A lot of new vapers are having analog cigs in there first weeks of vaping, and while doing so the feel bad, and start to think that the could never leave their analog addiction, and ma bee vaping isn't the way to quit smoking...

now I want to ask you something,
remember when you were a child or teenager?
what was your first response to your first experience with:

1-coffee?
2-alcohol?
3-cigs?

your answer to all 3 would probably be "yak!"

if so,than why do most people continue consuming this products, and later on even have a taste for it?

the reason is acquired taste.
this process in the brain, where you experience something you dislike ,but it causes you to feel "good" or "high" afterwards, if repeated several times, will make your brain "learn" that a short while after the bad taste-comes great pleasure, thus it connects between this taste and the rewarding pleasure feelings it causes, to gradually make you like this taste, even though it was disgusting to you at the first time you tried it.

The same principle applies here , with e-cigs and analogs.

when vaping at the beginning, you brain doest know how to associate the taste with "nicotine reward", and although you are putting nicotine in your system, you still get the feeling of "something missing", and thus smoke an analog to complete the void in your soul.

that's why so many beginners are searching the "tobacco juice", or prefer mini e cigs-more resembling to analogs, in order to satisfy this brain fixated reflex.

that's a really natural process to experience and go thru, so you shouldn't feel bad for having analogs at this first period.
it can take your brain between 1-4 weeks until it will fully understand that vaping rewards nicotine like analogs do, and since vaping is much more sweat, it would prefer automatically vaping over smoking.

so when you begin your vape -keep on smoking analogs, don't fight the craves, as gradually they will disappear, and after a month, you wouldn't want to get close to an analog ,and it will smell treble to your senses.

All very good points! And if I may add that, atleast for me, it was learning to 'trust' mentally, that this ecig thangy would deliver! Know what I mean? You've been trusting analogs to 'take care of your crave' for YEARS, and although this ecig acts like smoking, it's still something new to you and you're just not SURE it's going to do what it's supposed to do. Good post!

Myself and exactly 63 people I've converted. The other 39 are slowly weaning themselves off analogs and most only smoke in the a.m. with their java. I have an excel sheet that has all the particulars- start date, juice mg, PG/ VG, flavors, sensitivities, etc. I email them the form each month and they fill in the blanks.

does any of you know someone who went from analogs to digital "cold turkey" style? (and succeeded)?

I had that same problem I started Vaping in 2010 and stoped analogs completly and then eventually stoped vaping as time went on I broke (last month) and started smoking which brought me back to vaping. I would have vaped sooner but I gave my pv to a friend who needed it and not haveing one around caused me to smoke again. Moral of the story if you stop vaping keep that joker put away for that rainy day!

WTG Vapoor eyes, that's incredible!

Me too, I was fortunate to make the switch cleanly. But I want to say for other that haven't been able to, it's ok.
Don't stress yourself out or fret over a few smokes here or there. Keep at it and it will work. Telling yourself your "quitting" tends to peak anxiety and fear of loosing a most beloved friend. Try to look at it as a switch at first. Telling yourself only switching brands and NOT giving up your smoking can make the transition easier and fool you into relaxing more. For me this was the key to my successful quit.

Very good points but you left out one. The cravings that a person gets, isn't for nicotine because you're already getting that through vaping. It's the craving for all the other junk in cigs that we were putting in our bodies. Also, as you stated, it's the metal part of it...seeing the smoke.

What worked for me was to go on a brisk walk. I took my PV and a bottle of water. I walked like I racing for my life. Getting my blood flowing helped in getting all the toxins out. I know this won't work for everyone but the key is to find something that makes your brain shift in a different direction. In time, you're cravings will vanish.

One more thing, if you're still struggling, there is a juice out that I find really helps me get through high stress days. That's WTA (whole tobacco alkaloid). My favorite vendor for this juice is www.vapelicious.com. You might give it a try and use it ONLY when a craving hits to see if it helps make it go away.

Good points. Smoking is a physical addition, with very strong brain/mental hooks into routine and ritual. Minis still have the 'fiddle-factor' that cigs have, but also have the ability to p!ss off non-smokers. In the long run, that isn't really a favor to the vaping community.

Some PVs have a pretty strong routine and ritual to keep them going. Some find the switch relaxing and enjoyable, some find it a hassle. Smoking is easy. Light, smoke, cough, repeat until you die.

When you commit to not smoking, you are changing a lot of things in your brain, as well as your body. Examine your new routine and ritual. Do you enjoy futzing around with cartos/attys/tanks or dislike it? If you outright hate it, try some other delivery system. All PVs are basically a battery, with widely varying voltages, lifespan, charging time and adjustability. The carto/atty/tanks are the delivery mechanism, and each can have a different experience. The battery/PV certainly influences the experience as well, but the the delivery is what you taste and inhale.

Thank you but lottsa thanks goes to my wife, a non smoker, who allows, supports and assists in this endeavor. Many of these converts are her childhood friends and it really did trouble her to see them smoking.
I also strongly agree with
"Don't stress yourself out or fret over a few smokes here or there."
When I first began vaping I had a regimented schedule as when I would step it down in mg. After a few months I realized vaping was not only about kickin' the stinkies to the curb but being comfortable and stress free about it. I now set dates for stepping down (Sept, 2011= 36 mg and now at 8 mg) but if I don't meet those target dates...who the H cares LOL. It was REALLY tough at first because my background is construction and schedules and completion dates were ALWAYS a priority and I actually had to radically change my thought process and not worry about self expectation= not feeling like a failure but more importantly feeling stress free and happy. Wife has also noticed that I'm far more laid back and happier in general. So it was tough at first but the benifits of self change through the act of vaping have brought about a very positive and less stress full lifestyle...guess who's drinking lottsa java this a.m.

I guess i quit cold turkey and did the switch without any real issues. I think its different for everyone. I switched only about a month ago but i haven't had an analog since i got my kit. I think vapor took some getting useto during the first few days. When i had a crave for analog i just vaped more. I don't want to go back either. Good luck with your quit.

the main point is to reach out to those who crave analogs at their vaping starting point,to reassure them that's normal.
tho nicotine is replaced, you still might crave, and mainly its because your mind hasn't fully connected with the new delivery system.
people are usually very dichotomous about this, and figure that if they still crave analogs, that they better as well stop vaping -for it being "pointless"...

I bought two PV's--one is a Joye eGo C and the other is a smaller unit that is more like an analog. The eGo C gives me longer battery time, better taste, better vapor, better everything, BUT when I have a craving for an analog (which is surprisingly rare after only five days without one), I find the analog size one works better for me. It's totally psychological since it's not delivering the nic as well as the eGo, but I'm a writer and I'm used to an analog in my hand while I'm writing, so having a PV that size in my hand, even when I'm not sucking on it works for me.

Another thing that helps when I have a craving is to drink water. Just chug a bottle or glass. I have no idea why it works, but it really does.
