I'm certain that in the case of a massive battery out gassing, the plastic end cap would come off of the aluminum cap well before the aluminum case would explode.

yes it would and that would open up two larger holes in the end cap.

Maybe it would. Maybe it wouldn't.

I know that mine Won't. Because the Plastic end piece on my LT Fell Off on about the 2nd day of use. So it had to be Glued back on.

There's no maybe about it. But if my cap fell off, I'd drill the holes in the cap to match the two large holes in the aluminum cap before gluing it back on. Actually, if that happens, I'm sending it back to Joe for a replacement. You probably can still drill it out, but I think you'll have to do it from the spring end, so be careful not to catch the drill bit on the spring, or remove the spring first.

Alternatively, anyone looking at this post that doesn't have a warranty to worry about, I think that drilling some holes in the tube itself is doable. Just need to be careful to not let the drill bit walk over the finish, so a drill press would be recommended. I'd also think a dremel tool and a clamp would work nicely to put a couple or three slots into the tube.

A while back I saw a video or pictures by someone who simply pushed out the plastic part of the endcap. And of course now I can't find that post back. It was a simple procedure, since the plastic part is designed to come off anyway. What remained was a not ugly at all aluminium cap with nice big ventholes. No drilling involved. Wish I could find the link.

It does make it harder to swap batteries and a little wobblier when standing up. Kinda like drinking...
