Well done. Way to follow your instincts. Sounds like you had an impact. A prime example of what you can do when you don't let anyone tell you, "you can't do anything, they are just going to do it."

You did something. In the end, that may end up being what stops it. Stay with it until the deal is finished, like Placebo Effect said. We can count on CASAA giving us the information, but it is up to us to be there on the front lines when they call.

Great work by CASAA putting this issue in front of us. Thanks you, Tom, for answering the call.

I agree, not over, but the win is that they aren't going to Lump E-Cig with Head Shops and drug paraphernalia. To me that would have been a really horrible precedent.

When I saw this, the first thing that came to mind was "Then they'd better deem Starbucks coffee cups as drug paraphernalia because they're nothing more than drug delivery devices".

At 26:15 you see the Guy who says he represents the American Cancer Society supporting it.
He's really abominable.

I realized that the meeting was too long for most

Below are excerpts that I think are the most interesting part of the meeting.

TomZGreat Rebuts Cancer Society Guy
Thank gosh that I came after him and he wasn't the last speaker!
I should mention that I may have gotten carried away with the " I don't know...." part, on hindsight that was an exaggeration. https://www.dropbox.com/s/4t44oz9gpm2bkfc/7_TomzGreat_Rebuttal_Of_Cancer_Guy.mp3

Honest Sheriff

Must Listen-Councilman says our telling our stories had impact.
On the other hand he raised another issue that is going to be problematic.

Councilman say we have to separate this out, they realize that it's ludicrous lumping E-Cig with paraphernalia He says what everyone on the forum thinks "It made no sense"

Just finished listening to all the speakers you linked us to.

The high school teacher did a great job summing up his personal ecig journey. Very "educational" which isn't surprising.

Father Jack's recording was garbled, I had a hard time understanding all of what he said, but his credentials alone were impressive!

Less than impressive was the next speaker. Clearly he was local, and from the way he introduced himself, he seems to be a member of ACS but not an official representative. When he read from/quoted the ACS storybook, his voice and presentation was fairly steady, but when he spoke for himself, it was clear to me at least that he is not an experienced speaker, and not very well spoken or knowledgeable.

And you, Mr. Tom, put him down quite beautifully! You made very good points, and your passion came through loud and clear. Well done!

The sherrif spoke as a law enforcement officer. Clear, concise. Actually this is the first time I've heard confirmation of the lack of evidence (from the legal perspective) of ecigs being used as drug paraphernalia.

The comments by the council members were hopeful, though I was a bit surprised about the "should we be thinking about the children?" comment, which was nowhere mentioned in the ordinance language. I'm going to write them again with some links to info on how ecigs have not been shown to "entice" children to nicotine.

Appears the council member(s) with the "save the children" notion
had their minds made up prior to the meeting.

Annia the Councilman brought up a point that's going to be very problematic for the future.

Let's face it Vaping, even 0 nicotine is pleasurable. It's not remaining or going to remain just for Ex-Smokers. Of course we are going to keep it out of the hands of minors
but
What about the societal implications when those who never smoke start vaping.
It's a real can of worms and it's going to be discussed at all the Govt meetings nationwide.

Some former smokers who quit "Cold Turkey" are now vaping Zero nicotine
simply for the soothing relaxing experience that they missed so much
since they went "Cold Turkey"

Not a huge percentage of e-smokers ... but some former smokers
do enjoy the vaping experience (with no nic) from time to time.

Regarding the point about those who never smoked ... starting to vape
instead of starting to smoke. Well, that is a variable which will happen
and there's little we can do about that. However, we all agree it would
be better to experiment with vaping than experiment with smoking.

I think Bill mentioned somewhere ...
There is no proof that any non-smoker has ever become
addicted to nicotine by using an e-cigarette.

The very large elephant in the room!

I say, for now, "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!"
