Best of luck.

Alternative for me too... I like blowing "smoke" so won't be quitting. I also am too used to the good feeling nicotine gives me and probably won't give it up either (smoked since I was 14... a ummmmmmm long time, so have always dealt with life/stress with nicotine/cigs). I tried cutting down to 6mg or so... no good. Back up to 12-18mg or more depending on the mood (ha). I haven't smoked in 8-1/2 months!

Like PianoGuy (and many others here), I stumbled on this site while doing some research after a work friend showed me her ecig. What really struck me as I was reading through thread after thread was the number of banners proclaiming "### analogs avoided" or "analog free for xxx days/weeks/months". I am now anxiously awaiting delivery of my VaporKing and accessories - I want to quit smoking nasty smelly expensive cigarettes and I'm convinced vaping will help. The VaporKing is my Christmas gift this year, from me to me. :)

You are on the right track for improving your health. I would like to make one suggestion to make the move to vaping easier. Most people want to find a juice that tastes like their analog. What you might want to consider instead is to find a juice that tastes like something you really enjoy. That might be cheesecake, cinnamon, coffee, and the list goes on and on. The point is get something that will make you want to pick up the PV and use it. I found that menthol was the best for me and I rarely smoked a menthol. The thing you really want to make sure of is that your nic strength is high enough. You can always cut it down with a couple of drops of vg if it is to strong. Another thing that I was thinking of (if you really want to keep the nic out of your lungs) is to vape a zero nic juice and use a step down system with patches. That might be harder to do but it would not be as hard as patches alone. Good luck.

Vaping is a smoking alternative for me. At this time, I have no intention of giving it up. After 4 months "smoke-free", I still get occassional urges for a cigarette. And about once a month I actually light one. But they taste NASTY now. So I do not see myself ever going back to analogs.

I had no idea I would actually come to prefer vaping to smoking. A very pleasant surprise, indeed.

Thanks! lots of great advice! I've been looking at the Vaper King as well and am pretty sure I"ll order it VERY soon! I smoke a little less than a pack a day. about 1 an hour what strength juice do you recommend?

That kinda depends on what type of cig you smoke. If full flavored 18 to 24 would be a good starting point.

As of 3 hours and 10 minutes ago - I'm a vaper!! My VaperKing package was waiting for me when I got home from work today. I smoked a cigarette - uhm,,analog - while I was reading the instructions. Little bit later I tried vaping - couugh cough hack hack - it was great. I felt a little light-headed after a couple puffs, but I kinda liked it. Waited a bit and tried again - I found that if I inhale sort of into the front of my mouth before pulling it to the back of my throat (does that make sense?) it doesn't make me cough. Then I smoked another regular cigarette - it didn't really taste very good, which is a good sign. I've been smoking a pack a day for many years, so I got 24 mg stuff. I think the real test will be tomorrow morning. I do have a little bit of a headache now, maybe related to the vaping. But I'm thinking about plugging into the usb port and vaping right here at my computer, right now. Cool.
