I'm scared too. I've only been vaping since this Aug. I wish these devices wernt called "ecig."
I dont like the word Cigs or Cigarette used at all. I would have called them "e-Vape." Vaping is nothing
like smoking. I think the word cig and cigarette is causing alot of notice and causing negative reactions.
I also think we should change the name!!!

I don't think e-cigs are going the way of the dinosaurs any time soon. In the meantime, wean yourself off of cigarettes, until you no longer smoke altogether if you haven't already. Yes, get that provari if you can afford it, they're great and they have a one year warranty and you can buy extra year if you want to. Have a plan to cut down on the nicotine in your juice, that way you won't have withdrawals when the zombie apocalypse happens (this is a joke, of course).

I've been vaping 0 nic juice for the last 4 days. I make my own ejuice and am vaping new flavors without nic. My hair isn't falling off, and I haven't thrashed out at anyone yet because of it.

Learn to diy, it's really a lot of fun, and food flavoring most likely won't be banned. If anything, the only thing they can regulate is the sale of he nicotine liquid.

Relax, enjoy your vape and breathe easier!

Do you or anyone have any online links to share of where to purchase the flavoring for our juice if we make it ourselves?

Obviously, they could make liquid nicotine a controlled substance and pretty much shut down the juice. Or require some sort of license that only allows the big companies (big tobacco) access.

That is where my concern is greatest. Lorillard (now owns Blu) just indicated that they believe 1) more regulation is coming 2) consolidation is coming 3) e-cigs distribution is going to be in retail outlets 4) they expect growth and profits.

I can see a time coming where the small independents are forced out and the business handed over to big tobacco and e-cigs will only be available in places you buy cigarettes now and from companies that sell cigarettes now.

This will mean higher prices, less awesome-ness, and more addictive tricks by addiction experts.

How long will a gallon of nic liquid keep in the freezer????

The FDA did its best to shut down the e-cigarette industry back in 2008 and 2009 when it began seizing shipments of products coming in from China, claiming that the e-cigarette was an unapproved drug-drug delivery device combination. After a legal battle in the Federal Court system, the FDA backed off on banning, but has announced that it wants to "regulate" e-cigarettes under the tobacco act (Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, signed into law in 2009). The problem with that is if they implement the exact terms of the law (which were written with combustible cigarettes in mind), they could ban the sale of any product that entered the market after February of 2007. There is a provision that allowed tobacco companies to apply for "substantial equivalency" status. The company would need to prove that the new product is nearly exactly the same as the ones marketed prior to Feb. 2007. Unfortunately, there was a deadline for submitting these requests built into the law, and it has already passed.

There is also concern that even if the FDA didn't move to shut down most of the business as described above, that they would apply unreasonable regulations that would be impossible for most companies to follow. They might impose regulations that would make the products less effective as an acceptable substitute for smoking, such as setting the maximum % of nicotine too low or outlawing all except for tobacco flavors.

Then there is the problem of the tobacco company user fees, which were based on multi-billion dollar corporations like RJ Reynolds. Nearly all of the vendors that participate in this Forum could by no means afford those fees.

Those are our worries at the Federal level. At the state level we have to keep fighting legislation proposed by the groups we refer to as the Anti-Nicotine and Tobacco Zealots (ANTZ). These include the Americans for Nonsmokers' Rights, Action on Smoking and Health, American Lung Association, American Cancer Society, Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, etc. For a while, they were proposing outlawing all sales, then it became a ban on indoor use (by including the use of E-cigs in the definition of smoking), and some have even suggested taxation.

This^^^^^^

If all of us on this site would just sign our signature to CASSA, that would help alot. Signatures are an active measure to offset the government. So simple. Dont just FLAP on here, get active with just your signature... done deal. you voted.

Good advice! Everyone on this site should join and financially support CASAA. It is very sad that so few on ECF support the only group actively working to keep vaping from being banned. Click on the banner in this post to find out how.

they spent $135million on blu. That's pocket change to them. I think that's actually mostly bet hedging. If there is any justice in the world e-cigs will remain available and juice and PV's sellable online and in other outlets by non Big Tobacco (i.e. if it is regulated the cost of regulation won't automatically exclude smaller vendors) Of course tobacco companies will want a piece of the market if it starts eating into their profits. I think Lorillard are making sure that they are ready to push e-cigs when the dust settles on the regulation arguments in x months time and are ahead of other BT companies, and if it gets banned, they lost some pocket change, no biggie.
