I've vaped for a little over 2 years
used a bottom feeder, from 3 months in
now with all of the sub ohm vaping & cloud chasing, I'm at a loss to understand it
people say they go sub ohm, for the throathit, & the heat, but they use a high VG juice, surely it would be easier to just increase the PG, to cure this
people are wanting more vapour, but when smoking you got what the cigarette produced, you couldn't increase, or decrease it
people changing flavours throughout the day, I'm not saying I'm right, but it seems to me vaping mustn't be as satisfying to people who have to change flavours so regularly

I know that everyone is different, & entitled to do things the way they want, I'm not knocking anyone, or anything like that, so I hope no one takes offence, at what I've written, I'm just genuinely interested, as to why it all goes on
i guess I'm wanting to know if I'm missing out on something LOL

Id love for people to explain, why they've gone down a certain route, like sub ohming, etc, etc

thanks for reading
Frank

to some it is a hobby not just a replacement for cigarettes. so I like the hobby aspect of building different coils and different things to see how it affects the vape. no I don't change flavors a lot but do like a change up.

Some don't like the flavor of PG, I can taste it, some get a reaction to it, yes it increases TH but VG increases vapor production so to get massive clouds and TH you need VG at lower ohms with more air flow. I've played with it all and like to blow big clouds on a dual coil sub ohm build on occasion but my ADV is around .9 to 1.1 ohm single coil.

That's one of the things I can't fathom out, the fascination with huge clouds, I can't understand the difference it makes

yes you could, it was just not obvious, fat cigarettes, skinny cigarettes, air holes in the filter, no air holes, slow long pulls, quick hot pulls, all changed the smoke amount and th with cigarettes.

True enough, I smoked rollies, no filters, for about 30 years, so from my side of things, you always got the sme Throathit etc

did you truly enjoy smoking or was it just a bad habit. Did you like the feeling of a huge lung full of smoke. Do you mouth hit or lung your ecig? did you mouth hit or lung hit cigarettes.

I liked smoking, I lung hit my cigarettes and liked a huge lung full of smoke. So a big massive cloud chasing event give me that feeling.

I agree there are many who do it just for the cool factor, I can blow bigger clouds than you, Ha. But they miss out on good flavor. Like I said I do it occasionally for that wonderfully full lung feeling.

There's nothing quite like the satisfaction caused from annoying people in my office at work by ripping out huge billowing clouds! Not the answer you were looking for i'm sure!

I suspect with people younger than me (and there are a lot of them now) it's a "who's got the biggest" contest, but i am much more concerned with a great flavour than i am with the clouds. My vape is a 50/50 mix because i am not out and out cloud-chasing.
Since a mechanical mod is the only thing capable of taking the abuse i inflict at work - i have to try to maximise the vape i can get from that battery. I CAN get the same vape from a regulated device, but they cannot stand the daily abuse.

My regular vape is about 0.6Ω and it's a warm vape with average throat hit. Going much lower than that i find unpleasant and more of an endurance test than anything else.

Got too admit, that through time, it just became a bad habit, & e cigs, were a way to carry on getting my nic fix, with lesser health risks, & I freely admit, if I didn't have access to this, I'd be back on the rollies, straight away
I'm not being awkward or anything, by asking these questions, I'm interested in knowing, that's all

The funny bit about an indestructible, reliable mod, you guys are old enough to remember when stinkies only came in soft packs, right? How many times were you out in the rain and found your pocket had soaked through, or tapped out three into a puddle by accident. Or just sat on them ( oops, I guess these are unfiltered now!) and through all of it we were supported by one of the best financed, most wide reaching delivery systems humankind has ever developed for a non-necessity.

To address your comment, I wouldn't say I chase clouds, as I am one of two vapers I know, and it don't see the other guy that much. I don't need a b and m, because I have a reo and the internet. So why do I prefer a widened air hole and a .6 twisted coil and 100% vg? I guess it just feels better than the anemic wisps from the cigalikes and ego stuff that I started with. Plus, the smoke rings have better hang time.:vapor:

I spent the better part of this first 9 months of vaping chasing the elusive and true "cigarette hit" from an e-cig.

Sure, carto-tanks got me off of cigarettes and kept me smoke free, but let's be honest they do not hit like a cigarette.

A .6Ω twisted 28g kanthal micro coil in an RM2; now that hits exactly like a cigarette.

I smoked pretty much the same brands for almost 40 years. Now, however, I change flavors multiple times a day LOL Why? Because I feel like a kid in a candy shop! I have so many great flavors, and I love to taste them. Which is weird, because I could eat the same thing for meals every day for months, given a choice. I suppose I just get excited at all the different eliquids! If there was nothing left in the world but Tribeca, I'm still sure I would still be satisfied with vaping. But there are so many more flavors - I suppose I'm addicted to trying out new ones:vapor: And let me add that since the day I picked up a throwaway ecig I have never for a second craved an analog.

And I too actually do have an old cigarette case lying around somewhere:p

I agree with everything that has been explained for your questions. Probably clouds are because we can make that happen.
I don't care how big my clouds are, I just like thick clouds. I don't like PG a lot so I use more VG and I get my warmth via lower ohm coils.
I like single coils better than dual, and .6 to .8 is great for me.

I mostly make three flavors I like and use one flavor for a weeks time. I found if I vape one flavor all the time my taste buds stop tasting the flavor. so that's why I mix it up. Also, because I can.

Nothing wrong with having options

I haven't changed juice in about 2 years. I found one I like and that's it. I smoked one brand of cigs for 30 years so why change juice. I do like a good lung full of vapour. When I smoked I drew them in all the way to my toes. I vape the same. I was 50/50 vg pg but have upped to about 75% vg now for the fullness

I have 28 different juices but I'm in the process of getting that number down. I have a liter of Gorilla Juice (not the Alien Vapor kind) quite a few Hoosier Vapes and MBV flavors and a half liter of unflavored 12 mg nic juice. I want to get down to five or ten juices. Then get a Reo for each flavor and one to sample. Who knows if flavors become too expensive I might go to unflavored and fill them all with the same thing.

PG and I don't do well together. It is not so bad that I can't tolerate the PG in flavors. But any extra PG kicks in a allergic reaction.
I usually stay at 1.1-1.2 ohms on my mechanical REO's. Around 2.1 on my VV REO's.

people are wanting more vapour, but when smoking you got what the cigarette produced, you couldn't increase, or decrease it

The length of your draw on a cig would/could vary the amount of smoke. With a RBA I can create a coil that gives me the amount of vapor I want for the way I vape. It will also vary if I take a longer draw or if I hold it longer before I exhale.

people changing flavours throughout the day, I'm not saying I'm right, but it seems to me vaping mustn't be as satisfying to people who have to change flavours so regularly

I use multiple REO's throughout the day. The juice in each bottle is usually a little different. It does not mean one is less satisfying than the other. With the ability to change the flavor I am vaping I find the experience of vaping a lot more enjoyable.
Sometimes when smoking I would pick up a pack of cloves or swisher sweets. Just for the taste difference.

I know that everyone is different, & entitled to do things the way they want, I'm not knocking anyone, or anything like that, so I hope no one takes offence, at what I've written, I'm just genuinely interested, as to why it all goes on

I think for smokers that read about vaping our habit of changing things up, getting more vapor, more heat, and more or different flavors can seem like we are not satisfied. They might see it as a complicated thing to jump into.

But in all reality it can be very simple and you can vape only one juice, use a atomizer or cartomizer at one set ohm, and be happy.

For me vaping gives me options and I enjoy a little experimentation. The only enjoyment I got from cigs was the nicotine and the work breaks to smoke. I didn't really enjoy the taste all the time. Sometimes they tasted awful.

Guess I did enjoy rolling my cig in a ashtray and getting the fire end glowing with no ash. It is getting a little harder to remember smoking. Almost three years cig free.

In all I have given vaping and my REO's much more time and effort than just picking up a carton of cigs. What they has given me is priceless.

This is just me so, FWIW

I vape unflavored 20mg 80/20 juice, on a 1.8ish ohm coil. All day, everyday. I have no desire to change anything, I'm quite happy with it. When I smoked, I stuck with a single brand of cigarette for years and years. I think some folks get into changing it up just to fill in the time.

Remember, for many, vaping "at first" was quite fiddly and time consuming, and I think some of us got into the habit of fiddling.

I vape like I smoked, I just don't have the cough or wheezing I used to. :)
