Now that it's fixed and I have it in hand, I love it. I only have 1 other mod that compares too it and that's my Vapor Shark R-dna 40. I like the location of the display on the Flask. The Vapor Sharks display is on the bottom where the Vapor Flasks is on the top. I also love the dual battery of the Vapor Flask. I have to change batteries in my Shark 2 times a day. So the Vapor Flask is definitely an upgrade for me. I will still be taking my Shark to my daily grind at work simply because of the size. But at home, it's the Flask.

I have had my flask 2.1, with celcius, for about a month and a half. I use it everyday all day. I work at a vape shop so i vape more than the average vaper. I have to change my batteries out once a day if i use kanthal builds between .8 and 1.5 ohms, and twice a day if i use TP. Is this normal?

Also, when using TP it displays weak battery when i put fresh batteries in. It will usually just fix itself if i continue to use it but sometimes i have to continuously take the batteries out and put them back in. I thought it was just my kayfun4 because it acts strange sometimes with TP but it does it with everything i own.

I really don't wanna send it back but i probably have to. Has anyone else solved this issue without sending it in or sent one back for this issue?

Freedom,

I don't think when the Bat indicator "fixes itself" it really is when you first put bats in or it wakes up from the shutdown mode it will display the actual bat level or what it thins it the Bat level. After you fire it once or twice it will switch into a bat life expectancy mode. No I don't know why it does this.

Nor for a possible fix:
I use Noalox on the bat plug threads to enhance the aluminum to brass connection. I also when the unit was new cleaned the internal aluminum threads. I think it was "TheKiwi" that suggested the cleaning. Anyway the process is to use some oil or grease on the threads to catch any particles that come lose and prevent them form getting up into you electronics.

I used a little fine steel wool and then cleaned all the dirty gunk out with a clean rag and lighter fluid. Then I applied a reasonably heave coat of Noalox and worked the brass plugs in and out 6 or 7 time to help remove any reaming anodization from the aluminum threads.

I personally did all of this just because I felt it was a good practice not because I had your problem. That said I have read sever claims of people experiencing what you are going thru and sever post that claim the procedure I described above fixed the problem. I am sure you are aware but the anodized coating on aluminum is a fantastic insulator and is used for the exact purpose in many electronic application - but it is not desirable on you battery connection.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the false "Weak Battery" message is a known issue. The Flask must be RMA'd for correction.

Now that is an awesome collection! I'm envious. Do you have an original V1 in that collection? The one that started it all.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, no I don't have a V1. I do have a V2 (#212) that is currently getting the 30 swapped out for a 40 though. I'm going to keep the HEMO's 30w chip in it though.

Hopefully I'm not violating any ecc rules by saying this but I put my v1 up for sale In the classified forum. If your interested check it out.

Joining the thread ... just ordered a Marsala Flask from vaperev!

I have a Protovapor XPV and a HCigar authentic DNA40 18650 box mod as a backup.

Love the Protovapor, extremely well built ... this is a v1 DNA40 chip, worked flawlessly since day 1. Cons: No replaceable battery, single 18650, and tall (a square tube mod).

The HCigar was purchased as a backup unit for $112. Well put together, but wired incorrectly which required some manual fixing. The screen is smoked which makes the DNA40 text/screen look blurry and very difficult to read in bright light. Also, the 510 connector leaves much to be desired. But ... $112 for an authentic DNA40 mod!

Now (hopefully later this week) comes the Marsala VF DNA40. I've been missing the box form factor, replaceable batteries, and battery life. I'm guessing and hoping (sans any glitches) this will be my ultimate premium daily device. Looking forward to it!

No more mods for awhile after this. I swear. For at least a week.

Hey all, I just wanted to share my latest build experiences.

I had a twisted 30 gauge 9 wrap in my Kayfun 4 and it was great. came in at .13 ohms. Bit of a pain to wick, but not too bad. I used KGD for wicking, which I really don't like that stuff, I'm a Rayon guy. Some of you may know that I was thinking about trying Titanium grade one coils.

And I did. I did a 9 wrap spaced Ti coil, and the stuff is 0.5mm, which equates to about 24 gauge. The kayfun 4 had no trouble capturing the leads, which I was worried about, it's thick stuff. Being so thick, it's obviously very easy to work with, and is much more sturdy than nickel, but much less sturdy than kanthal. It's about in between. I was actually able to wick it with rayon, and kind of did the screw in method, which got the density about right. Usually I go more dense than I did, but beggars can't be choosers, my experience with rayon as a wicking material (especially in tanks) has ALWAYS been much better than with japanese cotton.

It's working really nicely, I have it set to 370F to compensate for it being titanium, and the build is .24 ohms. I wish I could set it to 365, because I'm having a difficult time deciding if I think it's at the burning mark or not, but it's probably just me. Rayon has a higher heat tolerance than regular cotton anyway. Running it at 24.8 watts and its a blast. Probably not going to mess with nickel anymore, I had high hopes for the Titanium and they seem to have been confirmed. Glad I gave it a try.

Edit: Yeah it's burning just a tad at 370, backed it off to 360 and it's fine. Probably need to adjust my wicking a bit. Being such a heavy gauge wire, it retains heat more, so when chain vaping, its going to want hit temp control a little easier. At least that's my theory

Hah yeah pretty much. Thanks for the info.

How does the anodizing on the VF hold up? I prefer the black one, but if its going to get scratched up I'll probably go with the clear.

I have a couple black VFs. I'm pretty easy on my gear and still have a very minor nick in one of them. If you want black and are concerned with scratches you could always wrap it in a clear jwrap.
