vaping stories#
Years ago, me and my fishing buddy, who was also a smoker, were out on the lake. My buddy was starting to light a cig when he felt a bite, he went to set the hook and the lighter went flying into the lake. A few minutes later, I tried to light a cig and the flint wheel came loose and went flying into the lake. Luckily, I normally carried a spare in a waterproof tube in my tacklebox. I went looking for it and realized that I had left it in my bellyboat rig. We looked at each other for a couple minutes, talked about options. I know I didn't have a spare in the truck and the nearest store was a ways away. My fishing buddy, who's pretty ingenious, asked if we still had that coat hanger in the boat.
We clipped the coat hanger and straightened it out. We grabbed a large screwdriver from the toolkit and wrapped several coils around it. He said just like a light bulb, connect either end to the battery terminals and the center coils will heat up. Worked like a charm, those crude coils heated up and glowed red and we were able to light up our cigs.
It was good practice for
vaping. That was my first ever single coil build, but I have no idea how many ohms it was! I'm kinda curious now, it was about 6-7 wraps coat hanger gauge, spaced.
