In Mexico, I vape a white eRoll, looks exactly like an analog, and always carry a lighter ... :D

Its sad that Mexico has mistakenly applied a federal law against "artificial cigarettes", that pre-dates e-cigs, into a ban on sales and import of PVs and juice. Many young people I have met would love to quit smoking, but a PV is only good as long as you can refill it. And smuggling juice in bulk through Mexican Customs is ill-advised, the penalties could be severe ...

tobacco sales and tax revenue are clearly the issue ... :(

The federal ban on indoor smoking that Mexico enacted in 2008 lasted exactly 17 days (I counted) in Tijuana. The ashtrays were put aside and Xeroxed "No Fumar" signs appeared everywhere. Two and a half weeks later, the ashtrays were back in bars and restaurants, the signs came down, and it was as if nothing had ever changed. Majority rules ... :vapor:

This whole socially acceptable debate reminds me of Timothy Leary's idiotic crusade.
I could argue that, but we're not allowed to. So instead I'll talk about Thalidomide
Wikipedia said:
Thalidomide has received regulatory approval in numerous countries as a treatment for multiple myeloma and erythema nodosum leprosum (a dermatologic complication of leprosy). Research also suggests that thalidomide is useful in treating complications of infection with HIV, such as wasting syndrome, nausea, and prurigo nodularis. Thalidomide has also been found to be effective in treating actinic prurigo, an autoimmune skin disease. Thalidomide has been used in chronic bullous dermatosis of childhood (CBDC) with encouraging results. Studies carried out in animal models have suggested the use of combined therapy with thalidomide and glucantime could have a therapeutic benefit in the treatment of visceral leshmaniasis. A study published in April 2010 discussed the ability of thalidomide to induce vessel maturation, which may be useful as a therapeutic strategy for the treatment of vascular malformations. The research was conducted in an experimental model of the genetic disease hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia.

Investigational uses include:

AIDS wasting syndrome, associated diarrhoea and Kaposi's sarcoma.
Renal cell carcinoma (RCC)
Glioblastoma multiforme
Prostate cancer
Melanoma
Colorectal cancer
Crohn's disease
Rheumatoid arthritis
Behcet's syndrome
Breast cancer
Head and neck cancer
Ovarian cancer
Chronic heart failure
Graft-versus-host disease
Thalidomide is a drug with a known side-effect that is easily avoided, but it will be many decades before it is socially acceptable. Unlike e-cigs there was a very good reason for its fall from grace, but its demonisation has almost certainly prevented many people getting effective treatment for their conditions.

The situation we are now in is like a researcher in 1962 saying that Thalidomide might be an effective drug for certain conditions. It's a hard line to sell, but it will save lives.

It is said that politics is the science of the possible. But science is only interested in the truth, whereas politics is people talking to one another. Not everyone tells the truth even as they know it to be because politics is not about the truth; it is about power and it is achieved through people talking. If the right people say the right things, the right outcome is achieved.

The science says vaping is a net good. If it becomes impossible, only politicians can be to blame.

And we are all politicians.

Not socially acceptable quite yet. My gf and I just had this conversation a couple days ago. She was a smoker that smoked anywhere and I was a reclusive smoker. Embarrassed of it really. The same thing is happening with a apv's. I've never given to much concern to what people think but for some reason I do with smoking. Then I see ego style units, tanks and juice at Walmart!!!!!!! That is a step up socially for vapers. Just because of the exposure it will give.

Its not a huge advancement but its a start. I think every gas station in my town have e juice and some sort of ecig. I was sitting in traffic yesterday and got a very peculiar stare as I was creating massive clouds with my vamo, the on looker looked stunned as vapers was billowing out of my window Lol. The second time I looked over I noticed he had a blu Ecig. I determined it was jealousy not fright he was feeling. Now is the toughest time I feel we will face as more and more fear mongering occurs. There is not to much research done to support that this is in fact a healthier alternative. People don't actively search for answers and the haters and non smokers just assume its just as bad or they hear or read some bs over exaggerated story in the news.

A friend of mine has some sort of crazy mod that I'm not sure what is but its huge, colorful and wacky looking and he fits in the "idgas"(I don't give a s%#*) category and vapes where he pleases.

There aren't many vapers where I am. I've never seen another vaper in the wild. I do get asked a lot of questions (usually when I'm vaping away in the smoking area) and pass out a ton of whatever vendor's business card I happen to have in my purse, but for every person who's curious and interested there's one being hostile or snide. Oh well. It's my life and lungs, not theirs. I didn't care about being "socially acceptable" when I was lighting up for 25+ years. Why start now?

Not socially acceptable and I doubt it ever will be. Vaping is too close to smoking---which has been demonized and shamed for years. In my area there are dozens of vape shops, not to mention every convenience store pushes a variety of cigalikes, and I never see anyone vaping in the wild--except at vapeshops. I have to be honest with myself. I do hit on my vape in public, but only after glancing around to see if someone might be looking at me. Not something I'm proud of....
