Ok, have you ever seen the kangxin chip display a power greater than the set power?

I don't think the voltage measurements imply pre-heat is working. What you describe should happen even without preheat.

Did I tell you how much I love this mod? Worth the wait.

I spent quite a bit of time looking at the German reviewer's scope video and am beginning to think you are right about the preheat, the part that is holding me back is how well it works even when compared to the real thing. I've been wanting one of those little scopes, maybe about time I get one. I really need to see that first second of firing. Crow doesn't really taste all that bad, munch, munch.

Edit: and since watching this video and comparing it with the one of the clone I believe there is no preheat taking place with the KX 40D

@ 39 minutes.

Looks like my 1660 is in the belly of a big iron bird winging its way from Beijing airport hopefully in the approximate direction of London! Ordered on 25th Feb so might even get it in less than a calendar month! There is a solar eclipse here today presumably to mark this auspicious occasion!

There is no preheat on the clone. I'm up to 3 people in my circle of friends that have these now. There is definitely no preheat. Shouldn't be a deal breaker though as it's just a slightly less consistent vape. If I was a fan of the flask look I'd snag one as a backup for sure. If the vapor shark ones get good reviews I'll probably snatch one of those up.

There was a guy a few pages back who had the Vapor Shark clone & Waidea/Sunlay Flask & sounded like he liked the flask a lot better.

Anyone have any idea about shipping times on the Sunlay Clone from 3Fvape? I ordered mine a while ago and my order status is still 'Payment Accepted'. I contacted them and was told they are experiencing high demand on this item but would schedule my order in the next 5 days. I saw somewhere that Sunlay can produce 20,000 of these flasks in a week! Is demand really THAT high?

I ordered my Sunlay Flask from 3F on 3/13 and it shipped out 3/14. A few days later, 3F changed the pictures of the flask to on without 1:1 engravings on the bottom. My guess is that there is a new run of Sunlays coming out.

DrJim,

I read an article that claimed there are 20, 000,000 vapers in the USA so for a four month period they would only be able to cover 0.4% of those people over a four month period (typical life span of a vaping product IMO) and they sell world wide.

So while me like you am surprised by there production numbers when you think how many folks this little tiny world holds - not so surprising :2c:

On a related note, I wonder how many authentic units Flask have actually shipped/sold?!?! Those things retail at £250 in UK and only a couple of places actually have any in stock. Shark is cheaper at £150 (rDNA 40) but equally scarce...

My guess is that they've just photoshopped the logos out, the same was done on Focal for the Sunlay - done to appease the copyright owners.
The unit sent will still feature the offending logos.

Thats a hell of a lot of vapers! Surely, they don't all want a clone flask though ?.... First time ordering from china so didn't really know what to expect. Usually I can source my gear in the U.K but not this one.Guess I'll find my place in the que and wait.

I really wish they wouldn't put the logos on. Its adding insult to injury really. I guess I am a hypocrite anyway for supporting the cloning activity in the first place...oh well..

I ordered mine March 15th so only a coupla days after you. Maybe they prioritise the American market over the European? Maybe they just ran out of units that weekend? Maybe I'm just impatient....

Just to understand what the savings are when buying from China here is one from a very fine USA shop.
Vapor Flask V3 40 Watt

That's a hell of a mark up! This MoreTiger version seems to still have the copper battery caps on the bottom too (according to the vid) It's gotta be brass for me...

I am sure these companies are cranking them out as fast and they possible can. I am sure there are some folks making a lot of money. When you consider that the Chinese are cranking the out for $75 USD and making a profit well... you get the picture. Oh and some of the Chinese clones are/will use real DNA40 boards and last I heard will sell for $100 USD.

Don't you wish you had dreamed up TP mode Mods. :vapor:

I'm still not sure what is going on with preheat either way, so put your fork down ;). Whatever is going on, I prefer the Kangxin to the DNA40 during the first second of firing. It seems to be smoother to me. That could be due to any number of things: no preheat, better preheat, a more accurate resistance measurement.....or my imagination.

Certainly the margins on the US boxes must be pretty high. As for 'real' DNA40 boards, from what I can see the reverse engineered chinese versions seem to be doing pretty well, if not better!

ps. do we have any idea what board is in the 3Fvape VS clone?
