I live in the middle of nowhere with cactus as neighbors, so I am internet oriented. But, when I go to a city, I try to stop at vape lounges to just sit and visit. If they have juice that I know is available on the internet, I will try some and buy a bottle or two out of courtesy. But I like to chat, too. Nice to spend an hour or so.

I live in a tiny town in rural KY. One day I hit up the local hardware store and both dollar stores looking in the tool section for a usable pair of side cutters. Each place I went to there was a fellow about 20 years my junior looking in the exact same place. We were in each others way every where we went. I finally commented jokingly one of us must be stalking the other. It turns out he was a vaper looking for the exact same thing. We talked about vaping for a while after that. Neither of us found what we wanted locally. It's still new enough here that meeting other vapers usually leads to a conversation.

Here vaping is still new enough that some people look at you strange but others know the deal and just ignore it. There are lots of tobacco farmers here though and they see it as a possible threat to their crop. There exists here this wierd allegiance to smoking because our local economy has depended on it so heavily for so long. Even with all the science proving smoking is so bad for a person some here still insist that it isn't. We still have smoking restaurants. There aren't any real vape lounges. That would be a cool thing to visit.

Most vapers I run into are friendly. Walking to a store, having a puff before I get there, another vaper will see me and hold up their mod and wave. I've been at a restaurant, in the smoking section with a friend that smokes, my mod sitting on a table and me not even touching it and I got told to put it in my car by the waitress, it's not allowed at all. I told her I had no intention of using it indoors but she didn't care. I told her to go eff herself and got up to leave, and was followed by 3/4 of the people there. They showed their mods as they were leaving and told her off worse than I did. The manager came out before we left, said she was fired and all our meals were free. Then showed us his mod. We turned the smoking area into a vape lounge for the next 3 hours, about 40 people just hanging out bs'ing about vaping.
Maybe I should move back to Texas....

I'm in a small town south of Fort Worth, down in Johnson county. All different races, religions and walks of life seem to get along great. Although you see more younger baggy clothes wearing people in the vape shops, they are polite and friendly to everyone. The employees at some shops are an exception, but for the most part, their customers are not. As long as you don't judge them by their looks, the vast majority will show you the same respect.

I went to a renfair a while back and struck up a conversation with a person I had never met before vaping. After about 30 min there were almost 10 of us all of us passing our mods around tasting each others juice...
Smokers would never do that "hay, how does your stinky taste? lemme take a drag"
It is amazing how we flock to each other. As we move from day to day, its hard at times to get together with friends. Ever since I started DIYing and selling my juice to friends and family, they now have a good reason to stop by. I have people over now at least two times a week.

I dont think she was annoyed cause she thought you were hitting on her but i think that was her defense mechanism because of the negativity she may have received about it in the past and the dirty looks so she automatically assumed she was going to get the after school special chat..

In all honesty, if you ask me about my mod or device I'm tooting on I'll gladly respond. However I chose vapes to quit smoking and not for a social or look cool persona. If someone I don't know asks me if they can have a puff I'll likely ask them if they'd let me use there tooth brush.. It's as gross as that.

Not sure if there's a subforum for it and if there is I must've missed it but there should be a subforum for each state/country/general area so that people on the forums can get together and do their own impromptu vape meets. I live in SoCal so you would think there would be a lot of those but I've never even heard of one. Although I think there is an Electronic Cigarette Convention coming up soon nearby. I've never been to one before but I'm definitely going to try to make it to this one.

Ditto this, which seems damned odd to me, living on the outskirts of a huge city, you'd think there'd be a vape meet monthly! But I've never even heard of a vape meet in Atlanta.

Well, no... I read on some site of a vape thing that took place in ATL... in 2012 or something.

Yesterday, I learned that the first vape shop I ever entered was going out of business, and they were having a Goodbye Party. So, that gave me a big sad, and we went over there. But I wouldn't call it a party; there were about 20-30 people sitting around at the tables, building coils, fogging up the place... I didn't know anyone, so we just talked to the guy behind the counter, expressing our surprise and sorrow that SteamCigs would no longer be around. And that was that, so we left. Really not what I would call a party.

Yeah theres a big convention coming up in Pomona, I think its next month. Its at the LA County Fairgrounds like 5 minutes from my house so Ill definitely be there. Do you use Tapatalk at all on your phone/tablet for the forum? Theres a forum on there called Cali Vapers or something like that, although its not really as active as this one, and the general attitude on it seems to be more the hipster cloud chaser type.

Welcome to the Obama Nation. He, he, he.
I had friends who's kids where doing that when Bush was in office. What's your point? That you picked a side and have been blind to the fact that both sides are just as crooked? I've said it once, and I'm sure I'll say it plenty more times, democrat and republican are just opposite sides of the same counterfeit coin.

My point is there for those that can clearly see it. If you think I am going to get down in the mud with you trying to explain myself, you are mistaken.

The only place you can talk vaping is online, which is a poor substitute for in-person social contact in which you share with each other.

You do know that people are able to reply to what you say online, almost, the same way they could IRL...you just wont get interrupted mid sentence

I rarely even see anyone vaping. But then I don't go anywhere either lol. Work n home. Out to lunch a couple times a week. Eat at bar so I can vape. Waiters vape, so I talk to them a bit.

I'm a lot like you - work > home > work (rinse & repeat) However, vaping not allowed in any restaurants/bars here. God forbid I get busted vaping at my desk (previously asked not to do it, but still do - more than I should....)

Other than in a local vape shop that I don't frequent, I've only seen one other vaper in the wild around here. I probably would "hang out" at the vape shop if I wasn't twice the age of the average customer, lol.

True dat

Nah, my vape was on the bar and I'd been using it for a while before I asked her that. Maybe she was just annoyed that someone she didn't already know spoke to her. Society is like that anymore.
