Oh, that's if I liked the VF in the first place but it's not my cup of tea... Too bulky?

You and I must be opposites in size...the flask feels so small in my hand...my wife, who has turned down two mods I made for her as "too big"....and has darn small hands...loves it...she held the second one I bought and rather than gripe about vape money, she said, "Wow...I love this!". "I though it would be too big" says I, "No the shape of it makes all the difference" she tells me....going to stop now before it sound X rated.

Croak, and others.

Any one having issues with the flask and Kayfun V4s? I have a SXMini and it fires all of my (5) Kayfun V4 clones fine.
With the flask (and I rebuilt it this AM, 8 wraps, 2.5mm, .17 ohm) at times it goes into immediate TC Protection, other times it tells me that the atty is "open", it is quite inconsistent.

If I put a 1.8 ohm nautilus it fires fine but of course that is bypassing the whole TC piece.

This is a known issue with legit dna40 chips as well. It is due to the spring that conducts the current in the KF4 interfering with the chips ability to read the resistance correctly. Look up spring delete mod for kayfun 4 and you should see the instructions on how to use the AFC screw to make a sold connection with the base that will allow it to work with dna40 style mods. They'll work fine in kanthal mode usually but in TC mode with ni200 it screws with the chip and you get errors like this one.

The Kayfun V4 is a piece of crap when it comes to nickel builds (actually, it's just a piece of crap, but that's another story).

The bottom assembly can really screw up resistance readings, as the 510 pin makes contact with build deck via a bolt that makes contact with a spring that makes contact with the airflow tube which makes contact with the positive posts. See where this is going? One weak link in that chain and there goes your resistance...it's not a big deal with Kanthal, nobody gives a damn about a tenth of an ohm on those builds, but when a nickel build's total resistance is just over a tenth of an ohm, well...

What you need to do is tighten the 510 screw on the Kayfun all the way in, then keep fiddling with the juice flow control and 510 adjustment screw on the Flask. Once you've got it able to see an atty is attached, you're not done though. Screw the atty off and on a bit to get the "New Coil?" prompt. If the ohms are too high, back the atty off until no resistance is showing on the display, close and open the juice flow, screw it back down on the unit, and repeat until the board reads your actual resistance.

DO NOT ACTUALLY FIRE THE KAYFUN until this is done. If you do fire it first, set it aside, wait a nice long while for the coil to cool back down to room temperature, and start over. Once you've got it reading the correct ohms, it should operate properly. Until the next time you close and open the juice flow control ring.

Or, you could spend about $15 for this:

Damn, even looks like the buttons are done right. Or, that could be a picture of a real VF again.

EDIT. Never mind, it is a clone:

EDIT AGAIN:

Looking at the silver version and seeing that brass firing button, I'm pretty sure this is the long-awaited Waidea "1:1" clone.

Yeah that is The Waidea Clone all right! Leave it to Summer to forget the Self adjusting pin! Knew there was a reason he tried to Skype me last night.

BTW congrats on receiving your flask! Mine has gone MIA again between Flushing & Trenton, NJ

Something else to note about this unit, mine seems to read temps a little on the low side, about 40f-60f lower than a real Evolv board. This jibes with Robby over on the AAEC forum's findings.

It just felt like 400-450f was too cool of a vape, so I tried the cotton test in a Subtank RBA, the Kayfun, and on a Marquis RDA. All three of them needed to be set close or above 500f to brown the cotton, with the Marquis going first, which I attribute to the longer coil legs that deck requires, and the fact that these things read the average resistance of the entire coil, legs and all. I've rebuilt some Atlantis and Subtank heads with Nickel, and they have really long legs, so they are probably even more inaccurate (on a clone or real DNA40).

So, if you're using the Kangxin VF, try setting your temp a bit higher than the "common wisdom", or do the wick test yourself to find out how far off you are.

Can anyone explain the difference between the Black and Silver versions please? I see the obvious where the 510 connection and firing button are not the same look/material. I really wanted a silver VF clone with the same 510 connector seen on the black unit. So are these from different manufacturers?

Vapor Flask DNA 40 Style VW Variable Wattage Mod Version 3 - Silver, 1~40W, 2 x 18650, Micro USB Charger, Temperature Control - 3FVape

Vapor Flask DNA 40 Style VW Variable Wattage Mod Version 3 - Black, 1~40W, 2 x 18650, Micro USB Charger, Temperature Control - 3FVape

I'm seriously about to give up on the VF clones lol

No, they're from the same place most likely. I'm willing to bet the silver version pictures are of a prototype, the black version is probably more current and likely indicative of what you'll get.

Seriously, after all the crap Waidea has promised and done, up to and including using real VF pictures to represent their product, and not knowing what it's built like inside or how well their board, connector and buttons actually work, I wouldn't recommend anyone purchase that unit over the Kangxin unit unless you really like gambling. If you just want a housing for a real Evolv chip, the SXK clone is still the way to go.

Waidea really needs to send reviewers some. The only thing really sub-par on the Kangxin flask is the 510 connector, but at least it's adjustable.

Thanks @Croak! I'll wait a bit more and see what happens. Problem is my DNA20 just died and I can't afford to buy a temp mod while I shop around for a good clone. Anyone knows if a US vendor carries the Kangxin units (with USB)? Or any of you guys has one for sale? I'm really desperate lol

"I want one"

It's amazing how fast the OCD can set in even if it is a Flask. :D

I'll bet it would handle any special 510 connector you wanted to stick in it. [emoji14]
Oh... Yeah... Well, it's cute and the form is different but I think it would be to big to be stealthy. ;)

And yes, any special or ordinary 510 connector should fit :)

I don't think it's too bulky...bigger than an iStick 50w, but still pretty small in the hand.

Quick size comparison. From left to right: Beyond Vape Beacon mech, Innokin MVP 2.0, VF clone (duh!), Cloupor Mini

IMAG0046.jpg

IMAG0048.jpg

It really isn't that big compared to the others you have but if you consider that my all day mod is/was/will be a mini hana clone converted to dna 40 and a 18650 that is 72mm tall (that cloupor mini is 77mm tall), they are all bigger to what I have and I still think my mini could be smaller lol.

I don't think my mod is a sexual extension of any kind :D but yeah, we are different. For me the smaller the better. I abandoned tube mods exactly because they are huge when you like regulated devices and put a 18650 in them (always ran them with 18350).

I am hoping they will be like " oh .... they want an adjustable 510! (or better yet a spring loaded)" and they will stop an order on all the current VF and send out the new ones.

Ohh we can dream

im not sure this has been mentioned but the reg subtank 25mm will not work on temp controlled mods because it has a 510" spring" connection, this has been stated by kangertech, the prob is the spring.
the subtank mini and nano do "not" use a 510 spring connection so they will work on temp controlled mods

It works fine with Ni200 if you use the chromed "beauty ring" 22mm to 25mm adaptor that comes with the big Subtank. I've re-built my own Ni200 OCC heads and used the RBA section with Ni200. I don't own a Mini or Nano.

Temp control working in a Marquis RDA in single coil mode, with a home-rolled Subtank OCC Ni200 head (sorta), and in a Kayfun V4 clone single coil, all with twisted 30ga.

Only thing I don't like is the 510 connector. It's hella fiddly. Screw came clean out when removing my Subtank, had to spend five minutes on the carpet trying to find the darn thing, and it requires adjustment just about every atty change (Subtank, Marquis, Kayfun, Atlantis, Rogue). My Varitube is going in sooner rather than later.

Fires right from sleep, and only takes a moment from deep sleep (to confirm same coil). Fire button is good, up and down buttons are good, though the up button might be a little sticky, nothing major, just requires center pressure since it's rounded, they're basically Hana-style BB buttons, which are not my favorite.

Just took the batteries out and both have the same level of charge,so it appears I'm using both.

Absolutely love the finish on this thing, it's a very smooth anodizing with just enough texture to provide grip, but not enough to feel like it's powder coated, and in black it's not a fingerprint magnet.

Think it'd be wise to substitute the 510 for a fat daddy?

Received my silver VF3 clone from focal today. Ordered 1/30 - shipped 2/13 - hit stateside on 3/1. I ordered sku 23917 which had/has no pics of the usb side of the device. I assumed it had no usb after the upgraded usb versions showed up on other sites a few days after my order. Well mine has a usb port, both batts make contact without adjusting anything, came in the later white boxes and has brass batt caps and 510 connector. 28ga nickel, 3mm id, 12 wraps came out to 0.16. Set to 40w and 550f. Nice warm, thick, super-flavorful vape. No complaints so far.

Glad to hear the good news!. I was starting to be concerned about my order. I ordered mine (version #1660) from 3fvape on 2/13 and as of today it still only shows "payment received". Maybe I'll still get in in a month or so.
