Does the Waidea VF use a balanced charger? I don't recognize the edge of the board in the picture below and am wondering why it has a wire coming in from both sides.

Here are 2 of Willies Pics showing Shrink tubing removed. You ought to recognize those boards. 510 ground and ground jump to RAYN ChiNA40 [-BAT]?

It's what I'm calling a parallel board.
It wires to B+ & B- and on the main board.
Both battery positive boards, and 510 ground go into this board.
When I upgraded mine with the authentic DNA40 I relocated the 510 ground back to the 510 ground on the evolv board, and took the B- from the evolv board and ground from the parallel board to chassis ground using the aa-duct electrically conductive silver epoxy.
This way seemed more logical to me for secure grounding to me than the way they had it, and it has been rock solid stable so far.

so....general consensus on these clones? After reading through the thread it seems as if it is a gamble. Waidea seems to be the safest bet?

Waidea is closest to a 1:1 clone. It has a potential for an electrical grounding issue which can usually be resolved fairly simply, if you experience it at all - Waidea have been informed of the problem and promised to fix it for subsequent batches, so there's always a chance that if you ordered now you'd get a fixed one (how big of a chance I could not say.)

Ultimately you're paying not more than $70 for a clone of a product that sells for $250+, and is in most respects as good or nearly as good. The price you pay is a multiple-week wait, and the small chance of a multiple-month wait if it turns out to be DOA or if it has the grounding issue and you're unwilling or unable to fix it yourself (which can be as simple as removing and then replacing the top cover more tightly.)

If you want more peace of mind, wait a few weeks until someone reports getting a Waidea with the fix for the ground.

But given the vast price difference, it's not something you should really think about too hard. You won't get ripped off, and the risk of having to wait longer than you might hope for is well worth the huge reward of a tiny price for a great product.

I'm kind of undecided if I would put it back in if installing an Evolv board, I'm pretty sure the original VF doesn't use one...but then again it surely can't hurt to put it back in.

Not a gamble they both preform remarkably well.
Waidea is dang near 1:1 clone fit and finish, however can be subject to grounding issues due to the way Waidea did their grounding, but is a rather easy fix.

Sweet....might pick one up. Thanks! Do you know if the kangxin clone that ships from the USA actually ships quicker?

I'm
I have no idea but there are 4 VF V3 clones on focal ecig, two of which say it ships from USA Warehouse. I was assuming they are kangxin's because they do not say Waidea
Look more closely...Waidea
I bought both, there's no way I'd buy another Kanxin, really sloppy build on the inside.
ETA is May 5th... not too long off

Also I think it's other function is for polarity protection, also keep in mind I never removed the USB, Or know of anyone else that has on the Waidea and could be part of the of the charging system, but thats just speculation.

It has the same #'s on the one in the Kanxin, I didn't use the parallel board. Only has one battery anyway now

I see it now...how long did it take for them to ship when you ordered from the USA Warehouse?
I had to wait till they got them, it said 04-23, but it shipped 04-21 and I received it 04-23
I ordered on 04-07
I would think if you order now you would be using it by 05-08
