I have to take a little break here and think what I'm doing. I seem to have taken an interest in putting one of my Evolv boards back into my empty Cana box. I just cleaned it up and it's ready. I have got to think on this, I really don't like Hana style boxes that much but it's sitting here looking at me.
Yeah I'm not a fan of the square hana boxes either. But it should be easier than the flask. (should be)

Can someone please lend me some help I think I just shorted out my new dna 40 board. I was doin a transplant into my Waidea and got all done, turned it on screwed on an atty and immediately it started firing so I unscrewed it took top plate off and noticed the atty out lead might of been cut through by the top of the positive battery contact. Now it just says shorted anytime I hook up a length of kanthal across atty out and find. Did I just throw $55 down the drain

I would try another 510 connector before you give up on the chip.

Well solder sucker 'cause I had some short wires in there that upon removal the holes were shut on the charging board (used one). I had auto firing upon completion due to a loose strand of wire. Now working good complete with atty lock. Glad I used hot melt instead of epoxy like I had originally planned.

I remove the gnd and the out lead from the 510 and put a piece of kanthal between sed leads and still says shorted. I even ripped the whole friggin board out and just left the positive and negative wires attached along with the gnd and out. Put power to board turns on everything but as soon as I put a load between gnd and out it says shorted. The boards toast. God I feel so stupid and let down.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck! Since you have little to lose (but time) i would probably still try desoldering the whole board and attaching some new test leads/510, just to be sure.

As a long shot hail-mary i would also send Evolv an email and honestly tell them what you believe to have happened and see if they can work with you in any way or if its possibly something that could be fixed for the cost of two ways shipping rather than a whole new board.

Always worth a try.

Best of luck!

I just emailed evolv letting them know what happened. Pretty much stated in the email it was my fault and if there was anything they could do for me. I hope they don't tell me to pound sand since it was my fault. I'm not expecting a free hand out, I hope they understand that from my email. Oh well, live and learn. Thanks guys for all your help. Really great people here.

thanks, and the evolv is fitt in the kangxin VF ?: ) i think this is a stupid question but... :)
Yes it fits as that is the board that China cloned, the problem though is it costs about the same as the VF clone. More likely it's a better board.

Have you tested SS wire on your new toy? If you haven`t, but want to test it, you should use thicker wire - sth like awg24 304 SS 12x3mm. This works on my Hcigar but the Waidea switches back to VW mode. I hope it will work perfect, if you use the Nickel Purity setting at 10.

Btw.: There is an interesting new wire. Resitherm NiFe30 ( Fe 30%, Mn 0,5%, Al 0,6%, Cr 0,3%, Ni balance ). The resistance is 3,67 times higher than Ni200 and the temperature coefficient is a bit higher than the half of Ni200. And it is easier to build and rewick. The new Pipeline Pro V2 has been optimized for this wire. But 13€ is a bit high for 10m ;)

sorry, german only

V interesting on that new wire. Dicodes are doing really interesting things with TC, taking it far beyond Evolv.

Re ss I haven't had a chance yet but hoped to soon. But I don't have SS 304 wire, I have 317L which is more standard for vaping. I don't know how the coefficient compares but my hope is that it's no lower, and might be higher as 317L has a little more nickel in it than 304.

I have 25 gauge 317 so hopefully that's thick enough. My second spool is thin, 30G, but I could make a 2 or 3 strand twist.

Sent by fondling my slab.
