Hello,

I have just received my "Classic Elite" e-cig from epuffer.com. I believe that this is a 510 ... or at least looks like a 510.

Question #1: I literally just got this unit in this morning's mail ... so I dutifully plugged it into the AC charger. The instructions say it must be charged for a full 8 hours before initial use ... but about an hour later, the light on the charger has changed from red to green. Again according to instructions, the green light is supposed to indicate that the unit is fully charged.

Despite the green light, the unit is still plugged in ... and am I right in assuming that prior to initial use I should just ignore the green light? Is there a danger of over-charging?

Question #2: The instruction manual says that the cartridges for the "Classic Elite" are for one time use only. I presume that this means that I can't refill them? If that's true, is there such a thing as a "blank" cartridge that I could use along with e-liquid?

Question #3: The site where I got the "Classic Elite" doesn't seem to have any personal chargers [you know ... the case that charges the unit while being carried in a pocket or purse] ... is there one of these that would accommodate the "Classic Elite" ... or 510, if, in fact, that's what mine is?

Sorry if these are foolish questions ... but I tend to be a bit OCD about new things.

Assuming the battery is NiMH Li-Ion (it probably is), then you don't have to let it sit on the charger for 8 hours. Those instructions declaring that you need to do an initial 8-hour or overnight charge are leftovers from the bad old NiCad days, and don't apply to NiMH Li-Ion. Also, with NiMH Li-Ion, there is no benefit to leaving them on the charger after the light turns green. At that point, the battery is good to go!

My rule is to follow the green light's advice and go when green.

It should be a Li-ion battery, so memory effects should be next to 0. The charger should be equipped to deal with charging correctly the battery and know the difference between full charge and needs a charge.

I seriously doubt the carts are one use only, but would need to know more about the unit to give refill advise. (On a phone now, so pics are hard to see.)

Good Luck!

As far as the cartos, they may be telling you not to refill them because they want to sell you more. Pull the end cap(the mouth end) off, and if you see white filler with a hole in the middle, then you can refill. So don't throw them away. Save them until you get some juice to refill.

Welcome and best wishes!

It's not a 510.

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS in choosing this new path for your health and your wallet..... however, the epuffer is not the best choice you could have gotten. You are among the great majority of vapers here, you have chosen an e-cig that looks good on the website and seems to have good reviews. Unfortunately, you could have done better for a lot less money. Here's what you got:
Electronic Cigarette - ePuffer Elite Classic E-Cigarette Starter Kit with bonus!

Also, it's very misleading because they say that one cart is equal to a pack of smokes... that's just not going to happen in any circumstance.

I'm not saying this to rag on you or be mean. And I see by their return policy that you are stuck with the unit for now. I'm only saying this stuff because I really want it to work for you and I want you to know that there are better AND much less expensive options for you in the vaping world. You can probably make it work, but you'll want to get some juice to refill the cart with so you can have a better vaping experience. I don't recommend purchasing more product from that website though because they are WAY over-priced, you'll go broke trying to get what you need to make it worthwhile.

next time, you could get something like this:
510 PCC KIT
the whole kit and the pcc for $50...and it is a 510, so you can get parts for it from just about any vendor - not just the vendor you got the kit from.

Good Luck, welcome to the forum, and I hope it all works out for you... don't give up!

Welcome and glad to have you here.

As the others have said, perhaps a move to a different unit which will save you money in the
long run, could be the thing to do. Don't get too discouraged on that, most all of us have 2-3-4-8 units!

My best suggestions to you at this point, is to spend a whole lot more time reading here and
learning alot more to help elevate your vaping experience. There are many tricks to the trade
and everyone here wants you to succeed.
There are also many, many videos on YouTube that shows just about everything ecig, including
filling carts, etc.
You will NOT learn the in's and outs without spending some time here. There is sooooo much
info to help you, but ya gotta spend the time here doing your research.
We are here to help you along the way and love to hear all your success stories as well as
help you when you run into any problems.

Alot to learn as well on the juice aspect as it is a very large portion in the vaping experience.

Let us know how it goes and again, so glad to have you here.

Thanks for all the replies so far. To clarify, I selected epuffer.com because they are actually in Canada ... as am I. I ordered on Friday ... and the unit arrived today. If I order from the US, presuming that it gets through Canada Customs, it can take up to 2 weeks to receive.

I based my supposition on the similarity of appearance ... particularly when I was trying to read the review section of this site.

I admit to being in a bit of a hurry this time 'round ... because we are going on vacation next week with friends ... who don't smoke. Hubby and I decided that we should quit ... again. The last time I quit, I was off cigarettes for 1.5 years ... but during that time I gained A LOT of weight. I'm hoping that with e-cigarettes, I won't gain ... or at least not as much.

I also hate the smell that lingers when smoking bone fide cigarettes. Although neither Hubby nor I smoke in the house ... the stench still clings to clothing, hair, fingers etc. I'm looking forward to not being "stinky" anymore!
The cartridge does have white filler and a hole.

I do plan on ordering some more cartridges ... just for the trip ... but will order some e-liquid as well to refill the cartridges I do have.

I have found, so far [with my extensive 40 minutes of experience] that I only need 3 or 4 drags to get the same satisfied "feeling" as smoking a complete cigarette. That will probably change as I become more accustomed to "vaping" ... but at 3 or 4 drags I can see where the claim that one cartridge is equal to 10 to 15 cigarettes would come from.

Realistically, how many cigarettes does the average cartridge equal?

Thanks also for the welcomes. I've been intrigued with the concept for a while now ... and tried reading as much as possible prior to getting one ... but some things don't become obvious until one has actually used one for a bit.

I don't think it's a 510. In the photos the atomizer (middle long part) looks fatter than the the battery. Is that true? Is the diameter of middle long piece larger than the diameter of the battery?

It sort of looks to me like a pen-style

Re cartridges - yeah sorry you bought from a seller that lies, doesn't sell blank carts, etc. Can you show us a photo of the inside of the cart?

If if is a push-on cart then...
- if you can see stuffing, you can put ejuice in it. And when the stuffing stops behaving well you can put different stuffing in it.
- if you cannot see stuffing, there is probably a way to push up the juice cup so you can see the stuffing

If it is a screw-on cartomizer, then there may be ways to refill it though rebranders usually do their best to make that harder.

BTW - I recommend Happy Vaper, an e-cig shop in Canada. And there is a Canada subforum here on ECF - you can find it from the front page of ECF. Once you have 5 posts/replies and wait about an hour you will be able to post anywhere including there.

Thanks DC2 and Dormouse!

Dormouse ... you're right ... so it's a "pen style" ... not a 510. I'll get the hang of the different types one of these days. LOL

I think these cartridges would be easy to refill ... I can see the "stuffing" ... and there is a hole. I suspect that prefilled cartridges would be better for taking on the plane than taking e-liquid ... but I may grab a bottle of e-liquid so that I can refill the cartridges while away.

Mary

DC2 ... thanks for the links. I'll check them out carefully.

I appreciate all the help.

If the stuffing is easy to aim at, you can easily add e-liquid - just a bit at a time until it looks damp on top but not a puddle. If you add too much you could end up with juice in your mouth (keep some tissue on you so you can spit out the juice if that happens and wipe your kips etc,)

If the juice cup is recessed then see if it pushes up. You want the juice to go in the cup, not around it because somewhere around it is the air channel that goes to your mouth.
