Sure, it's still a great price for such a unit but I've become accustomed to take their (Chinese business people) words with a fairly large grain of salt :)
I don't think their price will be much more than $47 shipped per unit (when buying 5 units within China). She's saying the price they have to pay is "almost FT listed price" which was something like $59 so already $7-$8 higher than the quote you've received from SXK.

If she was expecting to pay $30 for it, $47 might seem "nearly" $57. Or she might be mis-remembering what FT actually charged.

I dunno. All their other prices are on-par with the other big Chinese vendors, so I can't imagine they chose this one product to start gouging. Perhaps they had no plans to stock it for whatever reason, then they took our emails to mean "let's inflate the price." You can never be sure. There's nothing we can do about it so I prefer to assume honesty :)

If we can get 3FVape to stock it that might bring a lower price, otherwise the option is $71 from Focal; around $62 with slow shipping from VaporBreak or $72-$75 for DHL/EMS, and you have to arrange a 60W specially; or $51 if you can buy five and sell on.

Focal still seems best to me so far, on that comparison.

I don't think FC will have the Flasks for a while yet

Have just finished chatting with SXk & my order has shipped but they are short on components to build any more at present

I was not told if that is case, board, 510 or what but production has stopped atm

Ah OK.

I think the 'sample' they expect in 48 hours is arranged, so that should bring a few units fairly quickly for those of us who pre-enquired or anyone lucky enough to grab one when they apepar. I doubt I will take mine up as I'll get one of yours.

But yeah I guess full stock will take a while longer.

Let's hope they use this pause to fix the resistance!

I've already asked Doris to arrange one for me but I'm starting to have doubts about it. What if the resistance will be fixed with the next run? I mean, there will always be a way to get one as long as they're being produced. I wasn't aware of this resistance problem last week but now I am. Hmmmm, difficult decision...

To keep this anywhere near on-topic I will say that every morning between 3:30 AM and 4 AM I am sitting on the bench behind the square trash can about dead center in the photo vaping my Flask (or something else)
Coronado_Centennial_Park.JPG

So I thought I might make some kind of project out of my little ohms checker till I looked inside and seen all that epoxy they poured in.

How might one get in touch with this "Doris" over at Focal to inquire about reserving a "sample" SXK?!

Also - Were there any Waidea flask clones to use an adjustable or self-adjusting 510? That's been the only reason I passed on them a while ago.

No, Waidea has always been fixed pin. The Kangxin has adjustable but apparently it sucks.

SXK Flasks are all sprung pin.

Damn, ok that's what i thought. I really gotta find me one of these SXKs then... though the Waidea still appear to be the nicest "looking" clones. Havent seen an SXK in person however.

Yeah overall I'd give appearance to my Waidea - it's a 9/10 where the SXK is an 8, maybe a 7.5.

But functionality is a different matter. I'd give the Waidea a 5, and the SXK in its current state, for a knowledgeable user who can counteract the chronic low resistance for accurate TC, an 8 (it'd only be a 5-6 for those who don't know how to counteract that problem.)

When low resistance is fixed it will be a 10/10 - a $50-$70 mod that has more advanced TC than any other mod short of $200-$300 German Dicodes mods. Phenomenal, if/when they fix the main problem with it currently.

(Actually it's not quite fair to say it's more advanced in all ways - its TC algorithm can be a little unsubtle, in the sense that it has a tendency to 'pulse' when you're over the target temp, ie noticeable fire/stop/fire/stop which you can sometimes actually hear. That suggests its TC algorithm is not as sophisticated in edge cases as some others. But the TCR adjustment makes up for that many times over for anyone who wants super-accurate TC in general, and especially to use wires other than Ni200 - as I would recommend everyone should try.)

I know Doris went out of her way to stock the SXK for those who asked her. Shouldn't be a difficult decision at all.
Hey believe me, if there wasn't any profit in this for them they really wouldn't do it. All she did was order a bunch because people were asking about it. You and I can order 5pcs just as easy so it's not like she "went out of her way" to get them. Of course I appreciate that they're planning on selling them but she didn't specifically order them for the people who contacted her. That would mean everyone asking about it would have made a pre-order commitment without knowing about it. TheBloke's the one who had most contact with her but he's also buying one from Quantum Mech instead. Don't feel sorry for them, the ten they've ordered will sell like hot cakes for that price.

Pretty much this... why dont we just do a group buy!? There's got to be more than enough people who would go in on it. (I have no idea how the whole GB procedure works here though...)

Everyone wants the spring loaded 510. I have no quips with the solid one as Taifuns have an adjustable 510. Here's mine which is not a problem as yet but notice the the mounting and dismounting of atties is spinning the 510 post on the spring loaded socket and twisting the red wire. I really don't know if will actually require needing repair or not, it's a pretty big wire. Just saying.

Also this is identical to a FDV v3 shorty. FDV recommends using low strength thread locker (Loctite) on both ends of the 510's insulator because some atties have extra log threads (Magma clone) on their 510 and can push the socket apart. Again just saying.
That insulator is not Delrin but something very soft.

Hmm... looks like a standard 510 from the bottom... wonder if i could install a varitube adjustable 510 pin in there... or if anyone else has.

Well the 14 mm is kind of small and the 22 mm is to big, it needs to be 18.5 mm or less on the flange.
Phone Guy put the guts of a FDV v4 shorty in the existing Waidea 510 housing I believe.
BTW the FDV v3 shorty pictured is spring loaded.
