When you're new to vaping and you drink a bit, you're gonna smoke one or two. Just keep vaping right along with it and don't feel guilty because it doesn't mean a thing. It's just not the same as smoking when quitting any other way. The more you vape, the less likely you'll be to smoke over time and that's just the way it is. Eventually you won't even want the one while drinking.

Taking along some tobacco flavored juice won't hurt, either, but I don't know that it will fill the bill when you're still remembering how regular cigarettes tastes.

The main thing is that you realize you won't be "failing". It's just part of the whole process of getting away from the cigarettes completely. It's a life change that doesn't HAVE to happen overnight.

With vaping, it works anyway.

Try THAT with a patch or cold turkey. WHOLE different ball game....lol

This was my main issue going into quitting cigs for vaping. I stopped smoking on monday and had no problems or cravings all week but I knew the weekend would be tough. Friday night I get to the bar (about 9 of my friends smoke cigs) and when they went outside to smoke, I turned on my mvp and started puffing. Honestly, I overplayed the whole situation, it was much easier then I originally thought. It's also nice to see my friends spend $10 a night while I use about $0.30 of juice per tank.

A lot of people have this feeling of being embarassed using any sort of e cig in public, don't. You're health > strangers opinions. It also couldn't help to get another smoking buddy into vaping so you can have someone joining you. Best of luck and stay strong!

Don't buy cigarettes - chain vape - and if you really need to, bum one.

I got pretty trashed last weekend, and it didn't even dawn on me to smoke - but I vaped like mad. YMMV.

I found myself consciously making the decision to go outside with the smokers so they didn't feel ostracized - now that was a new feeling.

So I have a question. I have not drank any alcohol except one beer yesterday since vaping. Now my son was all gun hoe on vaping but he turned 21 yesterday and guess what he bought a pack of analogs when he went to the bar. I don't want this to happen to me. I have a Christmas Party coming up the first week of December for my work. I have always smoked more analogs while drinking then when I am not. What did you people do to make sure you don't go back to the analogs?

Peace,

Mushroomie

I bring extra full tanks with me..... problem solved!! :toast:

OK, let me say this. "One beer since vaping."

Sorry, I can't relate. :toast: I've had one beer since starting this post.

Someone suggested drinking soda at the party. Dude, you're missing the whole point of the Christmas party, where the future ex-employees get tanked and either tell the boss "the truth" or makes a pass at his mistress, or him, or both.

But cutting back on the alcohol is not a bad idea. I remember during long ago quits, going to the bar, and after a few drinks, logically concluding that I've done so well not smoking, that I'd reward myself with a cigarette! (Have 3 beers and a few tequilas, then tell me that isn't logical!!)

The fact that you are aware of the possible pitfall is huge, it won't catch you by surprise.

And your son is 21. A child, caving in to peers and the newness of drinking at 21. You are wiser, mature, knowledgeable and stronger!! Plus, you'll have full tanks, charged batteries, a battle plan, and all of us pulling for you.

Mushroomie, go have a great time. :toast::party:

Every time I drink I think i want a smoke, until I taste it, then I think man that really ruins the taste of my rum, double RY4 and some good rum really seem to fit well together for me mm mm.

you may just have to find a juice that fits with what your drinking then it is hard to want to smoke cuase it ruins the combo lol

I play darts in a bar league every week and it's been over 5 weeks since I quit. I just go out now and then with my friends that smoke and I just stand there and vape instead. I've actually been out quite a few times since I quit and it's not as hard as I thought it'd be. Plus I can vape in the bar so I don't have to go out in the cold. I had like 3 or 4 people last night tell me they liked the smell of the vapor. I was vaping a liquid made my the local vapor lounge.

The biggest thing, especially when starting vaping is the following:

Don't count your failures by the cigarettes you smoke, count your successes by the ones you don't!

This is what gets me through. I have the hardest time staying away from them when I am drinking. Usually I have one or two (although I don't plan on it and I try not to), BUT I am back to vaping the very next day, or sometimes even that night, and not running out to buy a pack!

Good luck, HTH!

Are you like 16 years old? I know you're likely not, but I've been one who drank soda at work Cmas parties. Kept my wits about me, had fun, and didn't give into the adult version of peer pressure. This was also during my period of cold turkey / no smoking, so wasn't tempted going into to have a smoke.

Now that my opinions have changed a bit, being a user again, I'd advocate for having a smoke if one is putting themselves in that position. I'd certainly consider upping nicotine, vaping openly, and all things pro eCig to hopefully not have a log, as may be the desire (to not smoke). If one truly doesn't want to have a smoke though, the best response, IMO is to go, have fun, and don't drink alcohol. My previous post on this thread was with regards to one who is considering drinking alcohol and sees it as a test of their willpower.

Having a smoke, while being a vaper, is in my opinion, no huge deal. I realize many, probably majority of vapers disagree with this, but I stand by that idea. And as I've noted many times before, including this post, I've gone smoke free in my adult life for nearly 10 years after experiencing myself as a PAD user. I'm currently a PAW user, and enjoy moderate smoking.

I don't know that I've really noticed any vapers disagreeing. Most of us already know that having a cigarette while being a vaper is nothing like having a cigarette when trying to quit. One cigarette and it's easily back to vaping.

The only people have a problem with is piling guilt on themselves and they'll do that about anything...lol

People are guilt junkies.

I do most of my vaping with a nightcap before bed. Love a vape that compliments a nice scotch.

single malt? Islay, Highland, Speyside, etc? what vape would you pair with it?

I've found Halo's Southern Classic with Laphroaig Quarter Cask is just delightful. See? it made me say 'delightful'!

However, with Oban or Lavagulan, I prefer something with more nuttiness or a vanilla note.

I'm friending you solely based on your obvious enjoyment of a good single malt scotch. Though you did forget to mention Talisker. :)
